Electronic Stability Control problem #1

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle shifted into limp mode with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and several dtc codes were cleared and the accelerator pedal assembly was replaced. Shortly after receiving the repair the failure reoccurred and the vehicle was towed to the dealer another time. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that max cylinder #7 had failed causing a knocking in the engine. The vehicle had not been repaired. The dealer attempted to repair the vehicle under NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, exterior lighting, vehicle speed control, electronic stability control) however, the VIN was not included and the repair was denied. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 91,679.

Electronic Stability Control problem #2

While driving the car on the freeway, it will jerk forward and then shortly after lose power. The car shows the battery as being barely charged. I pull over (luckily haven't been killed yet) on the side of the freeway. Let the car sit for a few minutes, restart it and the battery is half full and the car is driveable. I've read online that this is a common issue with 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrids. I've taken my car to a Hyundai dealership twice, and they can't find anything wrong, diagnostics show its fine. The second time I took it in they replaced the battery located in my trunk for $485. That did nothing, as the car is still randomly shutting off, and most times in the most dangerous areas of the road. I don't think Hyundai will do anything about this until numerous people are killed. Forgot to mention that sometimes when it shuts down the check oil light comes on. I've had the oil replaced and the oil sensor, so thats not the issue.

Electronic Stability Control problem #3

Check brake warning display 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. When driving the check brake signal comes on and shuts down the car and render it driveless until I shut off the engine and restart it . We chang new own 12 v battery oem parts . Still have the problem check brake signal come on .

Electronic Stability Control problem #4

Around a year ago (Feb 14, 2018), I received a message "hybrid system warning, please stop now". My car shut down and thank god, I was pulling into my apartment complex. My car was inspected and was told it was the tps system. That was replaced and I was on my way. Over 7 months ago (July 2018), I received the same message; "hybrid system warning, please stop vehicle now". After the warning, my car stopped immediately and this time the road was clear and I was able to coast to the side of the road. After thornton road Hyundai inspected my care again, this time they stated it was the motor. After over $5000 worth of work here it is April 2019 and the same warning. This time I was stranded on a busy highway. Once the tow truck guy got there, he escorted me to his truck to be safe. I have looked into this warning over a year and no one seems to know the problem. This should be a recall and all Hyundai dealers should be made aware of what this warning is. We as Hyundai owners need answers and help. I cannot afford to put money into a car when the problem is only being patched up.

Electronic Stability Control problem #5

My vehicle "check charging system" warning came upon the start up of the hybrid in the morning 12/31/2018, going to work. This was an issue on a heavy precipitous day in past. However there was not heavy rain, I turned the vehicle back off. It turned on without the warning which 1st appeared in front area and is audible. It started as I approached a stop sign. I live about 6 minutes away from work. The battery life is visible and it was not changed from mid point which has always been same. The tank had gas, no issue, and I drove it to work. I assumed with the car turned off for the 6hour shift I had, that it would possibly be relieved. I started the car to now drive to the store for quick grocery essentials. Within a 15 min time frame from work, store quick shopping there, and home again. The warning came back on. As I braked, or came to a stop for lights the warning would stop. As I pushed on gas pedal it would start. As I was approaching an intersection with traffic lights, I prepared to stop but as I got closer the car would not stop anymore than it had (which was significant) but not stopping, as I noticed the distance, my foot on the brake all the way I heard the vehicle (closing song) which is supposed to be heard when you turn the vehicle off. I looked at the dash in front of me which went blank all across the board and I braced for impact. My vehicle came to a stop because the collision occurred with this malfunction and my car hit the car in front of me. Physically we are ok. I am still paying for this vehicle and it is powerless by the curb at my residence until I can afford to have a tow truck pick it up. The dealership said no warranty, no assistance by them. I have a claim with Hyundai which is slow. You tube has so many vehicles from 2011 and recent models that are reporting same warning issues. I have a recording of it from that day.

Electronic Stability Control problem #6

Was driving about 25 mph and it sent warning lights and stuttered and died in front of railroad tracks. Very lucky it didn't die on the tracks.

Electronic Stability Control problem #7

Failure to perform warranty repair. Vehicle still under warranty. No help. Please advice. Matthew highway stalling and dash board lights, lithium battery replaced. Car towed more than twice to dealership and costs for towing. Thanks.

Electronic Stability Control problem #8

Charging system malfunctioned, sensors melted in valve trane, radiator elbow and fill neck blew off, complete engine failure and battery failure. I have had a problem with the "check brake" light and an alarm going off. However, when I stopped driving and had it towed to the dealership they could find nothing. Prior to this incident, I took a photo of my dash, I had 76,499 miles and the coolant meter did not read hot. I had had the coolant system flushed at 65,000 miles, and I had all oil and fluids checked again after this incident. The breakdown: three hours into a roadtrip, the a/c began blowing warm, simultaneously - the "the check brake" light and alarm came on, and the "check charging system" light came on. I lost power to accelerate (or brake well) and immediately pulled over and took a photo of my dash warnings (76919 miles). The heat sensor was in the "cool" half, the battery gage showed no power. Battery so low key would not start car. I had the car towed. "tech found that elbow and radiator have holes in them vehicle overheated causing engine to blow. " tiffany richardson said "tech believe vehicle was driven with low coolant level causing vehicle to run hot melting sensors in the valve train and the pipes to fail. " the tech is wrong, the coolant system was inspected and flushed at 65,000 miles, and was not due for another inspection. I had had coolant levels checked less than 1000 miles ago, and the heating sensor on dash did not read hot, at the point of breakdown or after a road trip 500 miles ago. Others had the problem at 3000 miles! it's the hpcu. The power for both electric motors is routed through hpcu. The inverters allow the a/c motors to be driven by d/c batteries. This caused the "check charging system" error. $15,000. 00 fix. I owe $4000. 100,000 warranty has denied it & I am original owner. Hpcu recalled b4? .

Electronic Stability Control problem #10

Check charging system and check brake light came on at 76000 miles driveing 65 mph in the highway after 3 hours. Collant did not read hot, battery read dead. Vehichle quickly decellerated and I pulled over. Radiator blew neck off and several components of the cooloing system and hoses were melted there is a strong smell of fludge/fule based residue/combustion in cooling system that blew off neck. Battery so week I could not use the key to open a door or the trunk, or move seats. Coolant had just been topped of and system was flushed within 10,000 miles. Mechanic at kia dealership diagnosed tgat tge gead gasket/cylinder head leaded into the cooling system causing the neck to blow off the radiator and melting several sensors and components of the cooling system that would not have melted or blown from fumes of low coolant alone. Oil levels and quality was good. I photographed the dash lights at breakdown and the coolant levels did not read hot. Check charging system and check brake lights came on. Check brake lights check engine lights had been a problem before. Dealership for Hyundai (coggins Hyundai in deland) says they think a lack of coolant caused issue, but I know I had coolant in the car - they just want to not be responsible for warranty repair,as I am the first owner and have done proper maintainance. I have seen many other people complain of similar issues from when the car is new (check chargins system less than 3000 miles) and the car blowing up/catching fire, etc. Perhaps the reason mine did not catch fire was all the coolant that was released. One car owner insists that all Hyundais will do this between 70,000 and 100,000 miles. Something big is going on with these cars - mine has had continual problems and it should be replaced at huyndai's cost. This should be studied further! safty hazard! read Hyundai forum and the other complaints!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #11

Car was purchased on 9/10/2016 used. It was driven for three days. When putting the car in park this warning msg came up "hybrid system warning safely stop and do not drive!". This happened a few times the car was taken to dealership on 9/19. They could not duplicate so it was returned. I was informed if it happened again to bring it in. The warning came on again so it was taken to dealership on 10/09. They could not duplicate it again so they had it for a week tested it every way possible including driving it for a week. They called a Hyundai representative and they informed them of what to watch and or look for and to no avail nothing. It was given back to me a week later and I was informed if it happens again do not turn it off bring it straight there to obtain a code. This only happens when putting it into park, and a couple of times it would not let me start the car I had to wait five min or so, push the lock/unlock on the fob, another time that did not work I had to get out of car lock it get in car lock it and then lock/unlock it from with in and it started. Not sure if all that correlated with it but it worked.

Electronic Stability Control problem #12

Brakes and emergency brake failed. Warning lights came on slowed down pulled off road after short time lights went off. Then back on again and again no brakes we were in transit cross country. Traveling 75 mph, the speed limit,.

Electronic Stability Control problem #13

Hybrid system warning has come on four times, car shuts off instantly, then the engine light comes on. The first time was on a city street, the second time was a the dealership when picking up the car after repair, the three time was in a parking lot, and the fourth time was on the interstate in heavy traffic. Car is not safe. Asked for a replacement with no resolution.

Electronic Stability Control problem #14

The back light not working normal front night light not working.

Electronic Stability Control problem #15

As I started to slow down from 75mph the car started to beep and the ready light was flashing. Many indicator lights came on to include the battery indicator light, and the amber box with a wrench in it. It said "check hybrid charging system" and "safely pull over" as the car slowed down the car would no longer go forward, the lights dimmed and would no longer accelerate.
