I was driving vehicle at about 30 mph on main road and vehicle shuts off while I was driving. I attempted to get a jump engine does not start. Weird smell coming from engine.
I have an unrepaired recall since February 28 2020 with no remedy availible. My steering wheel cam shaft is making a loud clicking sound.
When I was driving on the highway in the thirdb left lane all of a sudden the car started to beep and stated hybrid system failure stop take to shop don't drive but the car lost power before I can pull over and stall on the highway luckily I cut it all the way off and cut it back on and was able to move it.
I was at a fast food drive thru I had my car in park because the line was long once I tried to pull up my wouldnt move the gears was sliding up and down and I didnt understand why. I had my kids in the car 4 hours later a tow truck came and tow the car and it cost me $100 bucks its been two months and my car still do not shift.
The paint is peeling on the hood of the car. On the dash there are 2 cracks one on either side of the airbag enclosure. The steering wheel has the rubber peeling off. The paint on the top of the roof panel is cracked/ready to peel off. The car was in my driveway. I had to replace the transmission sensor with harness 6/03/2030 I only had 42171 miles at the cost of $751. 47 . My warranty is for 10 years and 100,000 miles but they said it wasn't covered. I was driving when the check engine light came on and I made the appointment immediately and brought it in 6/03/2020 to the Hyundai dealership.
It first, just started with the tail light going out. Then, they started getting real hot. T the bulbed started melting and could get out. Now, it's burn where the bulb goes. It's burned and had melted around where can't replace a bulb. Call the dealership they said; need to replace the whole lamp each side is $230 for each. I had got stop watch by the police for not having no tail lights. I can not afford the repairs. My car note is $362. 00. And, have been off and on of work do to conv19.
So my steering wheel coupler has gone bad I knew there was a recall on this when I first got the car; when I went to the Hyundai dealership nobody would fix it and they tried to charge me $600 to fix it. And because of covid I couldnt get it fixed since I was furloughed. Then I was charged $500 to try to find what a ticking noise. Was in my car and I was charged for. Something that Hyundai didnt fix and other dealers charged me and my issue still wasnt fixed. All together I wasted almost $1100 to find a way to fix my issues and nothing was fixed. The second issue I was told was heat box and actuator but it wasnt fixed because Hyundai tried to charge me $3,041. 84. . . . . I know alot of. Things are apart of these recalls this car have but no one even Hyundai was willing to fix it free of charge.
My steering wheel starts shaking when I go over 60mph and whenever I drive through a slightly bumpy road.
My engine blew out after the recall was said to be complete.
When vehicle is put from park into drive it jilts and when driving shifts hard, took it into mechanic shop and they told me its a recall and that Hyundai is being difficult with wanting to fix it. Also gave me the papers for information on the transmission temperature sensor recall.
2013 Hyundai Sonata hybrid I have been back and forth to the dealer several times in regards to my car shutting down on me. In the middle of me driving it will start beeping loud and while losing power the panel reeds pull over safely and shut engine off. The second time I take it to the dealer he said don't allow the gas to get two 1/4 of a tank. So I had kept it at half a tank and yet again it lost all power and shut down on me in the middle of driving. Totally not safe! take it back to the Hyundai dealer and was told the battery and everything looks okay. I was sent home again! then one morning my car would not start. I read a forum that said jiggle the shift around or put it in drive and then back up to park and then press the button for it to start. It literally worked and I took a video of me doing those steps. I took the car back to Hyundai dealer show them the video. I also told them that the forum said to replace the inhibitor switch. The mechanic agreed but yet puzzled about the car shutting down on me. This happened again yesterday Friday Feb 28, 2020 and I called today they said may be looked at on Monday. So my car is yet at the dealer until the engineers are able to look at it. I'm tired of getting my car back and having the same issues over and over again. My car has around 87,000 miles and yet under warranty until 100,000 miles. I should not have to pay for these dangerous issues. I called a few times to see if there was a recall on my car but no recall. I just bought this car in November of 2019 and the issue started a week later the day after thanksgiving. It is now February 2020 and I'm yet dealing with these issues. I'm totally at wit's end. It won't let me upload the video but here are a few pictures!.
My engine's car start vibrating suddenly a couple of months ago when I reach more less 45 mph . Car's brake system doesn't brake equally, always pulls from one side and I have to be caring of wheel steering due to itthird time I almost crash other car in front of me ,cause also doesn't brake good ,even I'm pushing all over down.
Making a bad knocking noice on driver front side by the wheel when turning in one direction the car in the opposite direction driving on the highway and street.
Takata recall, I've been experiencing brakes, my steering wheel shakes when I brake, and the exterior lights my tail lights are going off and on. All these issues were from January of 2019 current date July 27, 2019. I have taken my vehicle to the dealership and mavis tire. I got a new axle, brakes, routers, new tail lights nothing is working. It's been long overdue. Hyundai dealer wants a total of $1700 to fix. I refuse when I verbal told them there are complaint from all vehicle owners that had the same module vehicle as me. I looked and there is no recall on these issues. I told them I have three little kids and I don't feel safe driving my car anywhere because of these issues. Hyundai refuse to help!!!.
Yesterday, I noticed driving that 3 sensors came on in my car . The sensors were abs, ecs, and low tire pressure. I called my dealership immediately and stated the problem the gentleman told me to come in Thursday July 25th 2019 and that it will be free of charge for a diagnostic . Thursday morning I awoke and travel 30 minutes away to the dealership. Upon 15 minutes from my departure a 4th light illuminated on my dashboard (eps) I begin to feel tension in my steering wheel . Once I arrived at the dealership I informed them that during my route here another light came on which turned out to be electric power steering . He informed me that it was a bad abs speed sensor and that the cost of the repair would amount to roughly $600 r. We asked two of the employees if it was safe for us to even drive they both stated yes I departed from the dealership and once I merged onto the highway my heart dropped as I seen a new light illuminate on my dashboard and it just so happened to be my check engine light my steering wheel felt as if it locked up on me I went to press the brakes and the pedal went to the ground I was about 20 ft behind another vehicle if it wasn't for the shoulder I would have crashed not only were myself and my fianc's life at risk but my unborn child also and the innocent civilians in the vehicle in front of me that I would have rear ended at 60 miles per hour this has me very upset and anxious being I almost got in a serious accident 2 week before my expected due date. I feel this is very unsafe and no car should be doing this unexpectedly, with no accidents or damage to the car. I don't know what else to do. Thank you sincerely, kaitlyn popko.
Vehicle is intermittantly cutting out while driving or at a stop. 88k miles multiple events within days now. Esc comes on and won't turn off since warm weather arriving. Normal dry running conditions. Loss of power to drivetrain. Accelerator depressed causes loud abnormal tin ringing sound from engine compartment. Have to pull the car over to shut off and restart. Condition occurs whether esc switch is on or off. Manual shifting is disabled. Transmission feels jerky just before. Esc event seems to occur mostly when accelerator is released up to a stop or cruising. Release of accelerator, trans jerks, esc engages but won't release till car is reset. Vehicle underwent a recall campaign for a bad transmission temp sensor cable recently. Dealer says no code, no fix possibility. Car occasionally smells like burning rubber.
I started my car warm it up and start driving a few miles the car just stopped in the middle of a highway, glad I was able to drive it to the side of a road. Now the vehicle isn't starting at all, when I checked the engine bay there was smoke coming out and it smelled like burned plastic.
While driving on a highway 60 mph my vehicle began to stall and turn off. The vehicle mileage decrease and the car completely turned off I was unable to place hazards lights on or signals because the power on the vehicle had turned off. Upon pulling over the following day trying to start vehicle it began to smoke. It did not crank or make any noise just smoke coming up from the hood. This an result to safety recall NHTSA # 17v226000 or safety recall # 162. Which is wear within the engine. Engine failure may result in a vehicle stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Thankfully I did not crash but my vehicle stalled and completely shut off with no power to dash/radio etc which is a very dangerous occurrence.

I have a Hyundai Sonata 2013, when I go to start my car my key is not being detected. I have a push to start keyless entry car. I have had the battery replaced, changed the battery in the key pad thinking that would solve the problem but apparently it did not. This is ridiculous, I have to wait 30 mins before my car will start.
Takata recall -all of the exterior lights on the car will blow within a few weeks of replacing. -the back lights will melt into the bulb socket and require the entire unit to be replaced. -the brake lights all shut off, even though the bulbs are fine. - cruise control wont work (this came on at the same time of the computer update on engine recall. -traction control warning light came on after recall to update computer on engine (from previous engine recall) -my radio completely stopped working after the initial recall for engine replacement.
I feel like I'm investing more money into this vehicle than I should. You guys know that these Hyundai Sonata 2013+ has electrical issue and should have a recall to be fixed. My horn doesn't work and my tail lights are melting after I just payed to get them fixed. This is a safety hazard !!!!!!! you guys need to get this right , it doesn't take more than 24hrs to do a investigation and approve the recalls for people to get their cars fixed , I will never buy a Hyundai again.
Car began to start braking on its own at approximately 94,000 miles while driving in clear weather both at high and low speeds. Shortly after, the esc malfunction light on the dash came on. Took it to the dealership where the brake pedal stopper was replaced. (note: this has not been recalled on this model) less than two weeks later the problem was back. Took the car back to the dealership. Brake pedal switch was replaced. Again a few weeks later the problem was back. Dealership could not find the problem. After weeks of back and forth with Hyundai, they finally sent an engineer. Now they're saying the casing for the tail lights need to be replaced because the brake lights have burned the wiring and melted the casing. All during this time, my car will start (push button) without having my foot on the brakes. This is a serious safety issue. I've read reports of the brake lights staying illuminated due to the brake pedal stopper issue. I'm assuming this is what caused the melting and wiring issue. The brake pedal stopper needs to be recalled for this model!.
The gear locked in neutral had to go under the hood and manually put car in park the gear shift stick will move freely but the gears are not shifting the care is running fine brake lights are working and the check engine light is not on car starts up fine.
My brake lights always going out , now when I turn on my head lights my car stop.
Nothing has happened so far but it has a really bad steering problems. It seems so sensitive but I read on edmunds that a lot of people are have similar problems with this year make model and year also. It goes to the right and left a lot and won't stay straight. That is unsafe. Please have Hyundai look into this.
I was driving 65 mph on the garden state parkway southbound in the middle lane returning home from yankee stadium. Without any warning my car lost all power and was barely able to pull the car over to the shoulder of the highway avoiding several cars traveling at highway speed. Seven weeks later I am still awaiting car repairs from circle Hyundai in shrewsbury NJ and a cost of over $400. My engine failed with barely 20,000 miles.
This issue has been a constant in my car, which I purchased new. My brake lights stop working. I have replaced them at least 10 times since I bought the vehicle. I consulted my dealership and they told me that the car had a defect. The brake light socket overheated and melted and caused the brake lights to fail. I checked the socket, and it is melted. I was told that it was a brake sensor problem. My dealership told me that I would have to pay to replace the whole brake/taillight assembly. This is obviously a safety concern. I only learn that my lights are not working when someone outside the vehicle, usually someone driving behind me, lets me know. Also, the melted socket would seem to be a real fire hazard.
Hyundai has created a lot of problems since buying this car in my life. I have had 3 recalls corrected and recently got a moto replacement after almost killing myself driving down the high way and my car shutting off on me. Also, you can drive from my job and house and find 3-4 Sonata's who have brake lights out. This is ridiculous. Please do something about this!!!!.
Approximately 2 - 3 weeks prior to the discovery myproblem esc light would come on while driving and stay on. I checked my bluelink system to see if I had an error, however, there was not issues apparently. I decided to wait as I was about to go to the dealer for my second oil change. On the day in question I was about to take a two hour drive. When I got on to hwy I heard a loud sound coming from front of car I pulled over, got out and looked at car could not see anything, got back on hwy, noise began again. Seeing I was not far from a dealership I decided to go have it checked out. I explained about the esc light remaining on. They took my car in to shop and looked at it. Dealership advised me that all my tires were bald. I asked how this was possible they said they did not know. I had done all required maintenance at the dealership and had done it prior to it being needed. Dealer checked records to verify that required maintenance was done, which they confirmed it was. Dealer stated there was nothing they could do. I called corporate Hyundai who stated it sounded like a tire problem which was not their issue, however, they would transfer me to khumo the maker of my tires. Corporate advised me that once tire issue was corrected if I still had an esc issue then they could look at getting that fixed. Khumo wanted me to get tread measurements done, forward info to them and then they would make a decision on whether or not they were going to possibly help me out on the cost of new tire. Remember just over 8000 miles on my car that was bought at the end of Dec 2012. This could have been a serious issue if I would have continued my two hour drive, which would have been mostly hwy driving. I have also had an issue with my steering wheel locking.
I was on the right most lane on highway 121 at 70 miles speed when my car started pulling right & left as if it was skidding on ice. The weather was fine. It was very scary. I was holding the steering with both hands. After that day, whenever I go over the speed of 60, car starts pulling left & right. I have to be extra careful while driving on the freeways.
When driving the vehicle constantly moves either to the right or left. There is not going straight. I have taken to the dealer and explained the problem. They said they took it for a road test and did not notice anything. There is clearly an issue here with this vehicle as there are many other comments relating to this issue. Please have this issued addressed as we should not be dealing with something like this when we are spending a lot of money for a brand new vehicle. This is poor service Hyundai. . .
Car drifts to left and right. Fight to keep on road. Hyundai says get used to it. Gov't needs to step in and fix this before someone gets killed!!!!!.
While getting on the on-ramp to the highway, the power steering failed, causing me to almost lose control of the vehicle. Steering was extremely hard to use. The eps light and skid control lights both came on, and later bluelink noted error also.
I purchased brand new 2013 Hyundai Sonata limited in August'12. After buying when I was riding back home on freeway(approx speed 60 mph) the car tends to drift in either left or right and keep on wandering in the lane. It is pretty difficult to keep the vehicle in the lane. There are almost two incidents where I just escaped the accidents because of this problem which could have been fatal. When I contacted the dealer they told that it is because of banking on the roads but I tested the same road and route with other vehicle which performed as it should be, no drift or anything. Even the tire pressure and wheel balancing is fine so this is definitely a issue with the electronic steering and stability. Please look into this matter as it could be life threatening and most of the consumers are facing it with no response from the company. Thanks.
