Vehicle experiences intermittent dtc c222908 (integrated brake actuator internal circuit malfunction). Warning lights (brake, abs, esc, hybrid system) illuminate intermittently, brake pedal feel changes, and regenerative braking fails. Dealer confirmed stored code but refused repair stating "no current issue". This is a known failure in 2015-2019 Hyundai hybrids that can lead to sudden loss of hydraulic brake assist and increased stopping distance. Safety critical defect.

Intermittent loss of power "sputter" at any speed with solid mil. Releasing the throttle clears the condition and the mil goes out. Vehicle drives normally with no warning indicators until next occurrence. Cause unknown at this time, began happening a few weeks after engine long block replacement under warranty campaign.

Check brake warning display 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. When driving the check brake signal comes on and shuts down the car and render it driveless until I shut off the engine and restart it . We chang new own 12 v battery oem parts . Still have the problem check brake signal come on .

Vehicle being driven down highway and caught fire.

Sun roof exploded while driving on the freeway. There was no known road hazard that would have caused this.

Shattered sunroof. Driving down highway, sunroof spontaneously shattered. The outside temp was approximately 55-60 degrees f.

After being jumped once and running properly the car no longer has any kind of power. The rear battery is working fine. My mechanic had also told me that the wheels had a certain type of spring like mechanism that was ready to shoot off the car and that the car needs a very expensive large piece of plastic to regulate airflow if it is going to pass inspection. The vehicle has not been in accidents and nothing out of the ordinary has happened to it to cause these things.

I was driving in the rain on 1/16/19 with my son, all of a sudden my car starts beeping and my dash board says stop driving now and check your charger system and after one hour it completely died, had to get towed home, now the dealer says the problem was the high voltage relay and connector that goes to the high voltage battery on the car that caused the battery to fail and charger system. Now I'm told I need to buy a new battery and I feel this should be covered b the warranty since this issued caused my battery to drain.

While driving car system warning came on to" safely stop and do not drive". Was able to pull over and stop car. Could not restart it. Had it towed then changed battery which was low. Tried to restart and did not turn on until 3rd time starting. Let engine run for about 10 min and warning came back on.

Major failure occurred. I was driving my car when I heard sharp bells ringing from the car dash. Check hybrid systems lights illuminated on dash. The car was in motion when it just stopped. I had no time to pull to the side of the road. I turned it off and on again. I was in the center of the road and it would not move. Good samaritan pushed my car to side of the road. The check brakes light came on. Then the car would not turn on at all. The car would not recognize the key pad light came on. Locks would not operate. The window was stuck in the open position. The internal car lights were on and would not go off. The key pad could not lock/unlock the car. Luckily this happened on a side road. 1 mile earlier I was on a freeway that had no shoulder. If it had happened there, it could have been catastrophic. Numerous systems failed. I took it to they dealer. They had to wait for the hybrid specialist. He said the transmission fluid was very dirty and ordered a new transmission. My question, why would check hybrid systems come on and so much electrical failure if it was the transmission. I have read in forums that this has happened to several other hybrid sonata owners. Even after the transmission repaired, I still feel very unsafe in the car now. If it had happened just 1 mile earlier, my car stopping immediately on the freeway with no shoulder could have caused a major accident and been life-threatening.

Driving on hwy 45, houston, TX; heard noises; pulled off hwy; car caught fire.

My 2011 Sonata Hybrid has smoke coming out of the dash and from under the dash and you can smell wires burning. It's all factory nothing has been done to it. It does it when you start it up and it does it off and on while driving.

After I exited the freeway while traveling to my mothers on thanksgiving day I was stopped at a light to turn left onto a street and when I tried to go the car would not move I had to push the gas peddle all the way down and when it finally went it jumped/jerked really bad which almost caused me to hit the car in front of me and after that it was going really slow. 2 days prior the car was lagging while slowing down to break seemed like the system wasn't reading that I want to slow down and stop which again almost caused me to have an accident. This car is a safety hazard and I only have 61,000 miles and I only had the car for 9 months. I was told it was the transmission and the car is still in the shop trying to figure out what is wrong.

My car looses acceleration in the middle of the way especially on highway. It happens fir multiple times.

I was driving the car and all of a sudden is just died. Not sure what problem was. Can't be a battery problem cause the car was running. Roadside assistance tried to start the battery but that is not the problem. I have read all over the internet with complaints of this hybrid car just shutting down while driving. This is a serious safety risk and a ongoing problem. The car is a death trap and I refuse to drive it anymore. The car acceleration is met with a pause when taking off as well. I was explained its when the car switches from battery to engine for power. It's a safety issue as well given you could put yourself out into a intersection and not have enough power or the hesitation can prevent you from going. The car is the worst made car I have ever owned. I refuse to drive this car with me or my daughters life in jeopardy due to the problems with the vehicle. Vehicle had just turned off highway onto a main road and there was a sound like a tire going out. We pulled over and exited vehicle and the tire was slanted on a diagonal. There happened to be a mechanic right there so he walked over and looked at it and determined it was the subframe. Car completely un-drivable. We were towed and had the subframe replaced.

I was informed by an auto mechanic that hybrid vehicles involved in a collision could explode when the car door is opened. Have you heard anything about this? could it be true? barry levine bjaylevine@msn. Com.

Experienced a completely unexpected (and potentially dangerous) stalling while driving (I. E. , not while stopped). This sudden stall was displayed to the sonata's driver panel as hybrid system failure, and the alarm was triggered to beep continuously. This may be related to the 12v lead-acid deteriorating, with capacity degraded to 110cca from specified 600cca. Even though the battery was degrading, the car should not stall just because the battery capacity is low.

February 2017 at around 85,000 miles while driving the car on a residential street approaching a red light stopped moving. The oil, battery and engine lights went on, I turned car off and turned back on and it moved I drove right to the dealership. After testing they could find nothing wrong. The same thing happened again September 28 as I approcahed a traffic light and had my foot on the break, the light changed and I put my foot on the gas and the car wouldn't move. This time the car (100,500 miles ) it finally would sputter forward enough to be pushed to the side of the road. . And the engine light stayed on. The car even in park was jerking back and forth. This is in addition to the last few weeks the car had morning hesitation after sitting overnight but then was fine. The car was in for service about 3000 miles ago. This is a safety hazard . Anyone driving.

Car has 65k miles. Warning "chime" came on, total loss of power, pulled of road safely. Warning light on dash came on . . . Hybrid system warning. . . Safely stop. . . Do not drive. . . Then. . . . Check brake. . . . Then back to hybrid system warning. . . Do not drive. . . . Then back to check brake. And on and on. I shut off the car after a minute and restarted car drove another several miles and then same situation. I have seen a video post on youtube and have seen other posts as well and one with a vehicle having only 3500 miles. I'm trying to see that this should be a major safety concern as shutting down completely is not acceptable and totally unsafe.

I was driving on the freeway when my car started driving rough. It made some loud clicking sounds and started to misfire and stutter. The next day I took it to the mechanic and he said the oil was empty, but I had just had the car in for service a few months earlier and there was no problem. The check engine and oil lights didn't illuminate. He did an oil change and tune up. The car continued to ride rough. I took it back to the mechanic a few days later and the oil was low again. There was no oil leak. He checked everything again and said it appeared the spark plugs were failing. Two weeks later I had the same problem again. I added oil. I took it to another mechanic (I was out of town). He cleaned the spark plugs. Four days later the car started acting really horrible, making loud clanking noise and stuttering. I added oil again and took it back to my original mechanic. He treated the oil and asked me to come back in a week so he could monitor the problem. The car drove smooth and without any problem then one week later, while driving to the mechanic the car made loud clanking noise and a cloud of white smoke came from the car. I had it towed to the mechanic. He is looking to replace my engine. In all this the indicator lights never came on (oil or check engine).

While driving on a busy road at 40mph my car suddenly downshifted and would not move. As I tried pressing on gas to accelerate the car slowly went up to 5 on the speedometer and stopped moving again. I luckily did not get hit from behind or cross main road to get into a side street for me to safely get out of vehicle and call for a tow. Since purchasing this car used 3 months ago this hybrid would always jerk when driving as if it is slipping gears, but had realized it is the blue drive mode kicking in when driving. The repair shop states there is a defect in the transmission, unfortunatlely I am not the original owner which would be covered under 100,000. My car has 95,000 but I am second owner which Hyundai states it only covers up to 60,000. Please investigate this safety issue and demand a recall. I unfortunatley have to get the car fixed since I am making payments on the loan but am going to frightened on driving this car in anticipation of this happening again. I called your hotline and there have been other cases like this as well as people reporting this online. I am documenting everything if I need to claim a lemon and would like your help and response to what and why Hyundai is not recalling this car.

I am not sure what exactly but I will try my best to type it accurately. When you are driving and u come to a red light or a stop sign or even jus braking do to traffic the engine stall and does not accelerate . I almost died 3 times in this car because of this issue . I was at a stop sign and a truck was down the street to my left there was no in coming traffic to my right I proceeded to hit the gas but the vehicle rolled slowly and I still had my foot flat on the pedal , it took almost 17 seconds for my engine to actually move my car which was almost flipped by the incoming truck driver who thought I was going to turn and keep going left in the opposite lane so he didn't hit brakes from early and my engine kicked in and acted like I was doing a burn out meaning for example at a dead stop and I floor the pedal causin the car to take off faster than normal safe operator practices . But I almost died today and the check light comes on and off I have a bunch of videos of this problem . Please help.

While driving my car started alarming saying check charging system. . . It immediately went to 15 miles and hour while I was on i95 where speed limit is 65 mph. By the time I got home and turned the car off it would not turn back on. Ive had this car for a year and a half. I bought it new.

As I was driving home from work at aprox 9pm my car started to make this loud abnoxious sound that states for me to slowly stop and do not drive. As I was attempting to maneuver from the fast lane to the side, my car completely shut off. I was so afraid because there were other cars and trucks right behind me and I feared for my life. I am told that this issue is not under warranty but it has been reported by man. I just purchased the car a year ago and should not be having these issues. This is unsafe me life threatening and needs to be resolved ASAP. I have also read reviews online and have discovered that there are many others in my same situation and that they too have been in la life threatening scenario in regards to this defect with the same exact car.

A few months ago the vehicle stalled at a red light. I found complaints of the same make, year and model stalling on other owners on the internet. Went to dealer and after numerous hours in the shop they could not find the problem. Today my 19 year old daughter was on a four lane highway with no pull off lanes, only cement barriers. The vehicle stalled at 60 mph. She almost died from being hit by a tractor trailer. She was missed by only a few inches. The vehicle did start again and she got off the highway. Made complaint with Hyundai consumer affairs.

Spontaneous explosion of panoramic sunroof as I was travelling down the highway at about 60 mph. No foreign object involved. Sounded like a bomb went off above my head. Thank goodness, the inner liner was closed.

While I was driving on interstate , moonroof/sunroof start making awkward noise. I noted the moonroof had came out of it's position. I held with one hand and drive so that other vechiles approaching will be safe. Unfortunately I could not hold longer due to the wind power and it flew back and shattered the entire moonroof. I just want the NHTSA to be aware of this incident.

Check charging system light comes up, some times cant change from drive to reverse, other times change park to any other gear, have to turn the car off and on again . The car jumps when getting out of ev mode, hesitates when going out of ev mode, making it very dangerous at a intersection and u turns. I found so many complains about the Hyundai hybrid 2012 , . . . . . Same problems, how come nobody does anything ???.
