general problems of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata - part 2

During the failure, the steering fault warning light was illuminated. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as intended. Every time it's bad weather I have this terrible shacking and don't know what it is.

While driving the car, the power steering locked while I was on 55m/h. The dashboard had the steering sign on. The car was eventually towed home because it was unsafe to drive. I tried the car the following day and the car was fine and no sign on the dashboard. I took the car on an errand and few mins later, the same incident occurred. The car was towed to an auto workshop who datamined it is a manufacture safety issue with sensor. As at this moment, the car is unsafe and very dangerous to drive. I am really concerned on why the public have not been notified.

Sudden loss of power steering while on the interstate. Nearly had several accidents trying to get home. I am a 100% disabled veteran suffering end stage kidney failure a% day/week dialysis. I can not safely drive this vehicle without the power steering and am alarmed at all the warning light on the dash that have illuminated. The dealership service mgr 1st told me there were no recalls on my vehicle. I reminded him of the panoramic roof recall they did. Now he says my car has no recalls for the power steering issue cause it was manufactured in July 0f 2014. I purchased it new in 2015 with only 13 miles on the odometer. Powering steering seems get harder when I stop at lights and when I turn then car back on from getting grocery.

While driving on a busy four lane I entered a turn lane to cross traffic. Immediately after I engaged the accelerator the vehicle lost all power and steering, with a alarm stating �hybrid system warning-do not drive�. One vehicle narrowly missed hitting my car, (as it completely lost all power and steering and left me stuck in the middle of on coming traffic). Researching today I see this is common between 2012-2016 especially. This is a very dangerous situation that was narrowly avoided.

My 2015 Hyundai Sonata has a problem of steering lock for 1 second while driving on road when turning left /right. On March 3rd I was driving on GA-317 s and want to take right turn on GA-120. As soon as I took the turn and was about to merge in the lane then suddenly my car's steering got locked for a while (around 1 second) and unlocked again automatically and my car's computer system also restartedbluetooth disconected and radio started loke when you start the car . Any further delay in unlocking the steering could cause serious acccident. Thanks to god for saving me . This problem is very dengerous for those driving the 2015 Hyundai Sonata because of steering locks while taking turn. Now I scare to drive,Hyundai company should take this issue very very seriously and should recall these vehicle. While contacting the one of the authorised dealer in gerogia ,they took charged to diaognised the issue because my car is not in warranty period. Steering lock problem while driving is the Hyundai car comuter system defect. It is the companies responsibilty to have their car on road to be very safefor driving. ,its not a driver's fault. They must diagnosis the isssue and repaired it without any cost to customer.

Electronic steering control completely failed while actively driving on state highway at 65 mph. . Warning light did come on but steering was very difficult as the steering wheel was very difficult to maneuver. Worse then having manual steering. Odometer reading at the time was 49504 miles.

Most of the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to Hyundai of grier (14435 e wade hampton blvd, greer, SC 29651, (864) 334-4347) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the cluster or power steering may need to be repaired. The failure mileage was 67,000.

I bought my car at a dealership, in west, TN called bolivar Ford. They sold me the car I got now and they didn't even show me the car until it came back from getting an �oil change�. Then I realized why they didn't show me the car until a few weeks later until I saw the paint chipping at the roof of my car where the windshield meets to the roof. Since last year, the paint has chipped probably 5 inches more wide, and about 11 inches higher. It keeps getting worse. Like, the Hyundai company should be recalling to get all Hyundai's new paint. I was driving on hwy 22 n, going towards lexington, TN, when I noticed my car was bouncing up and down a lot. I was going 59mph in a 55mph zone, I was going over a bridge and literally about had a concussion going ever a 20ft long bridge because the car was bouncing so bad. I am just now replacing the tires and brake pads/ rotors that the suspension damaged. I've nearly wrecked 2-3 different times. No only that I've had soreness in my back and neck from it. No wrecks or nothing and no medical attention on, several different occasions of me traveling for work, I would be on hwy 128 in nixon, TN heading to turn on hwy 57 in counce, TN and I noticed my steering wheel was real loose, to the point of where I could basically move the wheel with one finger. Not only that it will drag real bad. I can't even stay in a straight line and drive normal without going from the yellow line to white line and then from white line to the yellow line.

The contact called the local dealer (alan vines Hyundai at 731-664-8500 located on 1639 us-45 byp, jackson, tennessee, 38305) and was informed to schedule an appointment for diagnostic testing; however, the contact declined due to the diagnostic fee. The contact stated that she did not feel comfortable driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

I was on a city street approaching a red light, as I was coming to a stop my car's engine shut off without warning. Oil light, check engine light, and battery light were illuminated. I put my hazards on, put the car in park and attempted to re-start the car with no luck. Car did not make any turning over sounds when trying to re-start. Dashboard lights, radio, powers windows still worked. I called roadside assistance and waited in my car blocking one lane of traffic. After about 10 minutes a passerby pushed my car to the side of the road, at this time I noticed it was very hard to steer and the brakes started to lock up. I put the car in park and waited for the tow truck. While waiting I made several attempts to re-start the car. After about 30 minutes the car restarted and I was able to drive the 3 blocks home. The following morning I had the car towed to the dealership. I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. They could not recreate the issue and no error codes showed up. There were also no error coeds in the log but if the engine shut down it seems like something should be in the log. I'm extremely nervous to drive thinking this can happen again in a more dire situation (like on the freeway). I see other complaints online with this same situation and am concerned for mine and my passengers' safety.

Driving car wheel shoke violently, loud noise under car n car would race forward then back. Worse driving 45 miles or over. Dealer said steering shaft. Davis Hyundai in ewing said it was bad n safety issue n would not let me take n drive car home till part came in. Is this problem the dealer's responsibility.

I was backing out of the parking space and the car lost the ability to steer. I had to call a tow truck. I was able to pull forward into the parking space and wait for the tow truck. The car is new, I only have 1,032 miles on the vehicle. This was on a Saturday, and I have no explanation as of right now from the service department as to why this happened.

2015 Hyundai Sonata se - engine vibrations/rattles/droning when in overdrive at low rpm acceleration. At times the engine has been unresponsive. Was told by Hyundai it was normal, but did not start until the car had around 600 miles - now at 7400 miles, still doing it and sounds horrid. Also, popping sound from steering/brakes when backing up and turning/using brakes at only 1200 miles. That was fixed by dealer, said I had overheated the brakes, which wasn't true, only drove on freeway and wasn't using the brakes.

In the snow, my Hyundai Sonata will drive fine until turning. During turning, even with minimal snow, my brakes lock up and my car slides slowly but at that point I am unable to do anything, usually making me hit a curb. This has happened twice in the last two weeks costing me $2200. I have had two cars before my Hyundai Sonata and haven't had issues with such a problem. The mechanic scratches his head in confusion as to how almost the exact same thing happen in such a small time frame. It is a major safety issue, I believe something with traction control or braking is wrong. Had I been a worse driver the damages could be worse.

The steering wheel on this car will lock or get stuck as I am operating the vehicle. It has happened at slow speeds as well as highway speeds and even happened in reverse once. It is intermittent and random but the frequency is increasing. On my first dealer visit 12/10/15 there was a code for the electronic steering which the dealer cleared and returned the car to me without making any repairs. The problem continued so the car was taken to a 2nd dealer who found a code pertaining to ecm overheating. Hyundai advised the dealer to clear the code and return the car to me. I filed a complaint with Hyundai customer care on 12/16/15 and received an acknowledgment email that a representative would contact me in 3-5 days. On 12/21 I contacted Hyundai customer care, explained the car wasnt safe to drive so what should I do. I was told Hyundai would not offer a loaner car but I could ask my dealer if they would provide one at their cost. I asked about a representative contacting me and I was told it hasnt been 5 days yet so I needed to be patient. As of 12/30/15 I still have not received a response from Hyundai customer care.

This car has several re calls and I wasn't never informed and this doesn't make any sense.

I purchased my Hyundai Sonata on 1/05/2015 with only 6 miles from sheehy Hyundai of waldor in maryland after 11 days of purchase on January 16 2015 at approximately 5:45 pm (rush hour in the DC metro area) my Sonata came to an abrupt stop without any warning signs on the highway in middle lane which is very dangerous and very scary and put me in a very vulnerable position. The engine shut off, I was unable to steer out the way of traffic and the brakes locked up and I was unable to do anything while in the middle of the rush hour traffic. I was a sitting duck waiting to get smashed by a pickup truck directly in the back of me. Thank my god nothing happened. I was unable to use the sos and bluelink emergency features that is equipped came with 3 months free activation in this vehicle. I had to personally call via my cell phone and await police assistance which was 10 minutes still in the middle of the highway and after the assistance of the police we were only then able to push the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. The bluelink customer service did very poorly in responding after all this emergency situation and to make it worse they did not provide a tow until 1. 45 minutes after, then commence to justify this long period by stating its "Friday and the normal time is 2 hours or more". Therefore, I am pleading to sheehy dealership and Hyundai corporation along with anyone else that can assist me to ensure that I have a new replacement vehicle. I am getting nowhere with sheehy dealership in reference to a new replacement vehicle. The vehicle is currently at sheehy service department and they are still not able to figure out the problem. Even though they might be able to fix the vehicle I will not feel safe driving the same vehicle after this very hazardous incident.

There are many problems with this car, steering is #1 at low speed is makes a popping noise, at speed is has dead spots, entire steering assembly could be moved. The transmission is rough and feels like it is hunting and stumbling between 1/2,2/3 shifts, downshifts 1 or 2 ranges at the slightest hill. Back up camera comes on and then goes black in the middle of backing up. Brakes feel like they are slipping if you are braking at low speed on a hill, as in parking. I have taken it back to the dealer 3 or 4 times, they are unable to fix the problems, though they did manage to fix the moving steering assembly the 2nd visit wile denying they did any work. I have attempted to get Hyundai to buy this car back under the lemon law but they say nothing is wrong or it is not severe enough. . . I feel like I have to take a huge loss to trade it in on a dependable car or wait till something fails completely (hopefully not the steering) before they will listen to me.
