36 Service Brakes problem

37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

At 91000 miles the hydraulic braking system failed. Hyundai has a 100000 mile warranty on the powertrain for this vehicle but they refused to repair the car under warranty. This is a pretty common problem and I believe that there should be a recall at least, if they are not going to cover it under warranty. Repairs are astronomically expensive. I was quoted more than 7000 dollars to fix the problem. When the problem occured, the brakes become unusable and the car had to be towed to the dealership. I think Hyundai and its dealers should be held accountable for this type of failure.

38 Service Brakes problem

42 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

This car has received regular oil change including filter changes and the engine has been flushed twice because each time the oil change miles have occurred the oil in the engine appears to be muddy. This car is only being driven to and from local city limits and only has 65,000. The car started braking down slowly with no explanation. 1st battery died constantly we put in a new battery, then the starter failed we replaced with brand new starter now the engine is completely gone. All in a matter of one month. Based on all the 1,000 complaints I have read on this particular car, all have experienced the same thing. Please this needs to be investigated.

43 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2017

On Dec,. 21st, 2017 I entered a business parking lot at low speed as one would enter a parking lot and within a few feet turned right to enter an aisle between 2 rows of parked cars. At the second right I had my foot on the brake to slow but realized my car was not slowing, maybe even accelerating and then, horrified, realized my efforts to slow or stop were futile! I swerved to miss a person and fishtailed hitting a bumper of an unoccupied car. By then I was nearly t-bone to many cars on a busy street. Still not able to stop I made an abrupt turn to the right and was fortunate (yes, fortunate) to hit a retaining wall around business signs in order to stop the car. Thru these frantic very few seconds as I was trying to stop, my foot was on the brake, I couldn't pump it as one would expect to do and the vehicle seemed to be accelerating. My choice came down to hit many occupied cars on the street or turn and hit the retaining wall. Again, how fortunate it was there!! airbags didn't deploy; the car is a total loss. This is a very frightening experience. Could it be that other drivers of the Hyundai 2015 Sonata have not lived to tell what happened?.

44 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2017

I left harrisburg to drop 3 students to state college, driving for uber on 09/29/2017. Around 9:30pm in lewiston in mifflin county, we came across a short turn. I got a kind of sudden small speed. We were out of the road. I tried to stop and put the car back on the road, too late. We hit a mountain and the car was lying on his right side. Thanks god nobody got hurt; just chocked and some scratches. After reading the documents my insurance company sent to me, I realized there were a recall on my car for two problems. My car used to have this small speed sometimes I didn't know why. Hyundai motors sent me a email on October 26th to let me know about the recall; too late we already got crash. I want to say that my last inspection was at Hyundai but we didn't tell me about.

47 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2017

I was on a city street approaching a red light, as I was coming to a stop my car's engine shut off without warning. Oil light, check engine light, and battery light were illuminated. I put my hazards on, put the car in park and attempted to re-start the car with no luck. Car did not make any turning over sounds when trying to re-start. Dashboard lights, radio, powers windows still worked. I called roadside assistance and waited in my car blocking one lane of traffic. After about 10 minutes a passerby pushed my car to the side of the road, at this time I noticed it was very hard to steer and the brakes started to lock up. I put the car in park and waited for the tow truck. While waiting I made several attempts to re-start the car. After about 30 minutes the car restarted and I was able to drive the 3 blocks home. The following morning I had the car towed to the dealership. I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. They could not recreate the issue and no error codes showed up. There were also no error coeds in the log but if the engine shut down it seems like something should be in the log. I'm extremely nervous to drive thinking this can happen again in a more dire situation (like on the freeway). I see other complaints online with this same situation and am concerned for mine and my passengers' safety.

48 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. While making a left turn, the rpms would increase and then idle. When shifting into drive, the motor would jerk violently. Finally, when driving and depressing the brake pedal to come to a stop, the brake pedal seized. The contact had to apply excessive force to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the crain Hyundai dealer (located in north little rock, ar) where it was diagnosed that metal shavings were found in the motor and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v359000 (parking brake). 51 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2016

2015 Hyundai Sonata se - engine vibrations/rattles/droning when in overdrive at low rpm acceleration. At times the engine has been unresponsive. Was told by Hyundai it was normal, but did not start until the car had around 600 miles - now at 7400 miles, still doing it and sounds horrid. Also, popping sound from steering/brakes when backing up and turning/using brakes at only 1200 miles. That was fixed by dealer, said I had overheated the brakes, which wasn't true, only drove on freeway and wasn't using the brakes.

52 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2015

In the snow, my Hyundai Sonata will drive fine until turning. During turning, even with minimal snow, my brakes lock up and my car slides slowly but at that point I am unable to do anything, usually making me hit a curb. This has happened twice in the last two weeks costing me $2200. I have had two cars before my Hyundai Sonata and haven't had issues with such a problem. The mechanic scratches his head in confusion as to how almost the exact same thing happen in such a small time frame. It is a major safety issue, I believe something with traction control or braking is wrong. Had I been a worse driver the damages could be worse.

The panoramic sunroof is constantly creaking whenever driving on uneven pavement. The car has been in the shop for check engine issues since it was three months old all related to the intake manifold and vcm. And the vehicle stalls randomly and does not set off and check engine lights. Dealerships keep saying no issue found. Rotors have warped.

57 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2015

I purchased my Hyundai Sonata on 1/05/2015 with only 6 miles from sheehy Hyundai of waldor in maryland after 11 days of purchase on January 16 2015 at approximately 5:45 pm (rush hour in the DC metro area) my Sonata came to an abrupt stop without any warning signs on the highway in middle lane which is very dangerous and very scary and put me in a very vulnerable position. The engine shut off, I was unable to steer out the way of traffic and the brakes locked up and I was unable to do anything while in the middle of the rush hour traffic. I was a sitting duck waiting to get smashed by a pickup truck directly in the back of me. Thank my god nothing happened. I was unable to use the sos and bluelink emergency features that is equipped came with 3 months free activation in this vehicle. I had to personally call via my cell phone and await police assistance which was 10 minutes still in the middle of the highway and after the assistance of the police we were only then able to push the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. The bluelink customer service did very poorly in responding after all this emergency situation and to make it worse they did not provide a tow until 1. 45 minutes after, then commence to justify this long period by stating its "Friday and the normal time is 2 hours or more". Therefore, I am pleading to sheehy dealership and Hyundai corporation along with anyone else that can assist me to ensure that I have a new replacement vehicle. I am getting nowhere with sheehy dealership in reference to a new replacement vehicle. The vehicle is currently at sheehy service department and they are still not able to figure out the problem. Even though they might be able to fix the vehicle I will not feel safe driving the same vehicle after this very hazardous incident.
