The Hyundai Sonata 2011 fuel pump failed and the car stopped in the middle of the road. Putting me in danger of an accident. The engine had been replaced, and other Sonatas have reported problems with the fuel pump. The cost of repair was $605 for the pump and $300 for the labor. This pump is in the fuel tank and is very dangerous. It should be recalled just like the ones in the 2013 & 2014. I want a refund of my money to fix this dangerous problem.
I had problems with my car took it to a shop I was told had to replace my fuel pump an I did the problem never seem to have been fix after that took it my dealer an they had my car for a month told me it was a recall on it but they didn't fix the problem.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While operating the vehicle, smoke was present coming from the engine and oil was leaking on top of the valve cover. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump return pressure unit was cracked, which damaged the ignition coil and caused a flame to occur. The vehicle was not repaired. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,000.
7/19 bought my 2011 Sonata then two days later check engine light came on. Took to dealership they said gas cap was loose and if it came back on to bring back in. 2 weeks later went to gas station, came back out car wouldnt start. No click or anything. All power worked as well. Walked home started researching, other owners had the same issue. Walked back determined to try some things I read about. Car started without me doing anything. No check light came on. Next day driving check engine light came on and thats when I took back to dealership. Of course it started up whenever they tried it so they wrote could not duplicate customer concern. They ran diagnostics and they said purge valve was found to be shortned internally. Code p0455. 500 bucks later because no warranty (as is vehicle) not even a month off the dam lot. . . My instructions were when filling up with fuel do not top off beyond when the fuel pump shuts off. Fuel could enter the purge valve/canister via vent tubes. Wtf. . . . They wouldnt cover even though the dealership put the gas in when I bought it so it wasnt me. . . . Lucky me :(.

Twice now car had just stopped running took to dealer said it was fuel pump two weeks later same thing at dealer now being towed I thank god I wasn't in an accident.
High pressure fuel pump and brakes.
Vehicle is hesitant to crank. I have to hold switch a few seconds before it will start. I have taken it to the shop and they said it needs a new fuel pump and that this is a very common issue with these types of car.
Fuel sender (in tank fuel sensor) has failed. First noticed over a year ago with intermittent erroneous fuel gauge reading after refueling, but quickly corrected its self. Noticed the full failure a day after I had refueled and my fuel gauge read half full. Assumed that I was a victim of fuel theft, but no sign of forced entry to my fuel door. I refueled and the car topped off within about a gallon. However the gauge was still reading low. Assumed that maybe the thieves had damaged and partially obstructed my fill hose with a lost syphon hose. Over the next few days the gauge slowly rose to full. Now the gauge fluctuates between full and half full. Researched the sending unit and found that this was a known problem with three models and a TSB (sb-10052842-7701) for inspection of the unit was issued may 2013 and a replacement procedure (sb-10060967-2273) was issued June 2014. Aftermarket replacement part is affordable at approximately $45 from third part vendor, but the replacement procedure is complicated by the high risk of working with gasoline and either trying to remove the fuel pump in the tight confines of the car with the fuel tank still installed or removing the tank with residual fuel.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the vehicle shut down without any warning indicator. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who, after diagnosing the failure, contacted a local dealer, and reported that the pigtail on the fuel pump shut-ed out electrically and burned. The dealer advised that the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not on warranty. The failure was 57,543. Fe.
Fuel gauge and fuel pump sending unit. Safety issue with the fuel gauge as it will not accurately show fuel level and will sometimes show empty because of a faulty fuel pump sending unit. The warranty on this vehicle should be extended to repair this safety issue. This started approximately two years ago and has gotten progressively worse.
The fuel pump module has high resistance at the connector and burned a hole through it. Connector burned* that should not have happened, this could have caused an explosion or a fire to start. . . This is not normal wear and tear and is a safety hazard. . . . The part was manufactured wrong and should not have worn out. We are thankful that we are still alive.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate when contact depressed the acceleration pedal. The vehicle was taken for inspection, who stated there was a failure with the fuel pump. The fuel pump was replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle surged when driving, and pulled to a side. The vehicle was taken to dealer, who stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 22,000. The current mileage was 28,710. Yn.
1) within three months of buying this car, starting issues began. Generally on the second start of the day. First start of the day usually involves high engine revving somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,500 rpm. After a short trip, ignition will no click over attempt to restart. Usually second or third try result in a start. Despite dealer replacement of starter, fuel pump and battery, the problem continues periodically. 2) rear brakes needed replacement at 24k miles. Wear was uneven: left brake was grinding into rotor and right brake was only about 50 percent worn. Had dealership check for possible faulty calipers, but they claimed they found no issues and would not cover under warranty. In contrast, the car still has the original front brakes.
