So I was driving down the highway and I went to pass a car, (I never get close when passing) I was probably at least a quarter mile away from the car I was passing. I have every safety feature turned off, as I have, since buying the car almost 2 years ago. All of a sudden, I’m not sure if my sensor was off or what, but I’m assuming it thought I was too close to that car and it just started swerving all over the highway. I went left/right 4 times before I was finally able to regain control, I couldn’t couter-act the swerves, nor could I hold my steering wheel straight to stop them. Luckily there were very few people on the highway as it was early in the morning. Had the time of day been different, I probably wouldn’t be here today, and some others probably wouldn’t be either, at least lots of injuries I’m sure. It hasn’t been confirmed, I don’t even know how to do that honestly, I was the only one in the car. I didn’t call anyone/say anything until right now because I was already running late for work, I was shaken up but I just called my parents and they said to look up recalls/file a report, which it seems like this is how I do it? there were no warning signs, nothing, I was driving for already about 30 minutes and everything was fine, never had any issue like this ever before. Like I said I’ve had this car for almost 2 years and she has been an absolute dream, aside from this mishap. But now I am very terrified to drive it, I don’t know what happened honestly, I don’t know what could have caused it, but this is why I hate Smart cars. My safety was put at risk by what I assume was a safety feature malfunction of some kind.
2020 Sonata. . . . . . Steering wheel has started to make a raspy, rubbing noise when turned. When researching this problem on u tube, it is apparently a fairly common problem with Hyundai vehicles. The fix requires that a bearing in the steering be replaced. If not replaced I would imagine that the bearing would eventually seize up and the car could not be steered. I checked with local dealership and they were not aware of the problem and couldn't tell me if it would be covered by my warranty. I only have 9500 miles on the vehicle.
Steering parts being replaced many times, and the engine oil is low after I just got an oil change a week ago. Excessive engine oil usage with no idea where it is going.
Steering wheel makes whining/scrubbing noise when turning. Steering a vehicle is a critical component of safety and being able to avoid dangerous situations. The problem has been reported, inspected, and confirmed by a dealer. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or independent service center. There were no warning messages, lamps, or other symptoms of the problem prior to failure. The problem first appeared when the vehicle was under 15,000 miles. The dealership advised that the worm shaft assembly needs to be replaced.
Driving on dry road, in middle lane of three lanes going 65 mph. Suddenly, right rear tire "poofed" but I kept control, started to look right to get off road. Took foot off gas, did not put on brake. Suddenly, left rear "poofed" and then an extremely loud-metal on metal- sound occurred back left and my car jack knifed into the passing , fast lane. A dump truck traveling in that lane struck me, front end and my door. The truck hit me and I rolled into the grassy medium, rolling over several times. The safety devices worked fabulously and my only injuries were from the seat belts which saved my life. I am lucky to be alive and I hope this doesn't happen to someone else. I was in icu for 5 days and hospital for a total of 9 days, I am will be recovering at home for months. I would like it investigated that either a mechanical issue or tire issue caused the accident. I only had 2300 miles on the car.
Message on instrument panel statedcollision avoidance system was disabled and radar was blocked. The electric power steering also began to function erratically and a steering wheel symbol appeared and kept changing color from green to white. This happened after driving approximately 400 miles from the dealer in NJ to charlotte nc. Mileage is 975.
When making turns there is a very noticeable sound when turning both left and right, with for to much play in the steering while to the point that it all most goes completely around. . . While in normal drive mode it sounds sounds somewhat like a wash cycle/.
