Tl the contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. While driving various speeds, the transmission clutch slipped on several occasions. Mcgrath city Hyundai (6720 west grand avenue, chicago, illinois 60707, (773) 889-3030) was made aware of the transmission failures and performed a digital line transmission assessment of the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided the contact with case number: 11611171. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
I purchased my 2015 Sonata 12/04/2017. Almost immediately, my gear started to slip. At first had issues breaking, it seemed a bit delayed. I was advised by some family members that maybe the engine simply needed to be flushed. (early January) about 2 weeks later going up and down hills started becoming an issue. Due to my busy work schedule, I had to put off going to the shop. My car is necessary for my employment. The week before I was due to service (early February) my car stopped moving forward or backward after stopping at a local stop sign, I towed the car into the dealership and they have decided that the cause of these issues is a crack in my transmission. They have decided not to use my warranty to cover the damages because they believe that it was caused by a driver. They explained that the part that seems to be affected, is the only part of the undercarriage that isn't protected by the plastic cover piece. They said this damage could have happened unknowingly and easily. This has made my car extremely vulnerable to outside damage and has also brought the value of the car down extremely.
I went to accelerate, by depressing the accelerator, and the engine revved high, but, the car did not accelerate and there didn't appear to be power at the wheels. It acted as if the transmission was slipping. I let off of the pedal and it downshifted and power to the wheels was restored. I repeated this process 3 times after and I could replicate it every time. Drove to the dealership and left it for service. They drove it the next day and couldn't replicate the issue. I have not been able to replicate the issue since that day either.
