The contact owned a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 25-30 mph, another vehicle struck the front driver side, flinging the vehicle to the right side before another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side. The air bags failed to deploy. No warning light was illuminated. The contact's husband sustained back injuries, while the contact suffered a concussion. Medical attention was received for both. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, where it was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
Airbag indicator came on around 62000 miles. Was told by Hyundai technician that it cost $2100 plus to replace part. Hyundai has known problems with airbags. Did this extend to my model? have others had similar problems?.
All warning lights and audible alarms started going off at the same time. Eps, abs, auto hold, collision warning, air bags, all wheel drive, brake system, and more. 1st time it happened was [xxx], while driving. The car was drivable but I did notice a difference in braking and acceleration. I parked and turned off the car. I did turn the car back on several times and the alarms continued. I finally turned it off for 10 min, and all alarms stopped, but the check engine light stayed on. Car sat overnight and all warnings had stopped. Took it in for service, and issue could not be duplicated. 2nd time it happened was [xxx]. I had to have the car towed since it would not move when in drive or reverse. Alarms were still going off when it made it to service. They replaced the brake harness. 3rd time happened on [xxx], 3 days after the brake harness was replaced. Towed it to service and they replaced the engine harness. 4th time was on [xxx], 2 weeks after engine harness was replaced. This time there were no audible alarms, just all of the visual ones. Same performance issues as stated before. This issue seems to have happened to several other Hyundai owners as well, as per complaints in reddit and on Hyundai forums. There does not seem to be a consensus for what is actually causing this issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
During a recent accident, the driver pressed the brakes but they did not respond, almost as if they locked up. Police at the scene noted there were no skid marks on the road, suggesting the brakes never engaged. The vehicle suffered major side impact damage, including broken windows and crushed passenger-side doors, but none of the airbags deployed. This raises serious concerns about a possible brake system failure and airbag non-deployment defect. The vehicle has not yet been repaired and is available for inspection. Police have reviewed the accident, and the insurance company has also seen the vehicle, but no mechanical inspection has been completed by the manufacturer. There were no warning lights or error messages prior to the failure. The safety of the driver and passengers was put at risk because the car could not be stopped and the airbags did not deploy to provide protection.
While driving, my entire dashboard lit up with every warning sound and symbol for the car. It would cycle through collision, airbags, braking, all of it. Luckily I was able to drive to a safe place. I let the car sit overnight and the alarms stopped. Took it to service and they could not recreate it and no codes showed up. Second time it happened, the warning sounds and lights didn’t stop. The car would jerk when I tried to put it in drive, so I had it towed to dealership. They have video and photos of it. After 2 weeks, they said it was fixed-a pin in a connector was bent. Had car for 3 days and it happened again. Had it towed again. They have had their ‘senior’ techs looking at it, and none can figure it out. There are reddit posts with this same issue, as well as Hyundai group sites.
On 6/2/2023, my 16 year old granddaughter was involved in a head on collision involving a driver who ran a red light. Upon impact of the two vehicles, none of the airbags in my granddaughter's 2022 Hyundai Tucson sel deployed. The impact was so severe that the Hyundai Tucson was totaled. My granddaughter and her passenger's safety were severely at risk because of this malfunction! to my knowledge, no problem of this nature has been reproduced for confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The car is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representative. The police and emt on the scene saw that the airbags did not deploy. I have filed a complaint with Hyundai corporate office in alabama. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
While I was stopped for a car ahead turning left I was hit from behind which pushed me into the car in front of me. No airbags deployed . Truck that hit me was traveling at 50 mph. Never applied brakes.
The following is an account of what happened when the SUV's brakes failed, which caused serious damage to the 2022 Hyundai Tucson (the "SUV") and also damaged two other vehicles. On February 15 in the afternoon, the SUV was traveling approximately 20-30 mph and was rolling up to a red light. There were about 6 car lengths between the SUV and the next vehicle as driver started pressing the brakes. Driver noticed the SUV wasn't slowing down so driver started pumping the brakes and still nothing. Driver even looked down to make sure he/she was pressing the right pedal and he/she was. The SUV was getting closer and closer to the vehicle in front. Driver kept trying the brakes, pumping, flooring, everything. The SUV would not slow or stop. Driver tried to avoid the car ahead and did all driver could think of to slow and not hit the car ahead but the SUV would not slow down. The collision warning came on as the SUV struck the right of car in front of it. The emergency braking did not come on. Further, the SUV still did not stop until the tire hit the concrete barrier in the road. The airbag did not deploy. In total three vehicles were damaged as the SUV hit one which pushed it into another at the light. Hyundai corporate consumer assistance was contacted and a case opened. The case manager did the initial reach out after the complaint but has failed to return any phone messages or emails about the case for close to a month. They were told where the vehicle was and consent signed so they could inspect and it remains available for them to do so. The dealership was contacted but the person spoken to said its a corporate issue. The SUV is at a body shop and will be sent to Hyundai for mechanical issues and we are hoping they will look at least then for cause. There were no issues before the accident. No previous brake issue. The SUV is badly damaged. It is available to inspect upon request. The accident could have caused driver or others serious harm.
I have a lot of questions. I bought the best trim car for safety, but as a result, nothing worked. The damage to my family caused by this was a lot of damage mentally and physically, and it took a lot of time for these results to come out. That ended my view of Hyundai/kia as a korean american living in the u. S. I will never repurchase a korean car. I suspect a sudden acceleration. I decided to report to NHTSA/bbb/Hyundai motor America/ftc.
12/02/2022 while parking the vehicle in a parking spot in a parking garage, vehicle suddenly lurched forward causing the vehicle to hit the parking garage cement wall. this caused him to hit his head very hard on the steering wheel. The air bag deployed after he hit his head. The air bag did not protect him. He did not hit the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle accelerated by itself, which caused it to hit the parking garage wall. Shortly after this occurrence; he was at the post office, to drop mail in the mail box, and he very slightly removed his foot from the brake pedal to move the vehicle up a foot or two, and the vehicle lurched ahead approximately four to six feet. Again, he did not hit the accelerator pedal. Luckily, there was no other car in front of him or the vehicle might have hit it. Prior to the self acceleration of the vehicle in the parking garage and at the post office, this issue occurred while he was driving on the highway. He was going 55 mph and the vehicle suddenly went 75 mph. He was at a place where there is an exit, and he would not go that fast at this particular area. He explains he did not accelerate the car himself. He was so concerned about the vehicle self accelerating that he immediately got off of the highway to look under the hood to see if there was some explanation for this. We addressed this issues with the Hyundai dealer. On 01/06/2023, according to the report from them they drove the vehicle around their building and then looked for engine or transmission, and they said there were none.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph when a semi truck failed to slow down with traffic when they were hit on the right rear passenger side of the vehicle. The side air bags failed to deploy. The contact had bruising on their body and the passenger had injuries to their head and bruising to the body. Medical attention was needed. A police report was filed. The vehicle had been towed and deemed totaled. The semi truck was damaged as well. The dealership was not made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 14,670.
Purchased a brand new 2022 Tucson. Within 2 months it went to the dealer with about 7 dash fault lights turning on (abs, air bag, lane assist, check engine, just to name a few) and breaks engage on their own. Stayed at the dealership for over 2 months while they had the Hyundai engineers try to figure out the issue. They gave it back to me and said it was a connector in the rear door. The vehicle has been back 4 times for the same exact issues for months at a time and they keep experimenting and giving it back to me. I tried to get it exchanged for a safer one and they denied my request. I guess my families safety isn't that important to Hyundai after all.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph collided with an elk. The engine caught fire and vehicle was engulfed in the flames. The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely. The contact stated that prior to crash the check engine warning indicator light was illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no reported injuries. A police report was filed with catron county 575 533 6222 under case 9002-106-21. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
Thankfully we are alive. We were going at speed and he attempted to pass me on the median, grass and rumble strips. He was inches away from my rear bumper, riding me. When I put the turn signal to move away from him he hit my driver’s side rear panel (side swiped), thank god it didn't turn into a pit maneuver and killed us. He then proceeded to take off. So one thing I have to say is, the vehicle has great pick up. I called 911 and went after him to get his lic plate. When I got to be about 10 car lengths or so, he slammed his brakes. Since I was on the left lane, I could not keep going left and risk going into oncoming traffic. Plus, there was a car on the right lane I slammed the brakes and rear ended him on his right rear. He had a 2021 Toyota tacoma pick up and our hood flipped up and shattered the windshield. The hood stayed up and I was driving blind. All I did was keeping straight, not knowing where I was going and didn’t hit a vehicle, tree, embankment or sign. I went there yesterday and I have no idea how I we didn’t die. I’m so shaken up by it. When we came to a stop, there was a hole about 6 feet from my front tire. We were the victim of road rage and this person caused the accident purposely. He admitted it to the police. He said to the cop, I was slowing down traffic. I suspect with the size of his vehicle and being so close to my rear bumper, he did not see my turn signal. My major concern is the airbags did not deploy and the hood flipped open blocking my view. I was in a forum and this happened to the same model owned by someone else. I suspect this is a design flaw.
Had my car scanned it said air control unit. With that light on if I have a collision my ai bags won't deploy and my safety belts will not lock.
