What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? >rear window imploded, rear moon roof hairline fractures how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? >shards of glass fell. If a passenger was present, glass would have fell on them has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? >no has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? >not yet. Insurance claim just made. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? >no warnings present uploads of photos/videos will occur afterwards.
My passenger side rear door will not open from the outside or the inside. You pull the handle on the outside and nothing happens. You push the door from the inside and nothing even budges (the door lock still works not that there's a use for it right now). This seems to me to be a safety risk for anyone that has to sit in the backseat behind the front passenger seat. If there were an emergency, they would not be able to open the door to get out. I have googled this and it seems to happen quite frequently in Hyundai cars. It's the door actuator. If this happens a lot, then I think Hyundai needs to take a deeper look into their door actuators. Thank goodness I do not have kids in a car seat because I would be unable to get them in or out on that side of the car. I've never had this happen on any of the toyotas I've owned.
Door will not open from inside or outside of the vehicle and it is a safety issue. There are forums of the same issue with this make and models.
The passenger rear door will not open, it is a common problem affecting multiple lines of Hyundai's for the last 10 years, at least that is what shows in a simple internet search, dealer agrees its a safety issue but since Hyundai refuses to issue safety recall they will not fix it unless I pay nearly $2000. Only way to even begin to try and open door is to break the door panel - locks, windows and handle all work fine, the the rod/cable that triggers the door release to open. This has been going on for nearly 10 years and still no recall - seems like they want people to get stuck int he car with no wasy to escape.
While driving 65 on the freeway I heard a loud pop sound. . I thought it was a gun shot or tire exploding, then I noticed the sunroof sounded open so I hit the close button & nothing, so I opened it to try to re-close & once open I noticed the sunroof glass had shattered and the glass was falling on me, cutting my arms and face, glass everywhere in my car, getting in my fingers while trying to get it off me. Glass flying off the roof onto cars behind me. Very dangerous. I see many other people have had the same problem. And yet still no recall!!.
The left rear door does not open from the outside or inside. When you engage the door lock/unlock for the remote or inside the vehicle, the door lock/unlock moves but does not disengage the lock. The door cannot be opened and this is a huge safety issue. There are several people on various message boards having the same issue. The dealer want to charge me $1000 to fix.
Driver door will not open from outside when parked. Not with unlocking with key or fob.
The back door on the drivers side will not close. There is a problem where the close/lock latch will not latch. The door flies open and has to be bungie corded inside the car to remain closed. The door will not latch to close.
I was driving on the highway (about 65 miles per hour) on a smooth road and then all of the sudden I hear a loud popping sound and then I hear air coming through my sunroof. I stopped and got out of the vehicle and noticed the majority of around the edge glass on the sunroof was gone and residual cracked pieces of glass (tempered glass pieces) remained around the edges. I noticed that when the glass came off it hit the rear trunk and scrapped the paint on the trunk.
On June 15, 2018, my car caught fire while driving down interstate 70, near greenville, illinois. There was no warning, just a noise similar to a loose piece of plastic. Black smoke billowed from behind the vehicle, and as I attempted to pull over, the engine shut down. Once we were on the side of the road, the fire was visible from under the engine. We contacted 911. The car is a total loss. This car had various recalls, all deemed 'resolved' by Hyundai. They did extend the warranty due to the known issues. I have reached out to them daily and have not heard back.
Vehicle in motion, seatbelt retractor did not safely perform. Airbag did not deploy at the scene of an accident where I rearended a utility truck on a residential roadway (two lane). There was a city recycle truck in front of the utility truck which. Abruptly stopped. As a result, auto damage, personal injury to myself.
I have a 2014 Hyundai Sonata. The panoramic sunroof exploded while I was driving. After trying to find a repair shop I seen that it is actually happening to all models with the panoramic roof from Hyundai. Is anyone else aware of this? what will Hyundai do about this? is it even safe to drive?.
