My car battery light went on. I replaced the battery 2x, replaced the alternator, checked the ground and all connections. My battery light flashes, then goes off then my seatbelt light blinks and goes off and my windshield wipers are not getting the power to wipe and the rear defroster turns off every time the battery light flashes. Ive been to 3 mechanics and they all say bring it to Hyundai. When I brought it they said there was no recall so I left the service room and am now on the NHTSA site. All of this is while both stationary and in motion.
Drivers side sun visor will not stay up and continuously falls down to distract my view while driving. It does this whether drive at low or high speeds; and on smooth roads.
The sun visor on driver side keeps falling down and does not stay up. Its a safety issue when sun is in my eye and I cant do anything about it. I would hate an accident with sun in my eye and getting blinded.
Right frontwheel has a squeeking noise that occurs when going over bumps. Right sun visor will not stay inupright position.
The visor on both my 2006 and 2007 is broke and does not stay up. Had to glue it. Also we had an third 2007 with the same issue. This is certainly a safety hazard. The other day I almost got into an accident because I was blocking the sun with one hand and had the other on the steering wheel and had to swerve to avoid an accident and using only one hand almost had me in the other people wreck.
The sun visors in these vehicles fail, and randomly fall while driving which has nearly caused accidents on the road with me several times. They are poorly made cheap materials. The way the visor falls prevents viewing of the road entirely for several seconds until you can shove it back up, and strap it back into place, which is very unsafe.
Vehicle has 101,564 miles. Driver side visor flops down into driver field of vision. Visor will not stay in up position when operating the vehicle. Must be replaced as there is no adjustment which corrects the defective condition. After reading forums this was a common complaint by other owners.
First, oil is leaking on alternator and area around, car needs a valve cover gasket, driver airbag light stays on, passenger sun visor wont stay up, the vehicle has 149000 miles on it. There are to many complaints for these subjects, a recall needs to be issued.
Sun visor will not stay in place, visibility obstructed and dangerous.
The sun visor suddenly dropped and it will no longer stay up. Dangerous impediment to vision while driving. Appears to be a common problem, but Hyundai will not repair it although they could do so at only minor cost.
The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the drivers side visor came down while the vehicle was in motion and impacted the contact's visibility several times. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and provided no solution. The failure mileage was not available.
I've replace the sun visor on the driver's side about 2 years ago because of a "drooping" sun visor that would affect the drivers visibility. Since then both the driver and the passenger side visors "droop" whenever we try to use them. The visors are essentially useless and a detriment to our visibility and safe driving.
The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, he heard a loud explosion and noticed that the sun roof had exploded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that they could not determine the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The visor on my car has been broken for about two years now. At first it was just annoying while driving but I feel it is a safety concern now. The visor stays up by kevlar but I need to redo it since the plastic threads are no longer holding it together. I shouldn't have to hold the visor with my left hand because the manufacturer designed the visor badly. On a sunny day the visor won't stay in the position placed but stays in a vertical position, blocking my sight. Also, the cup holder design is horrible. The aftermarket cup holders won't even fit inside. Only large diameter cups can be held securely. Standard cups are not held secure. I need to be conscious of where the cup is when driving. A cup holder should actually hold the cup in place and not cause concern to the driver.
While driving the drivers side sunvisor came loose and now hangs down obstructing the driver's view. The sun visor no longer will stay up, it always hangs down.
Passenger seat belt light is on dashboard. It doesn't matter if there is someone in the seat or not. Sun visor on driver doesn't stay up. Had it replaced due to not being able to stay up. Now the passenger side visor is doing the same thing. Visor shouldn't be having issues. As for seatblet light. Hopefully a recall will take care of this.
Sun visor will not stay up in upright position. Continues to fall posing an obstructed visibility problem when driving and diverts attention from safe driving.
Driver sunvisor falls into your vision unexpectedly.
The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the front driver's side sun visor became partially detached from the housing unit and blocked the contact's view of the roadway. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the visor should be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and also informed the contact that the visor would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 80,000.
Both sun visors failed dropping down interfering front visibility. One was replaced at dealer under warranty but refused to pay for the other one repair.
Sun visor will not stay in the up position and hinders drivers view. Visor is defective. Problem is widespread.
The visor on the drivers side does not stay up. It hangs loosely down all the time. This is a driving hazard because it is always blocking your vision day and night. At night it is especially dangerous because you just can't plain see. I found online that the manufacturer knows about this issue and has corrected on later models but there a a number of vehicles out there there that used this defective part. I wrote hyandai and there response was "your 2006 Sonata is no longer covered under the limited warranty based on the date of first use (dfu). With that in mind, we are unable to provide assistance with the cost of the parts needed for your Sonata. We apologize for the disappointment this may cause you. Please use the following link to navigate onto the NHTSA website if you wish to pursue to file a complaint. " this is not right. If they know is is defective then they should fix it. They know they built a part that is defective and hinders the safety of driving a vehicle and do not offer to fix it??.
Sunvisor both passenger and driver retention clips gave out. Sunvisors now hang down and wont stay in place. The dealer and Hyundai refuse to fix a design defect.
The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the driver's side sun visor released independently which distorted the vision. The velcro strips were used to secure the sun visor in an upward position. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
While driving my 2006 Hyundai Sonata at around 45 miles per hour, the driver's side sun visor fell directly into my line of vision. The mechanism that holds the visor up against the roof of the car is damaged, and the visor now flops up and down freely. Now the passenger side visor no longer works (114,000 miles) and both are a little over $100 to replace, and both of which present serious safety hazards. Imagine driving down the freeway and having a sun visor fall down and keep you from being able to see stopping cars. This needs to be fixed.
Both sun visors have collapsed and refuse to stay in the upright position. They fall down in front of my eyes at various times causing visibility issues. This is not safe!.
The driver side (and the passenger side) sun visor fall down(droop) while driving and has been causing serious visibility issues.
Sunvisor falls into my line of vision.
The pump for the windshield wiper fluid went out right after the warranty ran out at 60k miles. It was either defective or this is a planned obsolescence. Although this is not a major issue like brakes, when you are on the freeway and get splashed with mud from a passing truck, and you can no longer see through your windshield since the wipers just smear the mud over the glass, the absence of a working fluid pump could be life threatening. My husband had to pull off the road and use water from a bottle of drinking water he had in the car to clear the windshield so he continue driving safely. In this economy many people will not be able to pay the $120 + to replace the pump and will continue to drive with decreased visibility.
Sun visor on drivers side wouldn't stay up. Was replaced under warranty, but a year or so later again wouldn't stay up. And the passenger side visor also won't stay up.
Visor arm joint cracked, causing visor to loosen and affect visibility.
