This complaint concerns a repeat failure of both front cv axles on my 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The cv axles and boots were replaced by gettel Hyundai of charlotte county using oem parts in November 2024. The same components failed again just 7,876 miles later in January 2026; requiring a second full replacement. A cv axle replaced with factory oem parts by a certified Hyundai tech should not fail within 7,876 miles under normal driving conditions. This pattern of repeat failure indicates either * a defect in the oem replacement parts supplied by Hyundai * an installation defect at the authorized dealership * an unresolved underlying mechanical condition that causes accelerated cv axle wear the rapid repeat failure represents a potential safety hazard. Cv axle failure can result in sudden loss of drive power, difficulty controlling the vehicle, and in severe cases, wheel separation --all of which create dangerous conditions for the driver and others on the road. Chronological timeline of events: Nov 5, 2024 55,579 miles; both front cv axles replaced by authorized Hyundai dealership using oem parts. Labor and parts performed per Hyundai standards. Jan 29, 2026 63,451 miles same cv axles failed again. Second replacement performed at same authorized Hyundai dealership. Total repair cost $3227. 16 paid out of pocket by me. Feb 16, 2026 Hyundai motor America denied goodwill reimbursement request (case #xxx), citing the malfunction being out of time in service of the vehicle. Reported to Hyundai motor, their response did not address the repeated nature of failure, the short mileage interval, or the possibility of a defective oem part or improper installation. I believe the NHTSA should be aware of this pattern and investigate other 2015 Hyundai Sonata owners have reported similar rapid repeat cv axle failures, which could indicate a systemic defect in either oem parts or dealership repair procedures. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle veered to the right. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the brake rotors were modified, and the failure was corrected. Additionally, while driving at speeds over 65 mph, the front driver’s side of the vehicle was shaking and vibrating abnormally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Our 2015 Hyundai Sonata has made a clunking sound when accelerating or slowing down. We took our car to brandon Hyundai and explained the problem. They had our car for 1 day and said a motor mount and a transmission mount were faulty. They said they did the repairs and that it was covered by warranty. Within a few days the car was making the same sound and we returned it to Hyundai. The next day the car repair was "completed". Again they said it was a motor mount and it was repaired at no expense since it was covered by warranty. The noise returned and we will schedule another appointment to hopefully fix the problem. Our Sonata has 97000 miles on it and we think brandon Hyundai may be stalling until the warranty runs out. Our family has bought 5 new Hyundai's in the last 10 years and have been very pleased with the cars. I don't blame the vehicle, just the dealer's service department. Rve.
2015 Hyundai Sonata 2. 4l hybrid with 35,333 miles has a broken front driver's side strut spring. Contacted Hyundai corporate and was told there is no recall on this year model. Dealer has been contacted regarding repair and they cannot inspect car till Dec. After research this looks the same as NHTSA campaign number: 15v629000 (suspension). There were no warning indicators and I had noticed a noise and the feeling of suspension issue coming from the front driver's side. Broken spring was found by jacking up the front driver's side wheel.
Vehicle started making a front end noise when turning or hitting a bump.
Left front cv axel/shift assembly needed to be replaced with 61,000 miles.
Shortly after buying this car car at 32. 000, I began having problems with the steering. The steering has dead spots and feels extremely loose, it is very stressful keeping the car strait on the highway as it is all over the road. The steering light comes on but the dealers always tell me "we can't find any codes". There was a loud what he thought was an "electrical" sound in the front end while steering as service manager at tameron Hyundai put, with the steering light coming on one would think to check that but they put new struts on it, which has made the problem 1000x worse now the alignment is off which with the steering make it nearly impossible to drive. I put new tires on it less than a year ago that have less than 10,000 miles on them and have rotated them twice at 5,000 miles the alignment is so bad that one tire is now bald! every time I go to a dealer they refuse to help. I'm putting this here in case I die in this car! also the engine hesitates and shakes violently when starting. The shaking is when it ideals, but on the interstate when you press the gas it "pulses" and hesitate while accelerating (I hardly get a chance to test to see how bad the hesitation is because the steering is so lose) I am now finding out the 2015 Sonata engine is effected by the massive defect they have had in 2011- 2014 models but are not making it publicly known. One would think with all the steering and engine problems Hyundai has had in the past Sonata's they would take this serious. All they do is blame customers, if you call their customer support line they will tell you they closed your case in less than a day without looking at the car. I hope the government gets this company under control for consumers sake and safety sake.
I bought my car at a dealership, in west, TN called bolivar Ford. They sold me the car I got now and they didn't even show me the car until it came back from getting an oil change. Then I realized why they didn't show me the car until a few weeks later until I saw the paint chipping at the roof of my car where the windshield meets to the roof. Since last year, the paint has chipped probably 5 inches more wide, and about 11 inches higher. It keeps getting worse. Like, the Hyundai company should be recalling to get all Hyundai's new paint. I was driving on hwy 22 n, going towards lexington, TN, when I noticed my car was bouncing up and down a lot. I was going 59mph in a 55mph zone, I was going over a bridge and literally about had a concussion going ever a 20ft long bridge because the car was bouncing so bad. I am just now replacing the tires and brake pads/ rotors that the suspension damaged. I've nearly wrecked 2-3 different times. No only that I've had soreness in my back and neck from it. No wrecks or nothing and no medical attention on, several different occasions of me traveling for work, I would be on hwy 128 in nixon, TN heading to turn on hwy 57 in counce, TN and I noticed my steering wheel was real loose, to the point of where I could basically move the wheel with one finger. Not only that it will drag real bad. I can't even stay in a straight line and drive normal without going from the yellow line to white line and then from white line to the yellow line.
My vehicle makes a clunking noise when I make a turn and accelerate simultaneously, napelton Hyundai told me it was my axel and my front brakes grind when my car settles after I brake or when I ease off the brake.
I bought the car in 2015, currently the car has less than 14,000 miles. Within this 3 year and low mileage I had experience several problems 1. - tires breaks easily 2. - electrical wires insulator has been applied with vegetables solution, making fatal attraction to rodents 3. - battery doesn't last over 12,000 miles 4. - seat belts are defectives, and still is 5. - between the transmission and the transfer case the is a dragging noise 6. - technology package? expensive and malfunction making this safety issue dangerous. 7. - radio. . . . . . Part of the technology package stop working if you stop Hyundai so called blue link service 8. - screen at my dashboard went blank 3 times at 3,000. 7,000 and 11,000 miles 9. - while driving my vehicle engine shut off at stop light (thanks god it happens when I was driving locally) all this happens within this 3 years that I own the car.
1. Wipers don't stop moving even if switched off and even if engine is turned off. 2. Passenger seat belt doesn't latch 3. Cracking noise when making turns.
2 weeks ago, I found in my front passenger side tire a bauble and I took the tire to the discount tire to be checked. The tire specialist discovered other problems on both front tires. The tires are severely cupped the inside edge. He recommends me to check with the service dealership as soon as possible, he never ever experienced that type of problem in the past. Dealership service world car Hyundai took the car for entire day and told me that they might think it needs to be done the alignment. I totally refused to do it because the alignment is perfectly fine, my steering wheel not turning in any direction and is not shaking while I am driving. . Read more...
In the snow, my Hyundai Sonata will drive fine until turning. During turning, even with minimal snow, my brakes lock up and my car slides slowly but at that point I am unable to do anything, usually making me hit a curb. This has happened twice in the last two weeks costing me $2200. I have had two cars before my Hyundai Sonata and haven't had issues with such a problem. The mechanic scratches his head in confusion as to how almost the exact same thing happen in such a small time frame. It is a major safety issue, I believe something with traction control or braking is wrong. Had I been a worse driver the damages could be worse.
