After inspection by a few people it was determined that the front passenger side lower frame cracked which then cracked the body oozing rusty water out of it. I was told that if the car was hit on the passenger side that it would not retain its ability to be stable and would crumple. It has been inspected by the Hyundai dealership, a general manager from another dealership and 3 auto body welders. This first appeared in December of 2025 after I had washed my car and was drying it off.
While driving my 2022 Hyundai Tucson at highway speed, the panoramic sunroof spontaneously shattered with a loud “explosion” sound. There was no road debris, overhead structure, or external cause, and no warning lights or prior symptoms. The glass shows a central hole with spiderweb cracking radiating outward, which is consistent with a manufacturing defect in tempered glass panels, not an impact. The sunroof shade was closed, preventing glass from entering the cabin, but this failure created a serious safety risk to occupants and nearby drivers. This matches numerous reports of Hyundai panoramic sunroof failures and is similar to the pattern documented in NHTSA investigation pe13-017. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Hyundai but is available for inspection. Incident occurred on [xxx], while driving from monroe, louisiana, to atlanta, GA, shortly after departure. The failure created a serious safety issue, forcing us to stop at a home depot and perform emergency repairs using tarp and gorilla tape to secure the roof and continue our trip safely. I drive 2022 Hyundai Tucson hyrbrid limited. I have noticed a plastic cluttering noise coming from outside hood area on driver side. This noise is always there at highway speed only. Have already complained to dealership but they act like they are confused and can’t figure out where exactly noise is coming from. Like me many people have complained about this same cluttering problem which nobody has figured out where exactly it’s coming from. But the noise is loud and always there at highway speed. Only way to hide this noise is by playing loud music.
1. I had an issue with my new Hyundai: rear driver side window just shattered with no reason. 2. It's happened what car was in parking spot and glass does not hurt anyone, but it could happen on a highway with worst consequences. 3. I believe it was kind of factory defect or so, but local dealership doesn't agree with me, they didn't even inspect it. 4. There were no signs that this going to happen, window was just fine all the time, and the day before incident, and the same day in the morning. Also I have video recording from outdoor surveillance cameras of the moment when it's happened if you would like to take a look.
The panoramic sunroof failed, shattering without any apparent impact while I was going 70mph on the interstate. Glass went everywhere. I was not near any other vehicles and the glass shattered outwards (this, according to Hyundai, is a hallmark trait of the sunroof failing without external cause -- note that they've previously had a recall for the same panoramic sunroof issue in another model car). My safety, and the safety of others, was put at risk due to the "exploding" glass, the speed at which the incident occurred, and the shock it caused me (the driver) while driving on the interstate. The problem has been confirmed by the Hyundai dealership that I bought the car from. They said they've had to repair multiple Hyundai vehicles with failing panoramic sunroofs at that dealership alone (apparently, this issue is most common in the santa fe model). Hyundai is covering the replacement and repair of the sunroof under the car's warranty. They stated that panoramic roofs "explode" due to pressure issues. After they told all this to me, they stated that they "think" something hit my roof, and sent me a picture of chipped glass behind the giant hole on my car's roof. Even if the sunroof failed because something hit it, it should not shatter in the way that it did (as the person driving the car at the time of the incident, there was nothing that hit the car).
I wasn’t even allowed to select all the issues I’ve had with this vehicle since day of purchase three years ago June, and upon picking up the car I have had issues. My leather seats have bubbled up. My car will not merge. It will suddenly accelerate my car drops down in the middle of the road. My moonroof opens on its own. My car windows were randomly roll down on its own. My car breaks itself. My car emergency brake won’t unhook my car. Every single light is now on it. They have attempted to fix numerous times and my life has been put in jeopardy and my child’s life numerous times. No one can fix this issue. I am now told her I will have to wait three weeks for a rental because everyone’s backed up in diagnosing these cars. This car is going to kill me in my child and is a safety hazard. It does this stuff with lights on and without and it’s random and no warning my ev warning has come on my brake system. Warning has come on my car has been unable to stop and coasted and suddenly was able to then stop.
