Selves multi times 5 to 10 then then engine stops and the light comes on dash saying eac off and it drives for. The most part half ok. This happens everything for 2 months now. The engine light stayed on 1 year and half. When hooked up to code reader it says fuel leak.

My battery light flashes, then goes off then my seatbelt light blinks and goes off and my windshield wipers are not getting the power to wipe and the rear defroster turns off every time the battery light flashes. Ive been to 3 mechanics and they all say bring it to Hyundai. When I brought it they said there was no recall so I left the service room and am now on the NHTSA site. All of this is while both stationary and in motion.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2020

The driver's side sun visor arm is broken. It won't stay up. I have velcro on it but when it's hot, it loosens the glue and it falls down blocking my vision while driving. It's either up or down, no in-between.

The car caught on fire as I was driving down the road.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2019

Car stalled and locked up three times while driving on a city street. Had the car towed to the Hyundai service center and was told it is the abs control module that is malfunctioning. The abs module recall should have been expanded as I never had any problems with this vehicle until now.

Failure Date: 03/12/2019

Car was dragging on ground, after stopping vehicle, driver noticed rear, driver side wheel was tilted.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2018

Throttle body piston sensor as I am driving the engine revs high and does not come back down. When looking up the codes they state it is the throttle body piston sensor which has been changed and I am still having the same issue. I have been doing some investigating and apparently a lot of people have had this issue and Hyundai does nothing about it.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2018

Sudden unexpected acceleration with no power brake. Acceleration of vehicle on it's own. When in park and neutral vehicle idles fine and power brakes work. With foot on brake and placing the vehicle in drive or reverse it accelerated immediately to uncontrollable speeds with no foot on the gas pedal. At the same time you lose power brake and it is impossible to control unless the driver puts the vehicle in neutral, then power brake engages and acceleration stops. This happened to my daughter's car on 4/24/18. Thankfully there was no accident. I also tested the car and it is uncontrollable. Experienced no problems or warnings prior to this. No check engine light before or after this incident. I had the car towed to my auto repair shop. Got the car on the lift and put it in drive. It immediately accelerated on it's own and reached 80 miles per hour quickly. No foot on the accelerator or brake. Decided to call Hyundai dealership. The car was towed to the dealership on 4/30. The tech confirmed our concerns. On 5/11 the service manager contacted Hyundai corporation on our behalf. We also called Hyundai customer care on 5/13. No vehicle should extremely accelerate and lose power brake at the same time! this is a safety defect. Regardless of what the problem is no vehicle should react like this. The vehicle is still at the Hyundai dealership and needs to be investigated to find the root problem and solve it! this is necessary to prevent any vehicle from doing this again. Lives are at risk and a recall needs to be done. Drive by wire system. . .

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2018

I found this recall message "Hyundai motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2006-2011 Hyundai azera and 2006 Hyundai Sonata vehicles. Water may enter the anti-lock brake (abs) module and result in an electrical short . An electrical short within the abs module may cause an engine compartment fire, even when the car is turned off, increasing the risk of an injury. " what I need to action for this issue?.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2018

While driving down the highway the esc and abs lights continue to come on without warning. They go off once I turn the vehicle off but shortly after driving they come back on.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2017

Electric stabilization randomly turns off on its own and wont turn back on, the low tire pressure light has never come on, I've had 2 flats, and several really low air tire moments; this happens regularly. I thought it was covered by the last recall but when I got the last one I took my car to the dealership to get the recall taken care of they said my car wasn't affected by the recall.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2016

I see there was a recall on the control arm it was never fixed so how do I get it reparied.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2016

The car either accelerating or braking jerks as if it starts and stops on it's own. I am afraid of driving it. I've had it to the dealer a couple of times and my first complaint was that it jerked into gear. It didn't matter if reverse or forward. The check engine light will come on. The dealer replaced a shift sensor but that didn't fix the check engine light nor the stop and start at random times. When this happens the car slows way down and I barely can get it to go forwards. The last time it happened was at night. I pulled onto a street from a stop sign into traffic. I barely went half a block and had to pull into a driveway to get out of the traffic behind me. The esc light came on briefly on the dash. I looked at the off switch and it was illuminated. I pushed it off I think. The road was dry and there was no reason that turning at 5 mph would create a reason for such a reaction from the car. I only have 30k miles on the vehicle. It should not be doing this.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2016

The visor on both my 2006 and 2007 is broke and does not stay up. Had to glue it. Also we had an third 2007 with the same issue. This is certainly a safety hazard. The other day I almost got into an accident because I was blocking the sun with one hand and had the other on the steering wheel and had to swerve to avoid an accident and using only one hand almost had me in the other people wreck.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2016

I took my car in for the rear crossmember recall in 2016. Even though it was rusted they did not replace it however the did replace the front cross member because it had holes in it and was rusted. They replaced rusted brake and fuel lines (which I paid for) the car has never been right since and now the power steering lines are rusted and the car is not able to be driven. I am the original owner. The car has 87,787 original miles on it. Always garage kept, not driven in the winter. There is no reason this car should be in the condition it is in. With the car now out of warranty by a few months Hyundai refuses to do anything even though they should have replaced corroded lines and other parts last year when it was under warranty. We also own a 2006 Buick which was driven in the winter and it does not have one speck of rust on it. This is a known Hyundai issue. I shouldn't have had to pay for the last repair, certainly not this one. The only repairs made have been to corrosion of the underside of the car. The body is completely intact with no rush.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Sun visor will not stay in place, visibility obstructed and dangerous.

21 Equipment problem

My Sonata 3. 3l v-6 engine with what appears to be a very common and dangerous problem. . Read more...

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2015

Oil leaked from valve cover onto alternator. Engine stalled and left me stranded on rural mountain road. Finally got towed home. Mechanic says it will cost nearly $1000 to replace valve cover gaskets and alternator. Car is 2006 Hyundai Sonata with 3. 3l 6cyl engine. I believe that this is the same engine and same problem that prompted the recall on 2007 Hyundai veracruz NHTSA campaign number: 14v415000. The existing recall should be expanded to include more Hyundai vehicle models that exhibit the same problem.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Car slides replaced brakes rotors and tires had a wheel aliment still happens then my esc abs lights come on then the car drives funny and doesn't work.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle had severe rust around the gas tank, brake lines and gas lines. The gas lines had leaks. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the gas tank, brake lines, gas lines and cross members needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000. Sw.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2014

Vehicle is no longer able to shift into drive. When shifted into reverse display shows park and vehicle will not move, when shifted into neutral display shows reverse and vehicle will go in reverse0, when shifted into drive display shows neutral. Drive is completely missing.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2014

I was at a stop light and zero speed notice my asb and esc light comes on time to time . And notice my lights go out from time to time in the back stop lights.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2014

Problems with right control arm and from strut mounts. Thump noise when bumps are there. Initially, the dealer said everything looks fine. I asked them to check thoroughly and they said that problem with right front lower control arm. The dealer reported that it cost around $1220 to repair. I am concerned about the safety me and my family. A similar recall has been done (number 113). It is too expensive to hear with no fault of ours. The Hyundai need to take care of it. It still makes a noise under hood.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2013

Air bag light stays on took to dealer said driver seat switch bad, possible seat belt buckle could be bad quoted over 500. Dollars to fix I can not afford to have fixed should be covered under warranty.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2013

The visor on my car has been broken for about two years now. At first it was just annoying while driving but I feel it is a safety concern now. The visor stays up by kevlar but I need to redo it since the plastic threads are no longer holding it together. I shouldn't have to hold the visor with my left hand because the manufacturer designed the visor badly. On a sunny day the visor won't stay in the position placed but stays in a vertical position, blocking my sight. Also, the cup holder design is horrible. The aftermarket cup holders won't even fit inside. Only large diameter cups can be held securely. Standard cups are not held secure. I need to be conscious of where the cup is when driving. A cup holder should actually hold the cup in place and not cause concern to the driver.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2013

Sun visors do not remain in place. They will fall obstructing my view.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2013

While driving at 65mph, passenger side sun visor fell, startling driver and nearly causing an accident. Sun visor remains down (will not stay up), causing a constant distraction at all hours and restricting visibility.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2013

Passenger seat belt light is on dashboard. It doesn't matter if there is someone in the seat or not. Sun visor on driver doesn't stay up. Had it replaced due to not being able to stay up. Now the passenger side visor is doing the same thing. Visor shouldn't be having issues. As for seatblet light. Hopefully a recall will take care of this.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2013

The door handles on both rear seat passanger doors have broken off inside the door. They broke approximately where the linkage attaches to the handle. The front passanger handle is acting different than it use to now also. As of this weekend the front drivers handle are acting different also! this appears to be a manufacturing /design issue and not an abuse or vandilisum issue.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2011

While driving, the driver's side sun visor suddenly flopped open. It startled me and almost caused an accident. The sun visor has not stayed up ever since. This creates a safety issue since it blocks my line of vision.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2011

Driver side sun visor will not stay in the up position on 2006 Hyundai Sonata, when the car was taken to the dealership they said they would not cover it under NHTSA campaign number 06v-234 and we would have to pay $200 to have it fixed.
