While driving my speedometer became erratic, just one time. My cruise control is no longer working, my trip odometer is not working and possibly the odometer is not working properly. I googled for speedometer problems with 2011 Hyundai speedometers and found an article that may be false on reuters "Hyundai motor to recall nearly 84,000 us vehicles over instrument panel display failure, NHTSA says" I called Hyundai last week and the lady I spoke with said there was a service bulletin and said it would be repaired at no cost! she even set me up with an appointment at the local dealer. About 2 days later I received an email that said there was no TSB and that it was not covered under warranty. I cancelled the appointment and stopped at the Hyundai dealership. The man I spoke with seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and said it would be almost $200 to diagnose and that would be applied to the repair which would be $7-800. He also said there are 2 different switches and it coud be either switch. I know there's a lot of garbage on the internet but when I saw the article that said that "NHTSA says" and then was told by someone at Hyundai that there is a service bulletin, I believed it. I'm [xxx] old and my wife and I have had this vehicle since new. It's a good vehicle and most likely our last. However I am totally bewildered by this situation. Is there a recall/service bulletin that you are aware of or not? thank you! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I am writing regarding the NHTSA recall number23v651000. I have been on a waiting list since July when the recall notice about a remedy finally being determined was sent in the mail. I have now called Hyundai of cool springs in tennessee about where I am on the list. At one point they were saying September, then when I called again they were thinking some time in November. We are now almost out of November and I am not getting any updates and would like to park my daughter's vehicle in the garage. The dealership is saying that parts or something on back order with no idea on when I can expect an appointment to resolve this issue. I didn't let my daughter take the car to college thinking I would be able to resolve this by the time we were hitting winter break and her returning to school in January. Please provide guidance on other options to get this remedy taken care of. Thank you.
My wife was driving this vehicle 2 weeks ago and smoke came out of the driverside hood. She pulled into a parking space then the smoke came out the other side. Vehicle was towed as it would restart to the dealership. They have not done anything to look at the problem today. I reported this to their corporate for their records again little help. Based on the actual happening my research tells me it is a abs issue, which is recalled but they have not done thar either. I ask that you get involved for your records. The vehicle is at priorty Hyundai in chesapeake, va. S military highway. I hope you can get involve as I am concerned they maybe trying to mask this incident.
This is a complaint related to the status of Hyundai's recall 251. The recall has gone on for months without a resolution, and puts me and my passengers at risk should there be a fire. On April 4, 2024, I received an email notice from stafford brown Hyundai that indicated a fix was ready for my car. I made an appointment to complete the fix, scheduled for Tuesday April 9. Two hours after dropping off my car, I received a phone call from stafford brown Hyundai indicating the fix was still not available for my car. They did not know when it would be available. This recall has gone on for an unacceptable length with no fix available. The risk to myself, my passengers, and my property is high. A resolution needs to be implemented now. Furthermore, Hyundai needs better management of how they communicate information to their dealers and car owners in regards to this recall, so as not to send inaccurate updates and create confusion.
No known malfunction at this time on my vehicle - however a recall #251 has been issued with no repair available. Recall strongly recccommends parking car outside and away from structures due to possible fire which can also occur during driving. This problem has been going on with Hyundai cars for several years - and they still don't have a solution??? I called my two local dealerships and neither was aware of recall campaign 251. I asked if my abs module completely failed - what module would they replace it with? I was advised that they would probably sell me a new one costing $1900 plus labor that has the same problem!!! Hyundai is not taking this seriously - this is not being repaired in a timely manner. Please restrict them from selling anymore cars in the USA until this recall has a remedy!.
Rear subframe is completely rotted service tech advised parking the car it is unsafe to drive.
This is a complaint about the ridiculous amount of time this has gone on!.
Recall # 251 has been going on at great length and I have an appointment for 11:30am April 1,2025 for what they deem as a solution to # 251 recall that does not fix the problem and goes against everything that the NHTSA and federal goverment laws are in place for, you are allowing them to continue to not do what the laws clearly state and in a certain time period have repaired, replaced or make restiitution for the recalled issue it also is stated that they do not need to for automobiles older than 15years. Their bandaid only creates other problems and dangers and by 02/11/2026 my car will be 16years old but it wasn’t when all this first started,I own a time bomb and can not afford to buy another vehicle,im retired and live on a fixed income. Im not sure if letting them change a fuse to a lower wattage so it would fail and make the abs system disabled there by stopping leaking brake fluid from igniting. Does not meet any requirements and creates more issues. My car has awd and is low mileage for the age. I don’t agree with letting them do this but im afraid of what NHTSA or they can do if I don’t,why aren’t you stopping them perpetrate a fraud. This is not by your own law's fines have not helped the millions involved in this #251 recall thankyou.
On April 18th at 1:58pm I had just dropped off a passenger then proceeded to stop sign at a complete stop I heard a loud boom like a gunshot I was in the state of shock then I started hearing glass fall all over my car so I got out of my car to see what was the loud boom I noticed that my entire sunroof was shattered it was so scary because I normally would have the shade open but something about that day told me not to open the shade because of I would have it would have been an ugly sight for me and other vehicles as I was about to merge into traffic it could have been tragic I’m devastated.
I had my car repaired due to an open recall in April. I got in my car yesterday and while driving the car shut off and there seemed to be a liquid leaking from under the car. I had the car towed to key Hyundai of milford where the recall work in addition to other work was done. I am really worried because I could have gotten hurt if other cars where nearby. Also the dealership is saying it may take up to 2 weeks for them to inspect my vehicle. I need suggestions as to my best course of action.
My car had a recall that was going on for about a year with my car stalling and smelling of burning oil. Early this year a letter was mailed stating recall in being investigated, (campaign 181) the end of September I got the official letter about the recall and what I needed to do. It took a 1 weeks to get the car in. My car stalled twice during that time. Days before my car got fixed my car stalled twice, and I start hearing a loud noise in which I found out after the recall was fixed that my valve covers needed replaced. The technician said that it could not be fixed because engine was bad. I had a corporate representative who did nothing, and I had to call 500 times to have it escalated to a corporate manager. After I got a corporate manager is when grayson hyndaui decided to give me an estimate. My car has been parked at home since 9/24/2019 and I have paid to rent a car since that day an till this day. I want this resolved ASAP.
My 2011 Hyundai Tucson stalled while driving on a busy city road . I was going straight with 40 miles/hour when my vehicle suddenly lost power for unnown reason, and started slowing down, then completely stopped. The engine stopped, gas pedal was not responding. The check engine, oil pressure, and battery light came on at the same time when car stalled. Battery is a couple of months old, everything seem to operate normally except the vehicle does not start. Fortunately I was able to pull over to a turning lain to avoid any accident and called my insurance company to have the vehicle towed to safety. I have received a recall letter from Hyundai a few months ago, and immediately called the nearest Hyundai dealer to have the vehicle checked. The representative said they do not have the parts yet and they will contact me as soon as the parts are available. I have yet to receive a call and now my vehicle stalled. It is inoperable.
Takata recall : I have to drive 47 miles on a fast paced highway in southern florida in order to get to my job, daily. Multiple times a week I experience a stall while traveling at high speeds on the highway. I took my car to a local Hyundai dealership recently and they did not even know about the upcoming recall. For months, I have been having to drive my car and feel unsafe. I have to go to work, and I do not have another vehicle option. I feel unsafe and am incredibly upset that Hyundai has not found a resolution yet. If this problem is not fixed soon I will be forced to get another vehicle, regardless of my financial situation. My next vehicle will not be a Hyundai, solely because of the amount of time this recall resolution is taking.
Recall order 181 received last year. Been checking but all I get is " remedy not available ' you claimed this is a dangerous defeat. What does this mean, "remedy not available ''. A year and keep thinking, is this defeat going to happen while I,m dring on the I-4 highway. ?.
Tucson recall: the car seizes while in motion, and revs in motion without the driver pushing the accelerator/gas pedal - meaning the driver either is coasting or has a steady pressure on the gas pedal, and the seizing and reving of the car is more than and not equal to the pressure being applied to the pedal - so the car is "racing" even though the driver is not increasing pressure on the gas pedal. The car also stalls when first started, unless the driver revs the engine using the gas pedal in park. This has been occurring over the last year - despite the car being serviced every 3,000 miles - service provider cannot provide diagnosis or solution.
Occurs intermittently, but on a more frequent basis now, the shifter becomes blocked and the car can't be put in park. Both stability control and down hill lights come on during that time. Same has occurred while trying to get car out of park and in gear. This has occurred while car is stationary. It became a safety issue while parked on a down slope hill. Had to use e-brake and eventually find a flat road to park and use e-brake while trying to find a solution to securing the vehicle so it would not roll away.
I was driving approximately 70mph down a highway when I heard a loud pop and my sunroof exploded. Glass sprayed all over the interior of the car and with enough force to embed into the center console. I did not see any objects or other road debris that could have flown up and hit me, just the pop and rain of glass shards. I have minor abrasions on my head and face from the glass as a result of the sunroof shattering.
When driving to and from work (am/pm) the dbc (downhill brake control) and esc (electronic stability control) indicator lights will turn on and remain on until I stop and turn off the ignition. When I stop, I am unable to shift the gear into park. While in a panic, I made several attempts to put the vehicle in park and each attempt was unsuccessful. So I put it in neutral to turn the ignition off, waited a few minutes, then restarted it and put it in park in order to remove the ignition key. I may have to try this several times before I am able to shift into park. It has happened several times since the first date. Also, when I shift gears a loud mechanical clunk sounds which jerks the entire vehicle. This even happens when I start off driving and it is very annoying and scary. I have to restart the vehicle several times before it finally stop. Then after about three days it start all over again. I see this as a danger because I commute 56 miles one way to work and I thought I was purchasing a dependable vehicle but apparently not.
I no longer own this unsafe car. I am short, and thus sit lower and adjust the driver seat forward to reach pedals. (tall friends sit farther back/higher, and don't seem to have problems. ). This car has serious side blind spots caused by the decreasing size of the windows and the very thick side columns for the air bags. The driver's side column ended up right beside my face, and combined with the seat back/head rests, blocked my view. Neither side mirrors nor the rear-view mirror cover this blind area - and it can't be seen when craning one's neck to around. . . I was on the I-5 freeway near portland, or and wanted to change one lane to the left. . . I signaled, checked both side mirrors, the center rear-view mirror, and craned my head around to look, and then started moving over. . . I heard a beep!, and swerved back to my original lane, only then seeing a motorcycle which had been in my blind spot. . . My brother was killed in a motorcycle accident 7 years ago, and this incident terrified me so that I had to pull over because I was crying and shaking! it had been so close, and I decided right then I had to get rid of the car. . . There are also visibility problems when making a left turn across a large intersection (more gradual/slighter curve. . ). Turning left, the airbag column in the left corner between windshield & left window ended up in the center of my vision. I couldn't see where I was heading, and just sort of "judged" my destination lane by memory and/or cars beside me in the next lane turning. . . Scary! I have a short friend with the identical car (1 yr newer), and the same trouble with blind spots and blocked visibility when slightly turning left. These are serious issues (and looking for a new car, this car wasn't the only one with this body style. ) I bought a 2014 suburu forester, larger windows/much narrower columns, vastly improved visibility and no blocked view.
