Parked or windows up gasoline vapor is inside vehicle. Source is a cracking fuel pump. Located under rear seat underneath an access cover. Youtube has videos. I'm not on youtube that is another party. I live in arizona and I park my vehicle on driveway, it gets really hot. I do not believe the plastic that cracker can take the heat!.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2016

My vehicle has a little over 16k miles on it and has stalled 4 times. Once after waiting at a light in the city, once while driving approx 10 mph in a parking lot and the worst while trying to climb a steep hill in a rural area as I was leaving home. The car slowly rolled down the hill, I was able to maneuver backwards around the curves but there was no power. I almost got hit by other cars several times due to the blind curves. The car remains on but will not accelerate and it sounds like the engine has stopped. After it stalls,I turn the car off and it will not restart. The last time it turned back on after at least 30 minutes. Have had to have it towed twice. The first time the dealer said it was a loose grounding wire to the fuel pump. The second time they said they could not replicate the problem but replaced the fuel pump. The car is not safe to drive, next time it stalls I might not be so lucky. Researching online there are several other possible causes which I plan on discussing with the dealer. There is no warning before it stalls so I cannot risk taking my children or anyone else in the vehicle.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2016

Shortly after exiting interstate and slowdown for signal, I attempted to accelerate and the vehicle was totally unresponsive, like I wasn't even giving it gas. I have had it serviced twice and towed once for stalling while driving, shuddering, sputtering. Took waiting and numerous attempts to get it restarted. The second time, the dealer kept it for a week in October and could not find anything. (this is my second complaint as I want all this documented). Doesn't mean it doesn't exist. They replaced the fuel pump. I just drove it back from out of town this weekend (300 miles) and I noticed the acceleration was quite sluggish especially when trying to accelerate to pass. It was like the passing gear would not engage. Afraid my car would just stall again, I did not pursue heavy acceleration or passing gear attempts any further. Then this happened today. I feel there is something definitely wrong with this vehicle, and that every time I drive it, I am at some kind of risk. Saw some other complaints about ecm. The problem needs to be identified and corrected; this is definitely a safety issue, especially at high speeds or heavy traffic. There is definitely something wrong here.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and shut down. The vehicle was restarted after a few minutes, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (advantage Hyundai, hickaville, new york) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The fuel pump was replaced, but the failure recurred ten days later. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not call the contact back. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 87,075.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2016

Driving at 75mph on I-77 northbound near charlotte, (lake norman) when suddenly the engine died. Traffic was heavy but thankfully I was able to coast to a narrow shoulder. Cars were coming within 2 feet of my car so my wife and I exited the vehicle and ran up an embankment to get out of harms way. Police and a tow truck arrived and took the car to lake norman Hyundai where a faulty fuel pump was diagnosed. The repair took two days since the part had to be ordered. The incident was harrowing and could have been tragic for both of us. The car was a little over one year old with just over 15,000 miles. Hyundai motors has been contacted but I get nowhere with the company. I am now concerned about the possibility of this recurring to my vehicle or someone else.

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2015

On 3 separate occassons the vehicle was on a major street when it just died. The first time was comng out of a stop at a red light, the second just when I was driving and the third time whle I was deaccelarating. Miraculalously I was able to use the last bit of momentum and pull over. The car started up again each tme. The dealer had no suggestions the first 2 times except for possble computer misfire. They released the car staitng it should be fine and they could not replcate the event. After starting a case with Hyundai they decided to replace the ignition coils and then the fuel pump. After much questioningand little cooperaion from Hyundai or the dealer, I was told that 1500 people reprted the same life threatenening event onn thier car. Not enough for a recall!!!someone is going to get killed. Neither the dealer or Hyundai thinks this is an issue. Case number 8479377. I have never received a call from the case engineer from Hyundai explaining any repairs as promised. Hyundai is unresponsive. The service manager is mike dsantis MD isalnd Hyundai centeeach ny631 580 0800.
