The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with the hybrid system message displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no error codes were retrieved and the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The consumer noticed, when the vehicle was cold, it seemed as though the vehicle could not decided if it wanted to be in electric or gas mode, as it was chugging as the consumer was trying to drive up the hill. The dealer informed the consumer, that a computer upgrade needed to be performed on the vehicle. After the computer was upgraded, the consumer experienced another failure. In October 2015, the vehicle once again stopped without any warning. The lights flashed on the dash, with a message to stop safely and check the hybrid drive.
