The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the instrument panel became inoperable and the brake lights failed without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously serviced per NHTSA campaign numbers: 09v122000 (services brakes, hydraulic) and 09v280000 (exterior lighting). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The esc off dashboard warning light is on and the brake lights are not working correctly.

3 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 15 mph, the rear brake light failed to illuminate whenever the brake pedal was engaged. The contact was alerted of the failure by a driver in another vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

4 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2010

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired for an exterior light recall. While stopped, another driver informed the contact that three out of four brake lights were non-functional. When the contact inspected, she noticed that the brake lights did not function unless the headlights were on; one of the brake lights on the drivers side did not function even with the headlight on. The vehicle had not been taken to an authorized dealership at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 47,000.

5 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The vehicle failed state inspection because the high mounted rear stop light bulb failed. The owners manual does not include operational instructions on replacement of the high mounted rear stop light bulb. He was in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The failure and current mileages were 48,221.

6 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated the headlights did not illuminate brightly and caused a decrease in visibility. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the headlights were adjusted. The repair did not remedy the failure. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was not included in either related recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 08e021000 (exterior lighting:headlights) or 09e012000 (exterior lighting). The contact also stated that the air bag light intermittently illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the air bag light trouble code was cleared. The contact was then informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 08v161000 (air bags). The failure recurred and in addition, the contact stated that the anti-lock brake light intermittently illuminated on the instrument panel. The failure mileage was 5 and the current mileage was 48,000. The VIN was unavailable.

7 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2006

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that both headlights and the brake lights failed intermittently. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 13v113000 (exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic) and contacted the manufacturer, who stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

8 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

2007 Hyundai Sonata. Consumer requests reimbursement for replacement brake lights. Consumer expressed a discontent in regards to the cost of the lights themselves and the labor charge for replacement. The consumer stated the dealer replaced the stop lamp switch under recall. However, she believed the reason the brake lights burned out was due to the malfunctioning stop lamp.
