Steering problem #1

2017 Hyundai Tucson se vehicle mileage approx. 54,000 miles was driving on a highway doing approx. 65-70mph within 30 minutes of the 1hr and 1/2 drive I had lost complete power steering. Wheel stiffened up and was scary and difficult to lane change to a slower lane or attempt to pull over at 11:00pm due too safety and could not pull over for over an 1 hour until I was home safely. Had to hold the wheel tightly for an hour. It was very difficult to turn and enter my double wide driveway and took 3 times to get car straight enough and pull in without power steering. Turned vehicle off and I had looked into possible issues with the (eps) electric power steering and read possible loss of power steering check mdps fuse in vehicle interior fuse panel for blown fuse and all was fine with that fuse. . Then checked mdps fuse panel in engine compartment near battery and found no issue on the long circuit fuse for the mdps. After researching 2017 Tucson eps issues I ran a test by turning key on and turn wheel all the way too right and leave it there for a minute then turn wheel all the way too the left and leave there for a minute ,then turn steering wheel till wheels are straight and turn key off. Then start car and see if power steering comes back when turning steering wheel in which it did but I'm still skeptical if that was the fix. Hyundai car dealership wants to charge me $250 too run tests and diagnostics with computer system. Why should I have to pay for this since there have been numerous recalls on 2017 Tucson and the failure rate on some of the electronics and safety features and engine issues and was originally in for a new paint job for the recall. And I just received a notification for the anti-theft ignition cylinder protector hardware too be installed free of charge for the ignition and hardware to be added. I have read and seen mdps assembly issues causing sudden loss of steering assist on many of the sites and on these internet Hyundai blog complaints.

Steering problem #2

The power steering of the vehicle suddenly stopped working. We had the car towed, and after inspection we were told that the steering column had failed. We were expected to purchase a new original part from Hyundai, which we did. After waiting a week, we were told that the replacement that was sent did not work and was defective. This has happened again and again, and we are currently waiting for our 4th part from Hyundai. Hyundai corporate told our auto shop that they "opened a case" to see why these parts are defective. I'm hoping that they eventually get to the bottom of this and can fix our tuscan. We were lucky that our steering column failed on the driveway at our home, but I would imagine it could case quite a bad accident if power steering went out suddenly on someone else.

Steering problem #3

1. After driving the car and turning it off, I get a loud bang coming from a gas tank. 2. Sometimes when making a hard right or left turn steering wheel vibrates, and the warning light for all wheel drive system comes on. When I turn the car off and restart it, it goes away. 3. After software installs due to recalls, when I accelerate my radio occasionally shuts off on its own, and then we’ll come back on on its own. 4. After turning the car off when I restart it occasionally the clock in calendar revert to 00:00 for the time and the date resets to 1/1/20.

Steering problem #4

My vehicle was broken into on Nov. 17, 2022 and thieves attempted to take the vehicle after smashing the back passenger window and gaining access. The vehicle alarmed once they either attempted to either open the drivers side door or start the vehicle. Police were called and completed a report on scene. On Nov. 23, a thief returned and gained access to the vehicle by shattering the glass on the back driver side of the vehicle before getting inside and driving off in the vehicle. I reported the vehicle stolen to police and the vehicle was recovered later that evening. On Nov. 25 I went to the tow yard where the car was taken to retrieve my belongings and observe and record the damage. The entire steering column was stripped down and damaged which is how the thief was able to start it. There are highly circulated videos on social media platforms showing criminals or would be criminals how to do this. It is now also known that they are targeting specifically kias and Hyundais due to Hyundai manufacturing cars between 2016-2020 without immobilizers. My make and model being one of them and therefore making me a target. Not only that but the cars are being taken and used for joy rides, as mine was, or used in crimes. My car sustained additional damage as it was crashed into another vehicle during the thieves joyride before they ultimately jumped out of the car and abandoned it in an intersection. I was targeted, my livelihood put in jeopardy and if the car is fixable I will still be in harm's way once the repairs are completed. Hyundai needs to be held accountable as there is no way I would have purchased this vehicle knowing that the car was missing a major safety and anti-theft component. Further, why were they allowed to manufacture and sell these cars without such an important component??.

Steering problem #5

I took in my 2017 Hyundai tuscon after the engine had stalled while driving. While in the shop, the engine was replaced which was part of a recall (campaign 209) and also recalls 195 and 966 was addressed. After the repairs and driving home from the dealership, the engine and air conditioning started making weird noises and the following warning lights went abs, power steering, and electronic stability control. When this happened, steering became difficult. We brought the car in the shop, but they denied there was any problem. Within two days after brining the car back to the dealership, the same problem occurred. And now the car will not even turn on.
