This make an model has issues with the doors not opening, when they are unlocked and from time to time the windows will not open. These are both huge safety concerns. I have reported this to Hyundai and have a case number 2104500 which nothing has been done and I have heard nothing in over a year. This make and model need to be recalled for the door and window issues which are all over the internet when a search is done.
The passenger read doors lock up and become unoperable. So the doors cannot be opened from the outside or the inside. This creates a massive potentially tragic situation. If your children or a senior is in the back seat and a fire or an accident occurs they will not be able to leave the car from the rear doors. Let me make this very clear. The doors jam up and will not open from the inside or outside no matter what the lock position is in. Also, I see evidence online of this happening to a number of people. Hyundai did not issue a recall, but the indicated that they would fix it under "extended" warranty but when I brought it in (the door was frozen shut) they said this was something else and proceeded to charge me about $500 for the repair; $250 for the part and the same for the labor. This is a common problem and because of the seriousness involving injury and potential death this should have been recalled. How frightening is it to be locked in your car after an accident or fire?.
Back driver side door does not open at all and the passenger door only opens from the inside. If in an accident they may not be able to access me or my passengers in the vehicle. I am unaware of the cause of this issue and have not gotten it looked at by a professional.
The door latch mechanisms are all faulty. I have read in many forums where this is a common issue with Hyundai models. The door latch on the back passenger door will not operate from inside or outside. The other three doors must be pulled on repeatedly in order to gain access. This creates a very dangerous situation of entrapment if there car were to catch fire or be in an accident. It’s almost impossible to get into the car from any door. The issue isn’t a locking issue either, doors will eventually open after repeated attempts.
Front driver side window regulator assembly broke in which window would not go down. Repaired on 1/24/23 at Hyundai of st augustine for $737. 27. This is a safety risk due to not being able to put window down in case of emergency and door would not open.
Engine failure while going 70mph on the highway - huge safety issue! spark plugs totally covered in oil and the engine has major known oil consumption issues. Also 3 of our 4 door actuators broke - huge safety issues as we have kids in our back seats in car seats. This form doesn't have enough room for the letter I have composed about the specifics of the situations. Hyundai has known issues with their engines and some are under recall. We were told ours is not under recall and they will not fix it or help at all to fix it even though many of their engines have/had the same issues as ours and those engines are under recall.
-driver side and passenger side back doors do not open from the inside or outside. They just stopped opening one day, months apart. Nothing hit them or could have caused a jam. It is available for inspection upon request. -the doors don’t open, and I could not get my dog or child from out of the backseat. -this is a recurring problem based on what I have read online. The issue has been confirmed by a mechanic. -the doors were inspected by caliber collision and I got a quote from them. -there were no lights or warnings to inform me this was going to happen and still none now that it has happened. -.
When doors are unlocked, driver door outside handle will not open the door. It can be opened from the inside. No safety concern currently. Problem was reproducible by dealer technician and he stated he has a similar issue and showed me to hit below the handle with my fist. This is not a fix! when we took our Tucson for a warranty issue regarding the engine, we notified the technician of the problem and they failed to address the issue. This issue happened out of number-to-bumper warranty. I have read many forum articles by many owners that Hyundai will charge between &100 and $200 to diagnose the problem before fixing them charge for the component and labor to fix the issue. No warnings have appeared regarding the problem.
On oct. 14, 2022 I had to take my car in to repair/replace front passenger side window regulator. The window no longer would go up and down. $807. 51. Yesterday, oct. 20 my driver's side front window failed. Another $807 repair. I am a senior citizen (woman) on a fixed income also experiencing recent ian hurricane damage and repairs. Am I to expect the rest of the windows to fail? do I have some recourse with Hyundai?.
3 of the 4 doors of my 2016 Hyundai Tucson are suddenly unable to be opened from the outside or the inside. There has been no damage to the vehicle. The driver door is able to be opened at this time. This is a major safety issue as passengers are not able to exit the vehicle in the case of an emergency/children passengers are not able to be removed from the vehicle. This seems to be a widespread issue for 2016 Hyundai Tucson customers. . Read more...
The passenger door will not open after being unlocked.
Both rear doors do not open from the outside or inside, no child lock engaged. Usually takes several tries locking/unlocking to get door open. In the event of a crash, passengers would not be able to exit the vehicle. Not inspected, and no warning lamps.
Passenger side front door lock intermittently does not unlock either by pressing door handle or remote control. Passenger can be trapped inside of vehicle in the event of an emergency egress being needed. Problem is intermittent for now, but growing in frequency!.
Driver-side rear door fails to open from the inside or the outside. Currently, the passenger seated on that side of the vehicle has to enter and exit the vehicle using the door on the opposite side, which can easily be a safety issue. Thankfully, we have not been in an emergency incident or car accident where someone has had to use that door to get out of the car in a hurry. The failure to unlock the door and open seems to stem from an actuator mechanism that is faulty. (the same issue/complaint has been mentioned by other owners, including failure of more than one door latch, e. G. . Read more...
Rear passenger side door will not unlock/open. Cannot be unlocked by any switch. From info I have been able to find this could be a very dangerous situation. I have not been to the dealer or contacted the manufactuer. No warning lights or alarms have been activated by the vehicle. O6/.
Rear driver side door handle does not open, seems to be a safety issue with this car.
Rear door will not open from the inside or the outside.
My 2016 Hyundai Tucson has repeatedly had a major safety issue when one of the doors will suddenly completely stop working. One day a door will work fine, and after no accidents, impact, or any other known factor, the door is completely unable to be opened. The handle operates as intended, but the door itself does open. In the 4 years I have owned my car, I have had to repair 6 instances of this problem (2 of the doors having this issue again after initial repair). This issue includes my driver side door, where I have had to crawl through the car to get out. Apparently this is a known issue impacting a large amount of Hyundai Tucsons. This is obviously a major safety issue. If these doors cease operation for seemingly no reason due to some poorly designed / manufactured component, I can’t imagine they could withstand any sort of vehicle collision / accident. I hesitate to imagine a situation where someone is in some sort of collision and need to escape a burning vehicle / pull a child out of a vehicle and their doors do not work.
The passenger rear door won't open and hasn't done so an unknown period of time. 1. In July, 2023 I brought it to shaker Hyundai in watertown, CT when there was a recall to update the electrical system in this vehicle. I requested they try to fix the door after the recall was complete. When I left the dealership, the door opened. I stopped approximately five miles down the road on the way back home; I was unable to open it then and it hasn't opened since. The car hasn't been inspected by the police or the insurance company, but it has been inspected by the watertown, CT dealership. Yes, it's available for inspection. No lights. No messages, other than oil change light. Others have registered this issue here, and I want to add my voice to theirs. Clearly your organization knows how very dangerous it is for passengers to lack egress from the car. If this happens randomly, is it possible the remaining three of my doors will latch permanently, and what then? please do something! in the past, I owned a different car whose axle broke at an odd angle because of a defective part; the mandatory recall didn't take place for an additional two years. Please don't make me and others wait. Finally, I want my the dealership from whom I purchased to take a stab at fixing it properly and permanently. Unfortunately, danbury won't look at it since watertown tried/failed. Help!.
The front driver side door does not open when unlocked. It seems to me a known issue that the lock actuator tends to fail on these doors. This is a huge safety concern.
Both rear doors will not open from outside or from inside the vehicle. Children passengers had to clime to front to exit car. Extremely dangerous.
Driver side door no longer opens from the outside after it has been locked. Rear driver side door no longer opens from the inside or outside handle. Seen numerous reports and accounts online report this same issue. I have a 6 month old child and cannot have the doors on my car not opening.
There appears to be a dangerously common malfunction on my 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Without any warning or indication of failure I am unable to open either of my rear passenger doors. Neither from inside, nor outside. The door locks appear to lock and unlock, manually and/or electrically, but the none of the door handles work. First the rear right side, followed by the rear left side a day later. It would be impossible in an emergency for someone to exit or be removed from the vehicle. God forbid there was a fire, or child stuck in a car seat. Vehicle is available for inspection. Though have not been able to have a dealer inspect it yet. . . Hyundai is not returning my calls. How can this not be a recall yet!! do innocent people have to die first? there's no reason to have "tombstone legislation". Be proactive.
Passenger door has to be forced open when unlocked. Once opened the door works fine. Door works fine from inside. This is a safety issue because if n an accident happens and can't get in the driver's side, rescue workers couldn't get into the passenger side. I've read many customer complaints for the same issue with all doors. This should be a recall.
Door latch failure. The door latches do not work, and become un-openable. 11/2020 & 04/2022. Yes it is currently available for inspection with a non-operational door. Safety issue, cannot exit the car. Cannot get kids out of the car. I cannot get out of the car. No one can open the car door that is affected when unlocked from the inside or the outside of the car. Yes, there are articles, fixes and my personal mechanic and Hyundai mechanics have addressed the previous same issue in 11/2020. The car was inspected by a Hyundai dealer 10/2020 who gave me a quote to replace the door latches and locks. The car was inspected by my mechanic at a Chevrolet dealership as well, who installed part #Hyundai actuator motor front door lock 81310d3010. The car has not been inspected by police or insurance. The car has had same failure in drivers door that was fixed by a different car manufacturer. The car currently has a different door latch failure. There are no warning lamp indicators. The door simply will not open at all when unlocked causing a problem for anyone to exit the vehicle in an emergency.
Rear right door stopped opening from inside and outside just over a month ago. Two weeks ago front passenger door started to not be able to be opened. To not be able to safely exit a vehicle is a tremendous safety concern. . . . In an accident , in another emergency situation, if vehicle caught fire, etc. Which door will not be operable next? how can my elderly, disabled family member safely ride in this vehicle and get safely out? will I need to drive to a fire department to get doors cut open? (this actually is my go-to safety plan at this point) we took to our auto repair, they also could not open these doors. There are no dash warnings of doors being compromised. The vehicle was not in any accident incident. Internet searching reveals this to be a widespread problem with the Hyundai vehicles.
Rear passenger door will not open from inside or outside when clearly unlocked. Safety concern if must exit vehicle quickly in case of emergency.
Passenger rear door will not open from inside or outside. No damage or accident has occurred. Door just quit opening.
I purchased the car in June 2021and took the car back within the month due to the driver door having issues locking and unlocking. Today on 2/5/22 as I was driving my car on the express way my engine light, battery light and oil light came on and my car began to shake. As I got off the express way my car cut off in the middle of traffic while I had 2 kids in the car in the city of houston…. In October I was told that I was having oil consumption issues and was having to take my car back every 1,000 miles. And then was told that’ll it’ll be $900 to get a decombustion cleaning. I am unsure of why my car has stopped today. I’ll be back to let y’all know.
The drivers side door almost never opens on the first try, I usually have to pull the handle twice. Recently the passenger side back door will not open from the inside or outside, despite being unlocked. This is a huge safety concern if I were in an accident and could not open this door. I have seen dozens of other reports of people having this same issue and a recall should be issued immediately to fix this potential life threatening and dangerous issue.
Body: my vehicle has experienced a malfunction in the front passenger side door. This door does not open from the outside, regardless of it being unlocked. The failure occurs 99% of attempts to open said door. A repair was made by the dealer I purchased it from, yet the issue returned within a month. First incident: February 2022. Electrical: my vehicle has also experienced malfunctions in all four windows. The initial malfunction occurred in July 2023, when the front driver side window would not go down. Within a week of having the window regulator and motor replaced professionally, the window regulator failed again (would not go back up after being let down)-- with an additional failure in the front passenger side window regulator. The part was replaced for the second time by a different independent service provider. This time, the failure occurred when I inspected the service providers work. The part was reordered and replaced yet again. However; the service provider made me aware that the issue had occured again, shortly after they repaired it and began testing it. The window was blocked off to keep it from sliding down. The issue is now present in all four windows. Each time it is repaired, the window regulator drum gears are stripped within 3-4 uses. - vehicle is available for inspection upon request. - failure/malfunction was inspected and confirmed by two different independent service providers. - there were no warning lights or signals aside from the initial failure leading to a failure in all four windows.
I've had this used Hyundai for 6 months, had to replace drivers door panel ( windows not going up and down) stopped working. Now drivers back door window will not go up or down. Right side back door will not open anymore. On utube people by the 18k are complaining about these same issues. What next? it's like the body is falling apart.
Passenger side door failing to unlock fully, not openable from the outside under many circumstances. This seems to be a common problem with the 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Hyundai needs to issue a recall for this safety issue.
My third door has stopped opening from the outside. This is a known issue to Hyundai about these cars and it is a safety issue.
Rear passenger door when unlocked will not open. I can open the door when unlocked by banging on door just below the outside door handle.
