general problems of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson

As I was pulling into a parking space in a parking garage, the vehicle's engine revved, tires squealed and then the vehicle propelled forward on its own, without my foot being on the accelerator. The vehicle only stopped when it hit a support column and the wall of the parking structure. There was extensive damage to my vehicle and to the parking structure wall. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk due to the car accelerating on its own. The problem has not been confirmed or reproduced by the dealer, but we did take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and they said they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle that would have caused the unintended acceleration. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer, the insurance company and an investigator for Hyundai. Hyundai infomed us that they are not taking any responsibility for anything that occurred and that they will not share their investigator's report with us. There were no warming lamps or messages related to the problem prior to the failure. However, there have been other occasions while driving on the open road when the engine has revved on its own and I told Hyundai about that. In doing our own research, we have found that there are other 2023 Hyundai Tucson drivers who have had this exact same problem (unintended acceleration causing a crash) while pulling into parking spaces. Additionally, the air bags did not deploy during the collision and therefore the incident was not recorded by the edr.

As I was parking my car in a parking spot going about 5 miles or less. My car surged forward at a very accelerated speed, and I ended up running into a brushed and a metal fence, which is what stopped me. There were no warnings that went off on my car. No emergency brakes, nothing.

My 2023 Hyundai tuscon has 36000 miles. Started running rough with a slight noise. First noticed on wed [xxx]. On Thursday [xxx] I went to start my car and it stalled. Finally after letting it sit a few minutes it started but only to have the sgi light flash yellow and stay yellow for the remainder of the drive. That day I made an appt at my local Hyundai dealership in brandon florida. They kept my car. Fast forward, Monday September 15th I was notified that the car had lost a significant amount of oil. Car was inspected and free of any leaks. Tech stated because of the low oil & oil pressure the battery life was significantly impacted. I would need an oil change & new battery. Upon arriving back I came across an article stating that excessive oil consumption is common among these vehicles and the dealer wasn't even going to notify me of this issue. They were not honest and I want to file a formal complaint knowing that this is well known issue. I feel unsafe driving my children around and am upset that a recall has not been issued to fix this. For the second time in a year, I was pulling into a parking space and when I applied the brake, the car accelerated, seemed to be airborne and lurched forward. Though I firmly had my foot on the break, it would not stop until it hit a brick post about three feet away. This exact same scenario happened in July of last year. Then, I hit a stand of shrubs. Someone said, your foot must have slipped off the break and hit the accelerator. I said, “I don’t think so. ” yet, I took the blame for the accident, for I could not believe it was a car malfunction, nothing close to this had happened to me since I owned the car. Everything was the same in the last crash as in the first. This time, as soon as the car accelerated, I checked, and my foot was firmly on the break. There is definitely a malfunction in the car. The black. Box should be recovered and read by someone not associated with Hyundai. I checked on Hyundai Tucson owners’ group on facebook, and my incident has been reported by others.

2023 Hyundai Tucson with just over 14,000 miles failed to accelerate. After completing a right turn the vehicle seemed like it went into neutral. A green warning light appeared stating limit 20 mph. I now know this is “limp mode”. Turning the vehicle off and back on seemed to resolve the issue. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. They found nothing wrong. I was told to take a picture of the warning next time. I was fortunate to not have caused an accident. This is incredibly dangerous.

1. Sometimes vehicle does not start. Only starts if battery reset button pushed. 2. Sometimes vehicle while moving has delayed braking after juddering. Only stops when car stopped and restarted. 3. Sometimes vehicle while moving suddenly revs, rpms spike until car stopped and restarted. Engine revs but does not shoot forward. 4. Spookiest of all, while moving car suddenly stops accelerating. Pedal on the floor and it is coasting to a stop. When car stopped, and turned off, then it will work. Had we been on the interstate we would have died, these incidents were sporadic and occurred on and off during the month of April and may. Each of the above occurred numerous times to different drivers. Service at two locations were unable to id. We sold the moving death trap to one of the Hyundai dealers who could find no mechanical problems with the vehicle. The vehicle was terrifying to drive. There are other reports on this vehicle of these issues . . . Which appear to be electronic. Hyundai has good engineers. They know what is causing this and simply do not want to replace a very expensive but obviously failing electronic control module.

As I was (very slowly) pulling into a parking place at a park near my home and I was braking to come to a full stop, the car suddenly lurched forward, jumped the parking place barrier, and hit a tree. The front end of the car was badly damaged and the airbag opened. I sustained injuries to my left hand and my chest, though nothing was broken. The car was towed to a body shop, where it has been declared not reparable. Photos of the car at the scene are attached. This accident seems to be consistent with reports/recalls of the Hyundai elantra of unintended acceleration when releasing the brake. We did talk to police shortly after the accident but we are unsure if they filed a report.

Attempted to make right turn onto busy road. Tried to accelerate to move with the traffic, when the car would not go any faster then 20mph. Could hear cars braking behind me. Pulled over to the side. Message appeared on speedometer, " limit 20mph" with green speedometer. Shut the car off tried to find problem in the manual. Didnt find anything. Turned car back on, it ran normal. Took it to Hyundai, fort myers, appointment, on 08/28/24. They diagnosed it as : "driver assist speed setting was turned on inside settings. Turned off setting, performed a dtc code scanning with no dtcs in any system. Attached stui photos, performed a 2 mile test drive with no further issues". I can only hope that the problem is solved. I do not recall turning on anything like, and wouldn't know how to, but I guess it is possible. Wanted to notify the NHTSA, in case there are other owners experiencing the same issue. On [xxx] around [xxx] pm two barnes county sheriff’s deputies responded to a reckless driving complaint. The reckless driving complaint started on [xxx] and later crashed around [xxx] near [xxx]. Barnes county sheriff randy mcclaflin said the reporting person, a [xxx] female, was also the driver of the reckless vehicle, a 2023 white Hyundai Tucson. Of fargo contacted the barnes county dispatch center and reported her gas pedal was stuck and the vehicle she was driving was traveling at speeds of over 90 miles per hour. Made multiple attempts to shut the vehicle off, place it in neutral/park and brake however, those attempts failed. One barnes county sheriff’s deputy was able to position his patrol vehicle in front of vehicle while the other barnes county sheriff’s deputy was able to position her patrol vehicle behind both deputies communicated with through a barnes county dispatcher while they attempted to disable vehicle. At one-point was able to slow her vehicle enough that she decided she could enter the median and use the cable barriers to stop the runaway vehicle before it struck a slow-moving vehicle ahead of the lead deputy. Entered the median and struck the cable barrier with the side of her vehicle. The vehicle became disabled. Was uninjured and was taken to mercy hospital by sheriff’s deputies. The north dakota highway patrol will be investigating the crash. Sheriff mcclaflin said kept as calm as can be expected and due to her quick thinking, she was able to avoid causing any injuries to others on the roadway. After stopped at a red light, the light turned green and the car slipped into neutral when stepping on the gas pedal. The gear was not shifted and the controls still displayed “d” both on the dashboard and the gear selector. This happened twice 5 days apart from each other. This car has an automatic transmission and the automatic engine shut off was on.

When pulling out of my driveway onto street, I lost acceleration. My vehicle would not go oer 35 mph and the rpms were revving up too 5000 without speed moving. I tried changing the drive mode to fix it, that did not help. I pulled over,s topped the car and restarted and all seemed normal. This has happened 2 other times since I bought the car. The other 2 times was while I was on the interstate the engine stopped engaging and I could not accelerate. Both times the issue corrected itself by the time I could get safely out of traffic. This is a major accident concern as there is no warning before this happens.

Our 2023 Hyundai Tucson hybrid developed an issue with the forward radar. At speed, the car produces a warning ding and then a warning message is displayed stating, "critical forward safety functions are limited. Radar blocked. " if the adaptive cruise control is engaged at the time of the warning, it immediately disengages, forcing the driver to quickly respond. If there is a vehicle in the adjacent lane to the right, the automatic braking may at times activate. It happens rain or shine, in good or inclement weather. We have cleaned the areas of the sensors without effect. One dealership has evaluated the vehicle twice and a second dealership once but we have been informed that there was no defect identified. I believe this issue to be a serious safety defect.

On four occasions in the last five weeks, I have been driving at relatively low speed (20-30 mph), and when I attempt to accelerate, the vehicle will not accelerate when I press the gas pedal. The tachometer shows the rpms are maxed out, but the vehicle does not accelerate no matter how hard I press the gas pedal. I have to pull off the road, turn off the vehicle, and restart to fix it. I am certain I have not accidentally hit any buttons or switches each time. I have tried changing drive modes (eco/normal/sport) and using the paddle shifters and that has no effect. Cruise control is off, and no other speed limiting system is activated. There are no warning lights or indicators when this occurs. This is incredibly dangerous, as I am unable to get up to speed on a main road. A few instances led me to be unable to successfully merge onto a main road, which has led to me almost being rear-ended on one occasion, and the most recent instance I was in the left lane of a main road and attempting to pass a large truck and could not maintain speed. I was fortunate to come upon a slight downhill slope and was able to coast across the right lane and get off the road, but it was a near-accident. The dealer service center was unable to diagnose the issue, and therefore could not repair it.

This Hyundai Tucson was 3 months old when the transmission started to shudder and miss gears. I immediately took it in to ken garff Hyundai and the service advisor drove the car and said nothing is wrong with the car and that the transmission needs to break in and sent me on my way. The Tucson did it again while in traffic and the vehicle would not go and I had to put my hazard lights on and let the car struggle in changing gears to get it off the road. The car was towed in to peoria larry miller Hyundai and this was documented by that dealership of the car shuddering and that they thought it was from my insurance plug in device. I explained that the car did it before the plug in. I removed the plug in device and the car continued to shudder. On February 13th while backing out of my garage the car began to shudder while in reverse and I continued down the road while the transmission refused to change gears. It almost sounded aa if the car was in neutral and the car would on go no more than 3mp. I had the gas pedal floored and the car would not go. I reparked the car back at my home and called Hyundai for a tow. The tow came and the tow driver stated that the seemed as if it is in neutral as he drove it up on to the tow truck. After getting the vehicle to the dealership I was told from the service advisor that this is an ongoing problem with Hyundai's dual clutch transmission and this sounds like the problem.

I was driving at normal speed and all of a sudden the vehicle accelerated to a high speed. Took to dealer with all the other issues and they could not create the problem. They are trying to blame it on me for have two sets of mats. Also navigation unit is not the correct unit in car. When I apply the brake to stop it seems as if the frame is creaking.

Vehicle randomly keeps accelerating past the set speed when cruise control is set. Problem was first noticed in March. Have a video of the cruise set at 69 mph and the vehicle continued to accelerate to 87 mph before I disengaged it. Vehicle has been to two different Hyundai dealers for the issue but were unable to duplicate or find the issue. One moth ago were on a road trip and the cruise would accelerate to 8-10mph over the set speed on the cruise control especially after cresting a hill ,then the adaptive cruise control would brake hard when approaching another vehicle. 0.

I leased my 2023 Hyundai Tucson from your authorized dealership south shore Hyundai in NY March 18,2003. I received the vehicle with 34 miles on the digital odometer at approximately 1750 eastern standard time. At approximately 2030 eastern standard time with the vehicle at 62 mile on the digital odometer. I was driving with my family, which is made up of my wife, daughter 22yrs old and son 14 years old on the wantagh parkway south approximately location 40. 740739,-73. 544842 at the speed limit of 55 mph. I began to hear knocking noise from the front of the vehicle that progressively got louder. Then immediately the check engine, brake, oil, key with car, battery, open doors, every light that the dashboard has came on. Immediately the whole vehicle lost power and I could no longer accelerate. The steering wheel got stiff and the vehicle had no response to brakes. The vehicle started stuttering. The engine died, rpms at 0 and no response on the accelerator, brakes and steering. The vehicle would not start. I tried push start several times start the vehicle, remote start, app start and putting the remote close to the push start with no results. I felt helpless and in a very dangerous situation that this brand new Hyundai vehicle put my family and me in. My family’s life was at the mercy of a 62 mile brand new 2023 Hyundai Tucson sel that I received less than 2 and half hours ago from a certified dealership south shore Hyundai in NY. We were stuck in the left lane in the middle of the wantagh parkway south bound with nowhere to go with the median divider to my left and to the right it was a fully active lane of on coming traffic in order to reach the safety of the shoulder. My family and I had to cross a full active lane of on coming traffic to get to the shoulder safely. We were able to get to the shoulder safely. The safety hazards presented by this vehicle created is dangerous to America families. Brand new vehicle should not suddenly shut off. Put the public in danger.

I leased this SUV 12/22/2023,upon driving it on 12/26 as I exited a major highway,leaving highway amd entering exit ramp the SUV lost brake funcrion as well as transmission function,absolute total loss of both brake and transmission systems,miraculously I was able to coast to safty with assistance from another motorist holding the car from rolling furthermore,needless to say this was a harrowing and dangerously close to a tragic accident due to this compmete failure of brake and transmission simultaneously failing,I had to incur a costly towing fee and also completely uninformed as to what the root/cause of problem was as well as any timeframe of repair,as of the time of myself writing this message and thirty plus days later ,I have recieved zero cooperation and even outwardly standoffish behavior towards myself,my hisband and my personal leasing agent,I am very concerned of the loaner car becoming a financial burden as my husband was forced to basically suffer rentl vetting and credit card deposit protocols upon paying for and delivering the damaged SUV,we have for weeks tried to ascertain any information on the extent and cause of damage to leased SUV as we are not intrested in recieving original damaged because we are fearful of our safety as we are still uninformed as of 1/31/2023 please note local police were on the scene and confirmed total breakdown status/tow needed status.
