The door latches are no longer opening the doors from the inside of the vehicle. This started with the passenger rear and now is effecting the drivers door. The only way to get out of the vehicle is to crawl over the seat to get to a door that is still operational. No warnings, just doesn't open when you pull on the handle. Will be making an appointment with a local dealer/service dept but given the security concerns this is being reported here as well.
Right rear passenger door will not open when actuating handles inside or outside the vehicle. Unable to remove child or allow passangers safe exit of vehicle. If you pull the handles twice or six times it will sometimes open. Intermittant issue, acuators all appear to work and be in good condition.
Unknown there is a issue with paint on the car. The paint is white and is chipping on hood, top of car and back of car. The car looks terrible with a cheap paint job.
The rear driver's side door will not open, neither with the remote nor manually from both the inside and outside. Without enabling rear passengers to exit the car during an emergency is very much a safety issue. No warning lamps or messages.
This is the second time this year one of the doors refused to open. In may the front passenger door would only open if outside handle was jiggled a few times. Two weeks ago rear door behind driver refuses to open at all - from inside or out! I have small children and this is a safety issue!! I’m terrified either the kids or I will become trapped in an emergency or other unsafe situation. In additional to the emotional impact of this is the financial. The interior door panel - which is plastic - most likely will break and need replacement. Vehicle needs to be in shop for nearly 2 weeks. I can’t trust this vehicle and will never buy this brand again. In the interim a safety recall needs to be initiated. I would not want to dump this unsafe vehicle on someone else with children or elderly people they transport. Please do something soon!.
Unknown the white paint is peeling off of my car causing it to rust the dealership took pictures and inspected it and started a good will claim and said it should be fixed under that and then came back a month later and said Hyundai has now canceled all of there goodwill claims for paint repair.
I bought the car with 83,000 miles 9 months ago. It had engine failure at 104,000. From the beginning the car stalled when trying to accelerate almost got hit several times. The car had major oil consumption issues with no leak. The car died without any warning lights almost causing an accident. I rolled into oil change place. Car was low on oil. It had engine failure.
The passenger front door and the driver side back door latches do not work I am unable to open the doors.
Door latch assembly failed and will not allow driver side door to be opened after locking. Door must be opened from inside to get in. Both rear doors were already repaired several years ago for same issue under warranty but that has now expired.
Rear passenger door will not open without manually adjusting the internal door handle components with a screwdriver (or similar tool). This poses a huge safety risk, trapping a passenger in the vehicle. I am in the process of having the door repaired, but this issue has been recalled on other models and the cost of repair should not be on the consumer, since it is a known defect.
My front doors on the Tucson when first unlocked will not open from the outside, this is a huge safety issue as if there were a crash or fire where anyone in the front seats were unconscious then help would not be able to get them out quickly, this would endanger not just drivers and passengers but also first responders. This needs to be a Hyundai recall as this is one of thousands of reports on this.
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson will trap you inside the car. The doors will work intermittently and other times they simply will not open. Even when the car is unlocked. This was recalled on certain models and years but not this one. Huge safety concern being trapped inside the car or stuck outside car.
Rear drivers side door will not open. Difficult to access kid in car seat. It has not been taken to dealer yet, but it’s a common and expensive failure of door latch discussed online.
Rear door on driver side suddenly won't open from inside or outside. The electric locks can be heard locking and unlocking but door handles do nothing. There are no messages or alerts. The concern is not being able to get someone out in the event of an emergency. There are many complaints about door actuator failures on the internet on several Hyundai models.
Paint is peeling off of the door handles, the roof, and the mirrors. There is no reason for a 2017 to have this issue. It started 6 months after I bought the car in 2022. I called them Hyundai customer center with no help.
The door latch (handle) on the rear driver side door is unable to open the door from the interior or exterior of the vehicle.
Door actuator stopped working on passenger rear door so door can’t be opened from inside or outside handles. Car is 2017 and under 55,000 miles but dealer says it is not a safety issue and can’t work on it for 3 months. What?!!!!! I can’t get my child out of the rear of the car. This is a huge safety issue and happening to a ton of Hyundai vehicles of 2015-2018 timeframe. So many that there are Hyundai forums addressing this and no one is being helped. Dealers are not willing to fix this or cover as a warranty item. Should be a safety recall item immediately.
The rear passenger door on my 2017 Hyundai tuscon will not open from either inside or outside of the vehicle despite the door being confirmed as unlocked. This is a huge safety issue as my rear passenger, currently, my 6-year-old would effectively be trapped in the vehicle during an emergency. This also requires my son to climb up to the front seat to exit the vehicle at school as I am required to allow him to exit from the right side of the car for safety reasons. There were no warning indicators for this. The issue first appeared yesterday, 9/6/202, when I went to take my son to cub scouts and could not open the vehicle door to let him in the car. I am making an appointment with Hyundai but a basic google search shows this is a widespread issue with Hyundai vehicles in this year range and given the grave concern for safety I do not understand why this is not a recall.
The driver's door gets stuck on a regular basis preventing entrance from the outside. This problem causes an inconvenience of needing to open the door from the inside of the car. As a reference, a few years ago the same issue above occurred but with the back door in which Hyundai repaired.
Rear passenger door will not open from either inside or outside. You can hear the lock click and the latch moves to unlocked but the door will not open when handle is pulled. This is a huge safety issue as anyone in the back seat cannot get out in case of an emergency and no one on the outside can get in! the issue began on 7/13/22 when the respective door seemed to "stick" but opened. On 7/14/22 it would not open at all from either outside or by pushing from inside. I called the dealership and was told because my car was 5 years and 2 months old (but less than 60,000) it no longer fell under the manufacturers warranty. This is not a wear and tear issue. This is a complete safety issue that needs to be considered for a recall and my own research has shown that this is a known issue with Hyundai vehicles lock actuators.
Two of the 4 doors no longer open from either the inside or outside. They are not locked and are not damaged in anyway, they just stopped opening. This is a safety hazard as someone could get trapped in my car, or unable to get into the car to avoid danger.
Back passenger door will not open from the inside or outside.
Door handle latch will not open door from inside or out due to either defective latch or cable. This is a very dangerous condition for occupant that could become trapped and unable to escape vehicle. Seems that there are multiple reports of this happening. I already had one such latch replaced while my vehicle was still under warranty now another has failed. Thankfully this was not an emergency situation.
Driver door will not open after unlocking it without forcefully throwing your weight into it repeatedly and trying to open it until it does.
The driver side door suddenly will not open with the key fob or the key. There is no damage to my door and I have kept it well maintained. I feel this is a faulty issue that Hyundai should repair because it is not fault of my own.
All of a sudden the passenger rear door cannot be opened either unlocked manually or with the remote. I believe it is the actuator. Online forums say this is a huge problem and also a safety risk. If a person cannot exit the vehicle in an emergency this is unacceptable.
Two things. . . . My back passenger side door just stopped opening. . . You cannot open from inside nor can you open from outside. . . Won't open at all and now I notice the window 'sticks' I have to put it down and then it will go up slowly. 2nd this car burns through oil and I have seen other complaints regarding this from others online as well. I have to have an extra container of oil to use once every other week and now the muffler is smelling bad no oil can light ever when on but when I bought it used, about 3 weeks later the engine light came on and it started to knock. I went to a jiffy lube and they said "you have no oil" there are no spots at work or my driveway! this engine is a joke.
Body - exterior. Door handles stop working and cannot open the doors. Engine - massive oil consumption issue. Having to put in roughly 10 quarts of oil in between oil changes, but low oil warning light inside of the cluster also never comes on to let you know if the oil is low.
When attempting to open the passenger side door after unlocking the car, the handle must be pulled numerous times. The door opens from the inside of the car with no issues, but cannot be opened from the outside. It started as three pills would open the door, but now it’s upward of 5-10 hard pulls to open the door from the outside of the vehicle. No warning lamps on the dash and only 37,000 miles. Not diagnosed by the manufacturer. This causes a major safety issue when needing to access the vehicle from the exterior and not being able to quickly or efficiently get into the vehicle.
Door Smart key button has broken (driver's & front passenger's door) user is unable to lock/unlock the car. User must use the beeper or key to unlock/lock the car. Went to dealership and the told me that the car has been forced by someone because is very easy to steal. Went to another place and they basically told me that the button broke from usage not by forcing it to enter the car and part is very weak. Vehicle has been indoors and other vehicles doesn't. Car company could knew the issue as the new redesigned model has a touchscreen handle to unlock. Lock the car.
The rear passenger door will not open from the inside or from the outside when the vehicle is unlocked. This is a hazard as if there's an emergency and a person needs to exit the vehicle they are unable to without climbing seats.
The rear passenger door will not open either from the inside or outside even though the lock/unlock seems to be functioning. It happened randomly.
Left rear passenger door will not open, door locks work but door will not open from the inside or outside.
My daughter was driving her car up a hill on hwy 2 and it slowed to a stop. She pulled over and it started smoking. The engine caught fire and burned her car. It was a total loss.
Back right passenger door will not open from inside or outside. I've read online that many people with 16-17 Tucson's have had this problem. This should be a safety recall because in the case of an accident I don't know how someone could be helped out of the car without cutting the door off. You can't get in or out through that door vehicle was stationary when I noticed the problem. Problem exists whether engine is on or off.
