My son was driving my 2007 hyundia Tiburon, on the highway, when all of a sudden the car lost all it's stearing capability, he hit a speed limit sign vered off the road and went about 50 feet into the woods, the airbags never deployed. Luckly my son is ok, the car is a total loss. Why would the airbags not deploy with the front end is destroyed and the frame is bent.

The contact owned a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. While driving approximately 60 mph, the contact swerved into another lane to avoid a crash but was unable to gain control of the steering wheel. As a result, the contact crashed into an embankment and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained chest injuries, a fractured nose, a fractured right foot, a torn ligament in the right foot, and bruises that required medical attention. The passenger sustained a cut on the lip that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The VIN was unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The lower control arm rusted and broke allowing the wheel to break lose and tilt in at the bottom. Had this happened at highway speeds the results likely would have been loss of control and crash. It's a defect Hyundai is aware of but failed to notify all owners. And Hyundai is shorting the recall to certain states blaming the issue on road salt corrosion. While in fact it is a huge problem that Hyundai is ignoring and leaving their consumers in harms way. There has to be many Hyundai vehicle owners driving today in cars that are ticking time bombs. People will be hurt or killed if action is not taken very soon. All vehicles effected by this same manufacturing flaw are very dangerous to operate.
2005 Hyundai tiberon. Per discussion with the investigating officer, the driver was going around a sharp corner too fast. Lost control of the vehicle (possibly because the esc unit inputs or steering box malfunction) and started fishtailing. Vehicle then slid sideways into another vehicle (side impact). None of the 4 airbags deployed, killing the driver instantly. Accident is still being investigated.

Almost right after purchasing the vehicle, I started experiencing electrical problems. The alarm system would randomly go off and sometimes even lock the doors of the car on it's own. Whether the car was running or not, windows open or shut, did not matter. Later the windshield wiper motor burned out so only the fastest setting works and only when I hold the knob up for the one time wipe. The window motor went out on the passenger side as well. If you were to slam or hit the door, the window will roll down, but not back up unless you pull very hard on it to get it going. The power steering has also began to go out. There are times when it will not stop squealing while I turn the wheel and it is almost pulsing so I can only turn the wheel in tiny increments at a time. The steering squeaks the most when the wheel is turned all the way.
The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon. The contact stated the tires would have to be replaced every 15,000 miles or the vehicle would not be able to have an alignment performed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 86,000.
