1 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2019

When I exit my car and my headlight are turned to off position and close door, my running lights stay on. Which I have jad to chargr my battery due yo this. So er thought it was the headlamp switch. Still having the same problem. So looked up the problem and found a couple different forums stating that this is a relay problem. The biggest problem is that this relay is integrated into the fuse box. So in order fpr this problem to be fixed I am told I have to replace a fuse box. I am not the only one with thos issue. This happenes every time I exit my vechicle after driving it. This needs to be recalled. 2. My drivers side and passenger visors do not stay up. I have gotten hit in the head. This should also be on recall.

2 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2016

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. While driving various speeds, the sun visors detached and obstructed the contact's view. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the sun visors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage and VIN were not available.

3 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

The sun visor on the passenger side will not stay in the up position. It creates a blind spot when attempting to enter traffic or make right hand turns. The drivers side is now beginning to drop as well. It will drop about an inch and then all of a sudden it will drop down even further blocking my vision and startling me.

4 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2016

Sun visor is obstructing the view of the road. It does not want to stay up anymore due to mechanical failure on the bumpy road. There is TSB or campaign on it, but local clarksville, MD Hyundai dealer refused to replace the visor.

5 Wiper problem

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the driver's and passenger side sun visor partially detached and obstructed the view of the driver. 6 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2015

The driver side sun visor for my vehicle has been drooping for over a year. It would hang just low enough to obstruct my vision through the windshield, but also block view of the rear view mirror. For some time, I was able to work around the problem, shifting the visor backwards against the windshield, in order to provide clear vision. This morning, however, I entered my vehicle to find that the visor had completely broken. Now, there is no tension to hold the visor in place against the roof of the vehicle or the windshield, it merely hangs down. There is no way for me to safely drive my vehicle, as my view of the road is completely obstructed. Shifting the visor off to the side only serves to block any and all view of my blind spots.

7 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2015

The passenger visor broke creating a visual hazard because it will not fold up to the ceiling. It remains in the down position. It just snappef while attempting to adjust it. There are recalls on other visors that have done the same thing. This happened to the drivers side visor 5 years ago and was covered inder warranty. I feel like this is a defect in design which causes the visor to snap.

8 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

Heard cracking sound when visor was put in down position. After that the sun visor doesn't stay up.

9 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2015

The sun visor on the passenger side will not stay up, I don't care how I try and prop it up it keeps falling down obstructing my view on that side. I was not aware of how prevalent this problem was in the Sonata. When I finally mentioned it at my service appointment they said it would cost me $92. 74 for the part, this was 1/29/15 and I had 57,525 miles on my car. I don't drive my car much so it should not be falling apart.

10 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2015

I was driving straight down a city street at approximately 20mph when I heard a loud bang and saw glass fly from my car in my rear view mirror. I pulled off the road and saw that my sunroof glass panel had completely shattered, leaving a hole about a foot in diameter. There was no object that hit my car. I had my sunroof cover closed; I would have been seriously injured and likely to cause a wreck if it had been left opened.

11 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 70 mph and going over a bump in the road, the driver side sun visor fell down into the line of sight. The failure recurred on several occasions while driving various speeds. The contact stated that the failure occurred on the passenger side on several occasions and failed to close. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

12 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2014

While I was driving down the highway, the driver's side visor spontaneously fell down blocking my view. The visor would no longer stay in an upright position. After doing some research, this appears to be a common issue with the model year of my vehicle. Hyundai has a technical service bulletin out for numerous states, but apparently, it doesn't cover my state and vehicle. They are refusing to repair the visor at no cost to me, even though this appears to be a safety issue. It's concerning there is no recall that has been issued for this issue.

13 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

Sunvisor on the driver's side dropped down without a warning and will not go back to the upgright position and continues to drop down. This is a safety hazard especially when driving on the road and visor drops down without a warning and blocks driver's view and can cause an accident. This should be a recall to have this fix.

14 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2014

The sun visors on these cars (as well as 2006 and 2008 models, I believe) are defective. They do not stay up, which causes visibility issues. This is a well-known issue among Sonata owners, and Hyundai has known about this for years. They refuse to issue a recall, and dealerships want over $100 per visor to fix.

15 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2013

Both sunvisors have lost their tension and now flop down anytime there is movement while driving. It startled me while driving. I am having to use double sided sticky tape to hold it in place now making the sunvisor not usable.

16 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that both the driver and passenger's side sun visors sporadically failed to remain secure when placed in an upward position. The malfunction distorted the contact's visibility when driving. There was voluntary recall issued by the manufacturer related to the sun visor however, the vehicle was ineligible for the recall because the vehicle was not registered in a sun belt state. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

17 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

Sunvisors fall down blocking vision through windshield.

18 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

I was driving my car and suddenly the driver sun visor dropped to the point where it obscured my view of the road. It now wont stay up and its a danger. The same has also started to happening with the passenger side causing passengers to become annoyed with having to try and wedge an object in to the top of the sun visor to stop it dropping down. This is a risk because if there is a crash their face would be propelled towards the now propped up blunt edge of the visor, same with the driver. I went in to a dealership and was told there is no recall which I find insane as this is a big issue. I could have had it fixed for free at 60,000 miles but I am now well passed that millage and the issue did not start until after 60,000 miles. Hyundai needs to take responsibility for this issue before someone gets hurt in an accident due to obscured road visibility.

19 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2013

The driver's side sun visor mechenism broke and the visor now hangs down impairing the driver's visibility. This is a common complaint for this model year Sonata according to my internet research. Hyundai has issued technical serv. Bulletin #09-01-00, Feb. 2009 this problem to its dealers so it obviously is a common problem. Also see NHTSA item #10028945.

20 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

This has happened on multiple, intermittent occasions. When decelerating while exiting a highway, the steering wheel "sticks" in the straight-ahead position. It becomes very difficult to turn & navigate a highway exit that curves. You have to fight with the wheel and pull hard to make it turn, at which point it feels like the wheel "unlocks" and turns freely again. This is truly a safety concern. I have only taken for service once, and they did not find anything wrong (now that I see others have had this issue, I plan on scheduling service again). I have had to replace my driver's side visor due to the spring breaking and the passenger side is slowly hanging and will probably break too. I too had issues with the esc and jerking and pulling not long after I purchased the car, but those issues were addressed (after many trips to the shop & several highway scares) and finally repaired.

21 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

Sun visor will not stay up . Stays down and blocks visibility.

22 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2013

Sun visor won't stay up.

23 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2013

The sun visor has become very loose and keeps opening up blocking my view of the road.

24 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

I just filed a complaint about my 2006 and this is for my 2007 Hyundai visor. It is broke and a safety issue. I also read there was a recall for this visor issue in some states, but not all or mine in illinois. Not sure how true this is, but in any case should be a recall for all affected vehicles.

25 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2012

Passenger side sun visor has "sprung" and will no longer stay in the up or down position. This impedes driver visibility and also creates a hazard for a passenger getting into the car. A passenger recently struck her head on the visor while getting into the car.

26 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2012

The driver and passenger sun visors do not stay in the upright position. They fall down while driving, causing visibility problems and potential head injury. Contacted dealer, and then escalated thru Hyundai regional service organization to get this addressed according to Hyundai technical service bulletin 08-01-029, Hyundai recall campaign t64. Hyundai refused to service vehicle under the recall, despite the VIN being included in the recall classification.

27 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2012

Sun visors suddenly broke and fell into driver's field of vision. Even when snapped into upright position, they drop and block visibility. This issue has not been experienced in any other vehicle. This is a safety concern and should be a recall item as research indicates that this has been a known issue for some time.

28 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2012

Sun visors will not stay up, especially in warmer conditions. This is a safety issue as when they drop to down position while driving visibility is impaired. Almost ran a red light recently because they fell down and I could not see the light any longer.

29 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2012

The driver's side sun visor tensioner broke (defective), allowing the visor to move down to a point where it was directly in your eyes, affecting road visibility. After researching the internet, it was determined to be a quick do-it-yourself fix after purchasing the visor on-line for less than $50. However, after reviewing the multiple complaints on this same problem, a decision was made to add weight to this common problem that Hyundai has failed to address.

30 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2012

We have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata with two defective sun visors. One started to fall down and not stay up in position about 3 years ago. Now both are defective and stay down all the time and are not able to stay up at all greatly effecting the visibility from within this vehicle. I'm a tall person and have to constantly shift the visor on both sides in order to see oncoming traffic. Hyundai has a "campaign" notice for 2006-2008 Sonata's with the same problem but only in warm states. The cost of the visors are between $90 and $100 dollars. Hyundai offered to give us $100. 00 toward our next service, but we'd just like to have the defective parts replaced like in the warm states.

31 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. While parked, the contact attempted to close the front passenger side window but it would not close. The contact had to manually push the window closed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics and the technician replaced the window module. One year after the repair, the front driver side window would not open or close. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that they would not repair the vehicle because the warranty had recently expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

32 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Both visors have broken, along with the drink holder in the middle console. There is a recall for a 2007 Hyundai Sonata in some states; however, my vehicle apparently isn't included in that. I have been reading forums on this problem and it is apparent it, in fact, is a problem and needs a resolution to both defects. I contacted Hyundai about it and they say that my VIN is "not covered". I think it is ludacrous that Hyundai doesn't take action to fix this and they will continue to lose customers.

33 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

2007 Sonata both sun visors have failed still under 70,000 miles. The passenger side changed under warranty, it began sagging again a few months after replacement. Yesterday the drivers side made a cracking sound, it is now completely hanging down, interfering with my view.

34 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2010

Upon purchase of my used 2007 Sonata almost immediately both sun visors broke. We were informed it wasn't under warranty. I have lived with it but it is a safety hazard and upon searching for a recall I found this has affected thousands of unhappy Sonata owners. I found a service bulletin that applies to only certain states. What's the deal with that. . . Should be all states.

35 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2008

Both of my visors have never stayed up, they are always down in my line of vision this probably started 6 months after I had the car. I took it to the dealer they stated it was not covered. A few years back the drivers side air bag light came on and is still on. The passengers air bag comes on and goes off regularly. My back break lights have had to be replaces several times, something is wrong with them. Again the dealer wanted to charge me to replace them after my husband had just replaced them. There are so many parts that are falling apart. The gear shift has broken and the back handles on the outside of the car are broken. My brakes rotate and the whole care shakes when I press on the breaks on the freeway. Now my back end is making noises. I bought this car new , but will never buy another car from Hyundai again, this is the worst car I have ever had. From the beginning I have had problems and the dealer never wanted to fix anything unless I payed for it. I am not paying for things that I did not break. .
