The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the brake pedal would fail to respond intermittently, causing her to depress it excessively. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the brakes; however, after the repair, the brake pedal failed to operate. The contact stated that the head lamps also had failed to operate as needed. The bulbs were replaced; however, the driver's side headlamp failure recurred. The bulb was replaced; however, the low-beam failed to illuminate and the high-beam was illuminating with inadequate lighting. Additionally, the contact stated that while at a complete stop after refueling the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start immediately. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was pushed back to the residence with assistance. The abs, ecs, brakes, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact associated the failures to NHTSA campaign numbers: 08e021000 (exterior lighting), 13v354000 (suspension) and 18v026000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 176,000.
My parking and tail lights do not turn off when I turn off the car when it's dark. I have to turn the headlight switch on and off several times to see if they will turn off. If they do not I have to disconnect the battery so it doesn't discharge. I was told this is a fuse panel issue. If this is a fuse panel issue then I'm concerned what else will go wrong with the fuse panel. If the lights stop working altogether then that will be a problem. I have not taken this vehicle to a dealer due to financial responsibilities. This all started without warning. At about the same time, my esc turned off and will not come back on. Curious if this is connected.
The air bag light came back on a couple of months ago, again, informed by dealer that they would have to research it the next time I came in. The park lights will not always shut off when in the auto setting, so far have been able to get them to shut off by repeatedly turning light switch on and off. The abs/esc light comes on randomly and will usually go off after turning car off and restarting. Now, the trunk will not close and the trunk light is on continually and the lights will not light when hitting the door lock button on the fob, so I do not know if the vehicle is secure and safe to enter at night. These situations all occur either when parking or in the case of the abs/esc while driving or when the car is running and stationary.
The airbag light on the dashboard stays on and the passenger continuously blinks. I happened to click/engage the seat belt (with no one in the seat) and the passenger light goes off but the airbag light on dashboard stays on. I do not know the exact date this started happening because my daughter drives it and she's going to colorado college in colorado springs. But today's date is 6/5/2017.
Right frontwheel has a squeeking noise that occurs when going over bumps. Right sun visor will not stay inupright position.
The parking lights will automatically come on by itself when the car is off and there's no key in the ignition. I have returned to my car from work and the lights would be on draining the battery. In addition, while driving the parking lights will come on and go off as well as in the dash when the switch is in the off position. I have video but it's not downloading.
The seat belt light is always on after wearing the seat belt . It always beeps.
Head lights dims, flickers, dashboard lights dims, radio shut off when slowing speed, sometimes brakes light come on.
First of all the time and mileage are approximate. We experienced difficulty in turning off the parking/dashboard lights in our 2006 Hyundai Sonata. Flicking the stalk back and forth a few times would eventually turn them off. I asked my mechanic and called 2 local Hyundai dealers and all agreed the only solution is to replace the entire fuse/relay box. After consulting a few Hyundai forums I learned that this was a problem affecting some 2006 and 2007 hyundias and that owners were paying between $700 to $1200 to replace the faulty part. Many owners are upset that Hyundai does not issue a recall. On Monday, January 27, 2014 the stalk stopped working. A call to Hyundai north America not only resulted in no help in finding out which fuse would disable the lights but also assured me that Hyundai seems to expect the life of such parts to last just past the warranty expiration date. I decided to pull out the relay located under the dashboard which turned off the lights (among other things). The next day when my wife left work after inserting the relay back in, she couldn't get out of first gear and slowly things started to stop working such as the heated seat and the rear defogger. Once home, I disconnected the battery, waited a few minutes, reconnected the battery and road-tested the car. Everything worked normal; however, this is the only way to turn off the lights. On Sunday, February 2, 2014 I bought a battery quick-disconnect and wired the other end to the existing Hyundai positive battery cable. Now, while we wait weeks (possibly months) to have the money to get this part replaced, my wife will have to leave work and in a dark parking lot, reconnect the battery using this quick-disconnect tool. While the car sits at home and at her place of employment, it remains unlocked with no alarm, I can provide digital pictures of this along with other complaints about the car.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) I own a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, [xxx] , the vehicle constantly burns out the headlamps. Since purchase in 2006, the car has gone through 4 sets of headlamps. The last time this happened my wife was driving on a rural road at night when both headlamps burned at once. This incident created a hazardous condition where she was momentarily totally unable to see the road. This failure mode seems to be a systemic problem that Hyundai refuses to acknowledge, and their response is just to recommend replacement of bulbs as they burn out.
That's the problem there is no serious event leading up to the problem. It is happening because theses cars are not built for safety. I have had my car for 5 months and there are some serious problems, Hyundai and you all may not think so but it is. If it was your car that had all of these problems you would be complaining also. Problems that I have with my Hyundai Sonata: passenger airbag light on every time you crank up, airbag light in the dash board on, check engine light (sensors going bad in the car). If its not equipped for the car don't try something that's going to have people spending out of the pockets and then paying for a car also. Recalls on 06 Hyundai Sonata what's the purpose if it cant be fixed everything on the recall list is happening to my car. If I had a second chance I would not have bout that !@#$% from Hyundai.
I received a recall letter on my 2006 Hyundai Sonata regarding the stop lamp switch. I knew I had this problem, but when I took it in on June 24, 2009, I was told it would cost me approximately $275. 00 to repair. I cannot afford such repair. Then the manager of the service dept. Came and offered to repair it for less, but that he would call me later with a quote. I never received such a call. Today, I took my car back to service dept. At 7:00 in the morning and was told it would take until about 7:00 in the evening to repair, when I told them I could not be without a car that long, I was told that they had to see if even my car qualified for this recall. The person came back to say that my car did not. I would like a response to this request. The woman taking down my information did not even listen to the other things I was complaining about, such as a rubber (do not know correct name) fell off from the sunroof and other items. She did not even hear about those item.
2006 Hyundai Sonata parking lights won't go off or go off and come back on.
I bought a 2006 Hyundai Sonata at the beginning of the model year in August 2005. Since that time, I have replaced the low beam headlamps at least 4 times. On two of those four occasions, the headlamps burned out after only a few months of use. This seems to be a systemic problem and Hyundai refuses to acknowledge it.
