1 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2026

I was driving along a 40 mile an hour road and there was a fork in the road and a car in the opposite lane waiting to turn onto that fork to the right and the car just slammed on the brakes and I was injured very badly. My neck back and hips are hurt very bad.

2 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2026

Forward collision assist is dangerous. It engages when not necessary and has almost caused several wrecks by slamming on the brakes. There needs to be a way to permanently disable and not have to pick through a series of menus every time. Also, lately I feel like I’m fighting the lane keep assist when I’m on the highway, and it tries to move when not necessary.

3 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2026

3 incidents of same braking component. Once while exiting a parking lot, the car slams breaks so hard while accelerating that car slams to hard stop with no warning. Once while driving through an intersection brakes engaged for no reason. Once after stopping at red light, then when moving with traffic, car stops so hard with no warning that we were almost rear ended and seat belt left marks and bottom of car seemed to hit the ground. These violent automatic breaking events are scary because for no reason or cause and no warning the car suddenly hard brakes. Fear of being rear ended or car flipping from such sudden and hard breaking. This incident has not been inspected although the car is current on all maintenance and has been recently in to car dealer for oil change.

4 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2026

My car abruptly stopped due to the emergency braking system when the car in front of me braked (hard) but I had more than enough time to stop without having the emergency braking system engaged. Due to this, the car behind me hit me from behind damaging my bumper, trunk, and back lights.

5 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2026

The forward emergency braking system on this vehicle is a hazard not a safety feature. I have almost been rear ended 3 times because of it and have had my neck and back hurt from the quick sudden stop! I was not even at risk of getting into an accident! this feature needs to be permanently disabled! I still owe 30 payments on this car but will be getting rid of it if I can't disable this permanently.

6 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2026

The fca engages in situations that are not dangerous. There is a slamming of the breaks which causes items in the car to fly off the seat and nearly cause the cars behind me to rear end the car. This is a dangerous situation and has happened about 6 times since we purchased the car less than six months ago. There is not a way to permanently disable this supposed safety feature.

7 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2026

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? automatic braking system brakes for no reason when I am not near any cars traveling at high speed or even when I am already at a complete stop or moving very slowly but not anywhere near hitting the car in front of me. This has happened multiple times since I leased this car in July 2025 and it seems to be getting worse. I had a 45 min drive home today and it happened about 7 times all for no reason. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? it slams on the brakes unnecessarily and the cars behind me almost rear end me. This has happened on residential roads and highways. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I just called to take it in. They seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? not yet but I am taking it in ASAP were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? none.

8 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2026

I was on the freeway about 2 minutes and the car flashed a red warning then slammed on the brakes and I flew forward. No cruise control and no buttons hit or anything automatic. Another time,  I was merging to freeway on ramp (with 2 lanes merging and going to freeway). I was on the left right lane towards the on ramp and another car came speeding next to me on other the on ramp right lane. All of a sudden, my Tucson says emergency braking for about 1 to 3 seconds.  slamps the brakes. I am not sure if the other speeding car made a sensor think I was going to merge into him,or him into me, or the sensors didn't detect the lane markings. It's my daily route to this ramp and it has not occurred in the past. These emergency braking incident has happened several times (4-5 times in a month) to me, usually during a highway drive similar to those above. I have to turn off the forward collsion to stop this happening and it comes back on everytime when the car starts from a off.

9 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2026

This incident occured in the woodlands, texas, about a 45 min drive north of my home. I was headed south on [xxx] . I had pulled into a left turn lane at the intersection of [xxx] . After the oncoming traffic had cleared, I proceeded to make a left turn onto [xxx] . My Hyundai Tucson slammed on the brakes just as I entered the oncoming lane. The fca was off. I was able to hit the gas and start moving forward again before any oncoming traffic got to this intersetion. There was no warning before the brakes were applied. Note, the fca safety function was absolutely positively turned off. We have gotten into the habit of turning it off to avoid these unintended, unexpected sudden complete stops. Now I'm concerned the fca system has more problems than just being overly senstive or malfunctioning causing numerous sudden braking issues. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2026

I was stopped behind another car in a through-lane in the parking lot at marshall's. I was fully stopped about 1 car length behind another stopped car. I decided to make a left turn (from my stopped position) into a perpendicular through-lane in the same parking lot. Just after I drove my entire car to the left of the parked car, my Hyundai Tucson slammed on the breaks. There were no cars coming toward me in the oncoming through-lane. There were no cars in front of me or coming toward me in the perpendicular through-lane. The fca was off. Again, I don't understand why the car is appying the brakes while I'm going forward if the fca is off.

11 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2026

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection? the forward collision avoidance (fca) system malfunctioned. The front camera system appears to have triggered unintended hard braking beyond normal driver input. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was safety put at risk? while approaching a vehicle in front of me, I was gradually slowing down and applying the brakes normally. Without warning, the vehicle suddenly applied significantly stronger braking than intended. This abrupt and excessive braking caused the vehicle behind me to collide with my car, creating a dangerous situation and increasing the risk of injury. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? unknown. The issue has not been reproduced since the accident, and it has not yet been confirmed by a dealer. However, the incident is consistent with Hyundai recall NHTSA campaign number 26v316000, which describes unexpected and premature activation of the forward collision avoidance system. Has the vehicle been inspected? the vehicle has been inspected by insurance representatives following the accident. It has not yet been inspected by Hyundai or a dealership specifically for this recall-related issue. Were there any warning signs before the failure? there were no warning lights, alerts, or messages prior to the sudden braking event. The braking intervention occurred without advance notice. Additional description of incident: at the time of the incident, I was approaching a vehicle ahead and applying the brakes gradually under normal driving conditions. The vehicle then suddenly applied much stronger braking than expected, consistent with automatic emergency braking intervention. This abrupt deceleration caused the vehicle behind me to rear-end my car. This behavior matches the defect described in Hyundai recall 26v316000, where the forward collision avoidance system may activate unexpectedly and apply excessive braking.

12 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2026

The forward collision assist system applies hard braking when there is no danger. This happened twice today at low speeds (1-2mph) once in a drive through and once in traffic in a parking lot. Luckily, the truck behind me did not rear end me. My concern is what if it starts doing this at higher speeds? I feel it is dangerous.

14 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2026

As of today, March 17, 2026 , my 2025 Hyundai Tucson keeps having safety issues. On March 8th , 11th, 14th and 25th the car once again shut down mid-drive. This issue occurred last month as well but dealership claims no dtcs were found. I am noticing that the forward collision warning comes on without any cars or objects in front periodically since the purchase of my car. The light will remain on for a few seconds and disappear. The automatic brake system seems to be causing issues as well which I believe causes the car to shut off completely mid-drive. Once the car shuts off the panel lights turn on to include the engine light, but then after a few seconds I able to change gears back to park in order to turn car back on and continue driving. This has happened now several times since last month. However, I have had issues with my brand new vehicle since I purchased it last year. My car remained in the dealership for 3 months last year due to an engine, ac and power train issues. Prior to the car shutting off, no actual warning lights illuminate other than the forward collision warning light and the notification of headlights are turned off even though it’s daylight and headlights do not need to be turned on . Periodically and intermittently an alert about consider taking a coffee break alert has also popped up in the past. It seems Hyundai has a severe issue with the fca operating system and over 100 complaints have been made about this vehicle nationwide and no recalls have been issued. I am afraid for my life and the life of others on the road as this car should not be stopping and shutting off while driving for no apparent reason.

15 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2026

I rented this vehicle for 5 days. In those 5 days, twice while driving on the highway (at 5-10 mph under the posted speed limit due to heavy traffic, dry and clear weather), I found it necessary to brake hard due to other vehicle traffic braking hard in front of me. When I had slowed down sufficiently and felt I had sufficient space between my vehicle and the one in front of me, I let off the brake pedal, but the "forward safety" feature continued to brake until the vehicle came to a complete stop nearly causing the vehicle behind me to hit my vehicle. To be clear, no accident occurred, but in one of those instanced the vehicle behind me was within ~1ft of hitting my rear bumper. Had the vehicle behind me not been able to stop in time, there would have been an accident, and because the brakes were locked by the computer, I could not have done anything to prevent it. After the second incident (on 2-15-2026), I looked through the vehicle setup information and found it is possible to disable the "forward safety" feature to prevent additional incidents, however, that setting can only be changed then the vehicle is stationary, and it automatically turns back on every time you start the vehicle.

16 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2026

Driving south on a busy 4 lane divided city street, as I approaching an interestion I initiated a right had turn with about 1 car length gap in front of me. I was driving about 5 mph. The car suddently applied the brakes to a full stop. The car behind was able to stop in time and not hit me. There was no risk of me hitting the car in front of me.

17 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2026

The automatic braking that happens when the car sensor thinks you are too close to another car is dangerous. This has happened to me three different times when there were cars in front of me turning right. There was plenty of room and the car was turning so I was following, and it not only slams on the brake and makes you stop, but then it takes it a minute to reset before you can move again which then can slow traffic. I was almost rear ended two of these times. It is unsafe. You can manually turn it off, but you have to re set it every time you get in the car. I have seen many complaints about this occurring and causing people whiplash as well due to the sudden stopping on Hyundai sites.

18 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2026

The driver attention warning is not disabled, even when doing exactly that in settings. This is incredibly annoying and distracting and is a major reason I cannot recommend this car to others.

19 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2025

The car in front of me, 8 to 10 feet ahead, slow down and turn on their blinker. My car slammed so hard on its break. It threw me and my dog forward. It never gave us a warning until it slammed. There was plenty of time for me to slow down, but also the car was partially already in the turn lane. There is then 223 seconds where my car will not move forward. I am a sitting duck to cars coming behind me.

20 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2025

I was travelling east in the left kane on the southern state parkway in long island, NY. The car in fron of me stopped short. I had plenty of time to slow down, then my car brakes locked up and I was almost rearended. Fortunately the driver behind me was alert and moved to the shoulder to avoid contact.

21 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2025

Multiple times the car has locked the brakes when there was a car several car lengths in front of me. This has resulted in me nearly being rear ended three different times. The force of the stop has also caused me to have neck and back pain. This is u safe and will result in injuries. There are many reports about this on reddit.

22 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2025

I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I’ve had multiple incidents where the forward collision-avoidance system applied sudden hard braking when it wasn’t necessary, creating dangerous situations. I don't think I will be fortunate every time. I believe there is a serious issue with how the Hyundai's fca system is operating and it needs to be investigated as a priority. Currently I am driving with it turned off every time I start the car. On my research I found this issue has been reported by multiple other drivers as well and I don't see any acknowledgement or reference from Hyundai on this so far.

23 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2025

I was exiting a freeway a unusually slow speed as it was very congested, making a right hand exit. While I was in the curve of the exit ramp, the car suddently applied the brakes to a full stop. There was a car in front of me but we were going the same speed. Fortunately, the car behind me was able to stop in time and not hit me. There was no risk of me hitting the car in front of me.

24 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

The front end collision avoidance “feature” slammed on my brakes so hard today, for zero reason. I was already braking, going less than 20mph and had plenty of room. This is not the first time, closer to double digits since I purchase in April. This time the car behind me narrowly avoided hitting me which was made worse as my vehicle takes too long to unlock and allow me to begin driving again. This is going to cause an accident and ruin my tires/brakes costing me money.

25 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2025

The forward collision-avoidance assist (fca) is braking aggressively without a valid hazard, creating a serious rear-end collision risk. Incident 1 (405 freeway, approx. 60 mph) : a vehicle legally changed into my lane with safe separation. The fca system detected this as a collision risk and applied hard braking on the freeway. Following traffic had to brake abruptly and I narrowly avoided being rear-ended. Incident 2 (intersection u-turn, 15 mph): while completing a permitted u-turn on a green light, the fca detected a distant cross-traffic vehicle and suddenly braked in the intersection, leaving me stopped in an unsafe position. I set fca sensitivity to the minimum/“late” setting after the first event. The false hard-braking continues. Hyundai dealership [anaheim Hyundai] states “no issue found. ” this behavior is repeatable and unsafe. I request investigation into false positives and unintended hard braking, a software remedy, and guidance to disable automatic braking until fixed (warning-only) if permitted by Hyundai. Currently even if it is disabled it resets after the SUV is turned off. I realized there are multiple threads on reddit on the same issue for tuscon 2025 models with some of them resulting in accidents. . Read more...

26 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2025

Fca system slammed brakes all the way to a complete stop in middle of traffic for no reason. Car in front was slowing down, and I was already braking at more than a safe distance. This is completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous. There needs to be a way to permanently disable this overkill feature that creates way worse problems than it is supposed to solve. There are numerous complaints about this issue from other owners of this model, please help!.

27 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2025

Blindspot detection did not pick up car on my right side two times. Front collision warning is effected by the angle of the sun at certain times of the day. Dashboard dims randomly. Could be for a minute or much longer. Could dim on and off, or stay dimmed for over twenty minutes. Brought the car in twice for this problem. Claimed nothing found and tech reset the codes. Bought it in two weeks later, stating problem not fixed. Told them to check connection, suggested they might want to replace the cables, and its a known problem. Again, reset the codes. Only this time they fiddled with the dimmer control on the console and I can no longer adjust the setting.

28 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2025

11/2/2025- the forward collision warning and the automatic emergency braking system engaged and brought my vehicle to a complete stop in the middle of the road when there was no imminent danger of a forward collision occurring. My vehicle was rear ended by the vehicle behind me as a result of the sudden and complete braking of my vehicle. This same incident happened a few days before this collision, but there was no vehicle behind my vehicle, so no rear end accident happened at that time. 12/1/2026- vehicle inspected at jim click Hyundai regarding the sudden stopping of the vehicle. Jim click determined a fault code front camera blockage. Dealer said they cleared the code and the problem should not return. On or around 12/8/2025 the 2025 Hyundai again had the front collision avoidance system randomly setting off alarms when the vehicle was driving on the freeway and other vehicles were traveling alongside the 2025 Hyundai. There was no emergency braking occurring at this time. 12/9/2025- the 2025 Hyundai returned to jim click Hyundai and at that time the dealer determined the front camera was showing an obstruction when none was there. They replaced the front camera with a new camera. 12/28/2025- the same problem of the front collision avoidance system and the automatic emergency braking engaged again, even though there was a new front camera installed on the vehicle. The 2025 Hyundai vehicle came to a complete stop in traffic. The vehicle ahead 2+ car lengths ahead swerved from the left lane to the right lane to avoid a box in the road. Driver of the 2025 Hyundai was applying the brakes when the 2025 Hyundai emergency braking system took over and the 2025 Hyundai came to a complete stop in traffic when there was no need for this. 1/2/26- 2025 Hyundai returned to jim click Hyundai and remains there while the service dep't is driving the vehicle trying to diagnose the cause of the continued emergency braking problem.

29 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2025

While driving a 2025 Hyundai Tucson rental vehicle (VIN: [xxx] ), I experienced a sudden and unintended acceleration, and the steering appeared to turn without input. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree on a local street two blocks from my residence. The result was the wheel was popped off of it's axel and deflated immediately. Two days prior, I experienced a similar event in the same vehicle — sudden acceleration and braking hard making a loud braking noise. I suspect a mechanical or electronic malfunction. No warning or sensors were alerting me that this would happen. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

30 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2025

In October 2025, the center display screen in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson hybrid began shutting off repeatedly while the vehicle was in motion. The screen controls essential functions including speed information, navigation, backup camera, safety alerts, and hybrid system data. When it shuts off, all of these features become unavailable without warning. The failure is intermittent and continues to reoccur. The component involved is the center display/infotainment system and may affect related radar and safety-system warnings. The dealer stated they duplicated the issue and reported that it was repaired, but the same display failure occurred again afterward while I was driving. The vehicle is currently with the dealer and is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others is put at risk because when the screen shuts off, I lose access to critical vehicle information. This has happened at highway speeds, including one instance where the display shut off approximately eight times within 20 minutes. In addition, the radar warning system has activated when no nearby vehicles were present, creating distraction and uncertainty. The problem has been reproduced by the dealership, documented by me on video, and reported to the manufacturer. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Hyundai service center and reviewed by the manufacturer’s customer service department. There have been no police or insurance inspections because the defect has not resulted in a crash, though the safety risk is significant. Warning symptoms include intermittent radar system alerts appearing without surrounding traffic. These symptoms began in October 2025 and have continued even after dealer repairs. The display failure persists and the vehicle remains unsafe to operate. P. S. I cannot upload video evidence as the website would not allow me and I have to start over.

31 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2025

The car breaks itself so abruptly when there is no real danger. This has almost caused for me to be rear ended on multiple occasions. Especially scary on the freeway. The forward collision warning is set to "late," and it still causes a huge jolt.

32 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2025

My 2025 Tucson hybrid violently stopped in mid traffic while leaving the intersection once the signal turned green to proceed. I accelerated getting to speed limit then it abruptly stopped, violently throwing contents from back seat to the forward cabin. Both, myself the driver and my passenger were jolted violently. The school bus behind me had to stop quickly as we were just getting up to speed from a stop light. The vehicle is brand new, 2024 miles on it. Tucson nline hybrid with all the safety features turned on. I called the dealer and service rep which both instructed to turn off the fcs forward collision system setting. I did but this shouldn't be happening and will cause bodily harm/damage, and possible death is a specific situation. This abrupt stop was jarring to both people in the car.

33 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2025

The forward collision system suddenly slammed the brakes hard to a full stop. This has happened multiple times in situations where there was no real danger(still safe distance with the car in front). I was fully in control, and there were no obstacles or sudden movements from other vehicles. Both times there was a car right behind me, and I was just lucky they didn’t hit me because they swerved into the shoulder. After the first 2 times, I mentioned it to the dealership and asked if there was any way to turn down the sensitivity so it didn't cause an accident and he said it's either all or nothing (which also isn't safe in case of real emergency). He recommended I file a complaint. I should also mention that I owned the 2022 Hyundai Tucson prior to this car for 4 years and never once had this occur. I did have it activate the front collision warning, but it never came to a full stop and allowed the driver to make the correct decision for the situation.

34 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2025

Forward collision warning automatic braking caused car behind me to rear-end me. This is the first accident but third time the automatic braking unnecessarily caused an issue. The car in front of me was far enough away that it did not require an auto-brake.

35 Warnings problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2025

I have had two incidents with this vehicle (that I have owned for less than 90 days) that have raised safety concerns. Both involved the loss of all information on the "instrument panel" aka dashboard. In the first (August 18, 2025), all of the warning lights came on, then the screen went dark - there was no information on the two screens and no head's up display. This happened while I was on the highway doing about 65 mph. After I was able to pull over safely, it took several attempts to get the vehicle started again and in gear. I took it to the dealer the next day and they were unable to replicate the issue and saw no codes. The second episode occurred yesterday (9/6/25). This time the screen went dark except for a large red warning "no signal". The screen came back after a few moments; I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Both of these involved losing all information as to the speed of the vehicle - which I believe is a safety issue. Both of these issues have also been reported by others on facebook ("Hyundai owners") since late last year and it appears to be some sort of electrical issue but there has been no TSB or recall by Hyundai yet.
