I bought my car may 2016 it had an odd smell once I started using my ac unit but couldn't figure it out. In August I lost level 1 and 2 on my blower knob, and in October 2018 I lost all heat and the blower knob no longer worked. I oreder an oem dash control unit and had a CO-worker install it for me. Sept. 2019 I again lost level 1 and 2 of the fan blower. I contacted the supplier and was told this is only under warranty if it was installed at a certified shop and only if I put on 12k miles and under 1 year. I wasn't able to use my warranty due to I had my CO-worker in stall. Feb 14th 2020 remote started my car as it is very cold in WI. When I got to my car I thought it was on fire due to the smell inside my car. I saw no smoke or flames. I drove home from work and the smell was horrible I had to crack the window it was so strong and drove in the slow lane in case my car burst in to flames so I could get out. Feb. 16th my while driving my car the smell of burning plastic was overwhelming and then suddenly I lost total heat and the knob for the blower no longer worked. Feb. 17th I bought another heater from the same oem online store. I brought it to work when it arrived on the 20th. The same c-worker went to install it and he said he wouldn't install it because he didn't want me to die from my car starting on fire as the cable harness connector is melted. I launched a complaint with Hyundai the same day. I was given a case number and told to wait to hear back within 24 hours due to the fire issue/safety concern. I did hear from roberta from corporate and I went over the details, she said they would pay for towing and car rental. I took my car in to a Hyundai dealership and am being told that I have to pay $136 because they need to rule out that it's not my remote starter causing the issue that I had installed at best buy. This is a known issue of that component melting.
