Both horns needed to be replaced three times due to both stopped working and I listed the dates below. First time replacement: 4-6-24, second time replacement: 10-9-24, third time replacement: 1-16-25. Now on 9-26-25 both horns stopped worknig again, I checked the horn fuse and that is good. I now need to call the dealer to have both horns replaced for the fourth time. I also contacted Hyundai's national customer service to log a complaint as well. To me this is a safty issue since the horn is used to possible prevent an accident. I check the horns when I drive the car since they go bad so often and I have under 28,000 miles on the vehicle.
All warning lights and audible alarms started going off at the same time. Eps, abs, auto hold, collision warning, air bags, all wheel drive, brake system, and more. 1st time it happened was [xxx], while driving. The car was drivable but I did notice a difference in braking and acceleration. I parked and turned off the car. I did turn the car back on several times and the alarms continued. I finally turned it off for 10 min, and all alarms stopped, but the check engine light stayed on. Car sat overnight and all warnings had stopped. Took it in for service, and issue could not be duplicated. 2nd time it happened was [xxx]. I had to have the car towed since it would not move when in drive or reverse. Alarms were still going off when it made it to service. They replaced the brake harness. 3rd time happened on [xxx], 3 days after the brake harness was replaced. Towed it to service and they replaced the engine harness. 4th time was on [xxx], 2 weeks after engine harness was replaced. This time there were no audible alarms, just all of the visual ones. Same performance issues as stated before. This issue seems to have happened to several other Hyundai owners as well, as per complaints in reddit and on Hyundai forums. There does not seem to be a consensus for what is actually causing this issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The vehicle is currently in the shop due to safety concerns involving malfunctioning exterior lighting and a serious incident of the vehicle entering limp mode. 1) with automatic headlights activated, all exterior lights shut off while driving at night, posing a significant safety risk. 2) during daylight hours, the automatic headlight system inconsistently toggles between different lamp settings, switching off and on erratically. 3) while attempting to turn left during morning rush hour traffic (on a 40 mph road where vehicles often travel 50+ mph), the vehicle entered limp mode upon acceleration. It bogged down in the middle of both lanes, unable to exceed 13 mph, placing me in a highly dangerous position. After pulling over and leaving the vehicle off for 5 minutes, the issue temporarily resolved upon restart. 4) the vehicle is stored in a garage, and following the limp mode incident, I received repeated “door unlocked” notifications every 30 minutes from 2:30 am to 5:30 am, though the vehicle had not been accessed. These issues are of serious concern and appear comparable to conditions outlined in recall #149 and recall #236, both of which address similar malfunctions related to exterior lighting and powertrain performance. VIN# currently is not within the recalls.
While driving on highway going 65 mph my car 22 Hyundai Tucson sel dashboard lights turned red and shut off on the highway with no warning, was not able to put in park for 10 minutes. My safety was put at risk, the vehicle stopped mid drive on the highway with other vehicles. Dealership has not fixed or looked at the issue.
While driving, without warning, all malfunction lights came on the dashboard and stayed on, including check engine light. The speedometer and rpm show as zero even though I’m moving. The power steering locks up. Scary as hell! this has happened 5+ separate times within the past 2 months. The first time I had it towed to the dealer and they said it was caused by a karr alarm that was pre-installed by the dealer prior to my new purchase which I never authorized and was never activated. They said it was causing a short even though it happened 2+ years after purchase. It was removed by the dealer for free and the electrical issue happened again the next day while driving. It was towed to the dealer again and after a week the car was returned to me with no diagnosis as they were unable to replicate. It happened 2-3 more times and I got it towed to the dealer for a third time as I don’t feel safe driving this car at all. I am scared the car will die while on the highway. Car still at dealer.
Safety issue having to replace multiple horns on the vehicle. Known issue from Hyundai America. Would like an investigation, maybe a recall.
While driving, my entire dashboard lit up with every warning sound and symbol for the car. It would cycle through collision, airbags, braking, all of it. Luckily I was able to drive to a safe place. I let the car sit overnight and the alarms stopped. Took it to service and they could not recreate it and no codes showed up. Second time it happened, the warning sounds and lights didn’t stop. The car would jerk when I tried to put it in drive, so I had it towed to dealership. They have video and photos of it. After 2 weeks, they said it was fixed-a pin in a connector was bent. Had car for 3 days and it happened again. Had it towed again. They have had their ‘senior’ techs looking at it, and none can figure it out. There are reddit posts with this same issue, as well as Hyundai group sites.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? > while driving, the following systems fail and become inoperable sporadically: blind-spot safety system, tire pressure monitoring system, Smart cruise control system, lane following assist system, speed limit warning system, shifter system malfunction, infotainment system, hvac controls and turn signals. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? > I lose access to all safety systems and am unable to see anything on my dashboard while every single light flashes on the dash. Being unable to utilize my turn signals is dangerous because I must restart the vehicle for the issue to be resolved. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? > the problems were confirmed - but not reproduced by the Hyundai certified service center. They stated that they can see logs of the issues and were unable to diagnose the specific failures without the warning lights being actively present. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? > yes. It was sold to me as a certified pre-owned vehicle directly from a Hyundai dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? > the warnings and failures appeared at 64,752 miles, which is less than 5,000 miles after the warranty coverage ended. I purchased the vehicle with 64,300 miles. The issues began less than 500 miles after purchase.
Had the oil changed at the 36k mark. Since then some weird electrical issues are happening. Bluetooth nor android auto will play a song more than 2 minutes before starting again. The screen is harder to "touch" for anything. If I turn my blinker on or use any control on steering wheel as well as roll down the window, the electrical will "flash" and again song starts all over. My husband went out to garage last night and opened the garage door to go to his truck and did not have the key to my Tucson on him. He opened the garage door and the hatch to the Hyundai started opening as well. Taking into the dealer on Tuesday, they state no recalls on any electrical issues, though I see it throughout multiple platforms online.
Hyundai has a service bulletin for their 12v battery but isn’t notifying owners. Today my vehicle stopped working and lost all acceleration on a busy 3 lane street that is 55mph. I was able to limp it to a left turn lane where I had to research the issue and found many others had instances like mine. The battery stops working and subsequently stops the vehicle from accelerating and tells you to ‘stop safely’ with no warning or indication that you’re about to stop moving on a road.
The backup camera turns off without warning. SUV is low miles. Hyundai has a recall for this on other models. I'd like to see it extend over to the Tucson also.
12-volt battery dead after 5 days sitting in garage without starting the car. As a result, the doors could not be opened without removing the cap covering the door keyhole. This cover was very difficult to remove and required roadside assistance. The dealer service department advised on 10/28/24 that the battery required replacement but that no batteries were available. The dealer service department advised that procuring a replacement 12-volt battery would take 1 to 3 months. The car is in the possession of the dealer service department and cannot be driven as of today, 11/23/24.
Check engine light and error message popped up on screen "a possible condition with your engine control system has been detected. A full system check is recommended to be done when convenient. Please contact your local dealership to schedule an appointment. " roughly 46500 miles. Contacted bluelink and they could not help because dealerships were already closed.
After dark, the headlights will randomly switch from auto to parking lights to headlights on or completely off. When using the selector sometimes takes a few seconds to switch from auto to off and sometimes won’t switch off. This just started three days ago. It happens while it’s parked and while driving the lights will shut off. You can use the switch to turn them on but both auto and off take a while to be selected.
The check hybrid system light came on just after I tried to accelerate from a complete stop and I had no acceleration. I had the accelerator pushed to the floor and I got no response and was not able to accelerate two different times within 5 minutes of one another. I was in traffic unable to accelerate. I took it to the dealer and they were unable to find anything wrong and told me to bring it back if it happened again.
The apple car play goes on and off at random. It works perfectly about 70% of the time, then will not work for no apparent reason. While trying to get it reconnected, the seat heater on the driver's side would come on. This has happened many times so I want to mention it in case it's connected. I don't think I've accidentally engaged it that many times. It poses a risk because it takes my attention away from driving and could cause me to run into the car in front of me. I'll be taking it to the dealership in 3 weeks. There were no warning lamps or messages.
I had my gps on and it completely stopped working sending me in circles and the voice directing completely stopped. Very dangerous it had me making u-turns at dangerous intersections. I stopped several times put address in again. This has happened several times and it is very dangerous. Also this address is a known gps address not some obscure destination ´ next twice I have pushed the start button with my foot on the brake and the car would not start. Third try it started.
I was driving and came to a stop to make a right turn. I put on the turn signal and nothing happened. I drove to where I could pull over and I tried the flashers and they worked so I turned the car off. I then turn on the car and still no turn signals inside and outside. I drove to where I was going and we ate supper. When I came back about 1 1/2 hours, I turned on the car and tried the turn signals and there worked. It's been almost a week and it hasn't happened again.
On August 1st I was on the highway at 55 mph when my 2022 Hyundai Tucson decelerated to 20 mph and would not go faster. This occurred on the highway at 5:45 pm. This placed myself and others in danger as I was on the highway in the center lane at the time of the deceleration. After turning the car in, the dealership returned the car with no repairs but stating that I engaged a button that caused a limit to the car's speed. I didn't understand but took their word. I drove it from the dealership to the store and home. The very next morning while taking my grandson to school at 5:15 am the car decelerated from 45 to 20 mph with my grandson inside the car. This placed myself and a family member in danger along with cars around me. Each time I had to drive to the dealership in unsafe conditions. They stated that I was not engaging the brake enough to charge the battery. I do not know of any documentation stating the number of times the brake must be engaged per drive. I have never heard of such engineering that allows a car to only go 20 mph and create a hazard for the occupants unknowingly. The dealership has stated that refuse to fix the problem but I should engage the brakes more often when I drive. The car has spent several months in their care due to continued repairs over the time that I've had it and is currently their because of the engine light being on.
Car lunched from a traveling in traffic 50+ mph to 39 mph and then had to push the pedal to the floor to get it off the highway and on the side during 5 o'clock traffic. Said something about the hybrid battery and went dead. Dealer has had it for 11 days and still can't get it started. Apparently there are three batteries in relation to this hybrid and all 3 don't work and never seen this before. Since it's been at the dealer, Hyundai has emailed me no less than 3 times that I need to check my lights because my battery is getting low all the while it has been completely dead and they don't even know it. Suffice to say, there was no warning other than a couple of miles prior, my car lunched down to the 39 mph and I lunged on the gas and it picked back up again but it wouldn't do it a 2d time. They obviously still don't know about the vehicle being so dead 2 different tow trucks had to be called because even the tires were locked up. Just still receiving my messages I need to check my lights because my battery (not batteries multiple) is low and it's not low, theyre all 3 dead. I was in a dangerous situation and always felt safe in a 2 yr old car with a full tank and hybrid battery backup and less than. 20k miles. If ever fixed because service may have to send out of state I will never buy a hyandai or hybrid again. The entire battery system broke down. Which killed the entire electrical system which now no one knows how to fix.
I was coming back from the mall on the highway doing 50mph and my truck started losing power which it has done before but this time the emergency brake came on and my truck stopped in the middle of the highway on a Saturday. Thank god no one was following me close because that would have caused a bad accident. And also sometimes after I stop at a light or stop sign my brakes harden and I can’t press them down if that makes since and all my needles move back and fourth while the engine is making a noise but the car is still in drive but will not move. I have to hit the button to turn the car off and restart it and this has happened to me 3 times already. This is very frustrating and scary.
Ignition coil failure while driving. Loss of power, jerking performance, almost to point of stalling. No check engine lights until failure. Confirmed with scanner what computer was registering. I’ve seen other posts online of this happening.
While driving on busy highway the vehicle would not accelerate even with more gas applied. Gave warning to check hybrid system and pull to safety. Vehicle wouldn’t turn off after pulling over and in park with flashers on. Various warning lights all came on, gave message of battery discharge warning, check brakes, check abs, check brakes then everything complete shut off including hazard lights. Wouldn’t start after that until jumped by tow driver. This is the second time this occurred, first time being within the first year after purchase.
Turn signals are not working.
My wife was with my aunt and driving at 70mph on pgbt highway and instant the check engine light come on and the car started smelling of burnt equipment and stalled. The cabin was filled with white smoke and the windows jammed as well. The car was stalled in the middle of the highway with traffic zooming past and severing to save us. This car put my family is a life threatening situation and I want that to be recorded. We use this vehicle for our family trips and it haunts me to think what it can do to my wife and kids. I have started a formal complaint with Hyundai corporate and the complaint number is 22494136. Also the car is with Hyundai dealership at address: 1301 n central expy, mckinney, TX 75070 (469) 525-4300) and I am yet to receive a diagnosis from them on what actually happened to the vehicle. Cops were called at the scene but a formal police report was not given.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle intermittently went into limp mode with several unknown messages displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure occurred for approximately 15-20 seconds before the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
Vehicle would not accelerate leaving driveway. Was bucking as I went down the street. At end of street when I tried to turn off it stopped as I accelerated and I was almost rear ended. I pulled over there were no warning lights on at all. I pulled out as I wanted to turn around and go home and it would not accelerate again. I was able to make it home. I looked up problem on line and it seems like I am not alone. As it is Sunday going to call dealer tomorrow but not expecting them to take it in soon as most appointments take over 1 month to get. I am very scared to drive my car.
Sound stopped working. No warning just stopped no alarms/alerts. First time was August 14th, 2023 less than 5000 miles. Looked up seems problem has been acknowledged but no recall. Had to reset battery for system to rest. Fuse is problematic per reports. Must happen 3 times for dealer to replace.
My signals completely stopped working. Cameras are not showing from either side mirror either. Tried turning off and turning on the car and it still does not come back on.
I turned right into my driveway at a slow speed. As I went onto the driveway, the car surged forward. To avoid driving into the garage door, I turned to the left to drive along the side of my house thinking I would be able to stop it. I kept hitting the break but the car kept going. When the vehicle did not stop, I steered to the right because I thought it could be possible that my neighbor's dog could be in the adjacent yard (to the left of my house) the ground between the houses is pitched down (to the left) towards my house and I side-swiped the back half of the side of my house. Although applying the break, my car continued after sideswiping the side of my house with the front right side of my car and went into the house behind my house causing damage to that house. My car stopped when it went into the house behind my house.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer for an alternator replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced at 45,000 however, upon retrieval of the vehicle, the mileage was 29,000. While driving, the idle start/stop became inoperable. The radio failed to shut off and caused the battery to be drained. The contact called the dealer who informed him it would take six weeks for the battery to recalibrate. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.
All electrical systems proceeded to malfunction with the check engine and driver safety system warnings blaring. Vehicle proceeded to accelerate from 10-40 mph on its own for approximately 400 meters on the freeway. Vehicle brake and acceleration system did not respond to any driver input for approximately the entire length. Vehicle then proceeded to respond normally temporarily allowing us to pull over to a nearby parking lot and engage the emergency parking brake and out the gear into park. Transmission gear indicator then proceeded to switch randomly from drive to neutral to park and repeating with infotainment system glitching. After engine was shut off and given time it was restarted and vehicle operated normally. Vehicle is currently under diagnosis with service center (huffines Hyundai mckinney).
05/11/2023 driving on highway (work zone) dash flashed hybrid system failure - I was in the fast lane with tractor trailer in front ,behind ,and alongside me - gas pedal stopped working at that point nothing worked - managed to coast to the shoulder (could have been killed) had it towed to Hyundai - they checked the computer and said nothing was wrong . That means if we were killed - Hyundai would be off the hook and they would say human error because they said no faults were stored and the codes were clear.
I bought a ‘22 Tucson hybrid in sept of ‘22. Upon delivery there were issues w paint & a dent on the rear qtr panel. The bigger issue however, is disconnect in communication between the ev motor, gas engine & transmission. All work is done @dealership and well maintained. History of ev over 8 months: @1000 miles noise under vehicle began. Dealership inspected, all checked out. The dealership has done all servicing as scheduled. From 1000 to 12,000 miles, the vehicle drove best if in sport mode. Sport mode utilizes the gas engine and not ev. When in ev modes, the vehicle runs high rpms or it’s sluggish. It’s never consistent. In some instances; the vehicle will actually stall for 2-3 seconds and kick back on. 1 instance was at a stop light, turning left. Mid turn, gas to the floor, the vehicle stalled for 3 seconds before responding. I was almost hit at 50 mph in the intersection as both motors failed me. The next day, 3 lights came an ev, check engine and hybrid motor light came on, 3 total. My Hyundai app stated: issue communicating ev and gas motor, ems communication error. This cleared itself in 36 hrs but I couldn’t drive it safely for a week. I took it to the dealership, everything checked out. 3 days ago @ 17,400 miles, I received a text: Hyundai stated car unfit to drive. Dtc code u062300, u111200, u02bb0:powertrain ems issue. The techs had it 2 days, fixed it. 3 blocks from dealer, check engine light came on again. I returned it to dealer. I’ve found 32 accounts of these codes resulting in a Hyundai buy-back, new engine, new transmission or settlements. I’m told my ev motor, gas engine and transmission won’t communicate even after software / firmware updates & mechanical changes. I don’t feel the vehicle to be roadworthy and I don’t feel safe driving it, if Hyundai has no fix. I’m told, many sales of this model @ my dealer have the same issues. Bad batch? I paid $47k (car & warr) I’m hoping for a buy back or to get into a Toyota hybrid of = value.
Since I received my car, within a few couple of months I have noticed that the car would jump forward when changing the rpms/gears. When I had brought it in for an oil change, I had mentioned it to the service tech and they told me they would run a diagnostic to see if anything would pop up but the likelihood hood it wouldn't show anything. The second time I mentioned it again while I was driving, the car would accelerate faster than normal as though it was on sports mode even though it wasn't, and then the car/engine would jump or make the car lunge forward as it was slowing down. They said they would look into it again but nothing was found. A few months later I was driving home on the freeway when my car jumped again, the engine turned off and I was in the middle of the freeway not being able to accelerate but take the speed I was going to move over to the emergency side in order not to get hit by another car. I got it towed into the dealership, they said they would get back to me after a few days and once they found out what happened, they had my car for about 2 weeks. They also wanted me to pay for a fuel system flush and returned the car to me on empty gas which was full when I brought it in. The back passenger window wasn't working either and I had brought that up to their attention saying if I were to bring it back in I would need to pay for a diagnostic to get it fixed. I was upset and brought it into another dealership to get fixed and mentioned again about the car jumping and afraid that I would be left on the side of the road or the engine would turn off again. They couldn't do anything without an engine light to be turned on. I'm afraid of driving my car but why am I paying for something that the dealership cannot fix or know that whatever they did wasn't fixing the problem? I have brought in my car time and time again to get seen or fixed before the major issue happened and now electrical parts of the car are faulty with things turning off randomly.
