After being jumped once and running properly the car no longer has any kind of power. The rear battery is working fine. My mechanic had also told me that the wheels had a certain type of spring like mechanism that was ready to shoot off the car and that the car needs a very expensive large piece of plastic to regulate airflow if it is going to pass inspection. The vehicle has not been in accidents and nothing out of the ordinary has happened to it to cause these things.
While car is in motion, on highway or anywhere at anytime, the check brake warning light comes on display screen, with an beeping alarm, then the brakes drop to floor barely stopping the vehicle with a grudging noise. I went to the dealer, they gave me the option to replace the abs system but was not sure of the exact problem and tried to sell me a newer car. This company already has lots of recalls and has put many people's lives in danger. This issue is happening to many other vehicles the same as mine and they are not safe for anyone.
Upon obtaining my state inspection a couple weeks ago around 60k miles, my mechanic pointed out a slight "thunk" when turning the steering wheel and said to check for recalls. Since then it has become increasingly more noticeable. It "thunks" or clicks just to the right or left of center. First I only noticed it when parked, now I notice it when driving and the steering column rattles very loud when I go over even a small bump in the road. I am concerned that it is getting worse and trying to get an appointment to have it looked at. I see where this was a big problem with the 2011 model and now is starting with the 2012 around similar mileage. Clicking and rattling noise in steering column, not only while turning, but small bumps will make it rattle. Hope Hyundai issues a recall soon!!!.
My tire light keeps going on when I have the right amount of air in it. I got the sensors checked which the repair man said they where fine and he reset the system twice. The tire warning light went on twice when I was driving it I don't feel safe in this car at all.
While driving on a clear smooth road I heard a noise that sounded like I had run over a metal type object. I did not see any debris in the road as I approached the area nor as I proceeded away from it. Approx 3/4 to 1 mile further down the road I smelt smoke and saw smoke coming from the driver wheel well area. I pulled over stopped the vehicle and shortly thereafter the tire exploded. The car was towed to the local dealership and it was diagnosed that the front spring had broken causing the damage. The car is casually driven and currently has just over 25,000 miles on it. I am definitely concerned this is a defect!.
Tires wear out prematurely. Original front tires wore badly on the outside and required replacement at 41k miles. Replacement tires had a 60,000 mile warranty but required replacement at 42k miles for the same reason. Had many alignments, and tire rotations. Store manager alway stated that the car was aligned to manufacturer specifications and that this type of wear requiring replacement at approx 40k miles, was typical of all sonatas.
Two and a half years ago I leased a Sonata Hybrid from broadway automotive in green bay, wisconsin. I leased the car to include 18,000 miles per year for a total of 3 years, I. E. 54,000 total miles. I was never told by the sales person or the sales manager that the tires on the car were not meant for wisconsin winters or that they only had a 30,000 mile life or that they were meant for the California climate. This car handles terribly in the winter months, slipping with little traction whenever there is snow on the roads. I was recently told I have to replace the tires before the end of my lease. Being leased a vehicle by a dealership that knew that the tires on it were inferior for the amount of miles I was going to be putting on the vehicle is just plain dishonest and in this case dangerous. The tires put on a vehicle should match the climate the car is sold in. In addition, the tires of a leased vehicle should equal or exceed the lease mileage.
