I took my car to gilroy Hyundai November 11, 2025 at 10:30 a. M. Because my engine was not running normal, it shook lightly while driving at an incline and the engine light would not shut off. They charged me $284. 99 to tell me what needed to be fixed, engine was not looked per ernesto garcia. Ernest told me they go by mileage, not actually checking the engine. He also stated that the mechanic drove it and it was fine. December 28, I was driving from chico, CA back home to morgan hill, CA and the car shook and just died and left me on the side of highway 505 winters/san francisco. I had it towed to moorehead automotive in fairfield, CA and they said this car needs a new engine. I still owe 7,000. 00 on this car and have had trouble with both Hyundai and power (the additional insurance I purchased when I bought this car. ).
Excessive engine oil consumption causing fouled spark plugs engine stalling. Engine was replace due to defective rod bearings at 98 000 mile under warranty and recall. Engine now ha 130,000 miles piston rings have failed. Stalled on busy freeway almost causing mutual crash. I have an appointment at the Hyundai delership October 28th 2015. Hyundai replaced one defective engine with another.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who performed a tune-up on the vehicle. The contact stated that several days after the tune-up, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle hesitated and sounded as if the vehicle was going to stall. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine was losing pressure and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that before the vehicle had the tune-up, the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact had not noticed any oil stains on the ground. The check engine light was occasionally illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Veloster. After leaving the local dealer for a recall repair, the contact stated that after driving for five miles at 30-40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to shift into gear. The vehicle sat for two hours, and when restarted, it was able to roll to her place of employment and drive to her residence. The contact was able to determine if there were warning lights illuminated. The contact called the dealer, who informed the contact about towing and diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 176,000.
Abs, eps, check engine light appeared on dashboard then car’s steering wheel stiffed and car lost power. Vehicle’s hood smells burnt and has fumes come out after driving for 10-20minutes. My safety and my family’s was endangered as this happened while driving on the road. Not at a stop sign or a red traffic light but while driving. The dealer has refused to inspect/address the issue without having me paid close to $2,500. 00 for other repairs.
Motor started knocking yesterday 4/8/25 which was immediately followed by multiple dash sensors for oil and battery. As I pulled over to get assistance at a jiffy lube, the car stalled and wasn’t drivable but they also confirmed that the car should not be driven for risk of blowing the engine. Will be taking my vehicle in for an evaluation as soon as I am able to get it towed for further inspection and diagnostics.
I have a recall on the Hyundai 2015 Veloster for four years since the lawsuit that you told Hyundai corp to put lifetime warranty on defective cars thgey have done nothing to resolve the problem. My car again is broke down to oil around sparkplugs I went through the same problem in oct 2023 which they put a gasket on it and charge me 505. 00 dollars. Now they are making it hard to find a engine to replaced the manufactured defect engine in it. Debris in crankshaft and then sold which cause the connecting rod problem premature. I need my car and can't afford another please help me get this resolve.
Spontaneous rod knocking, hindered performance which in tern poor acceleration, which could become a safety risk especially when commuting on a freeway. High risk of motor vehicle accidents or could lead to a fatal incident if left stranded on major roadways and railroad crossings.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Veloster. The contact reported that oil was leaking out of the exhaust. The vehicle was sputtering and running rough while driving at various speeds, and hesitated while accelerating. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The dealer informed the contact that metal shavings were found in the oil pan during the oil change. The contact stated that the oxygen sensors and catalytic converter were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was contacted and advised the contact to return the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal knocking sound and smoke coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle then lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. An unknown warning light was flashing before the vehicle had lost power; however, there were no warning lights illuminated once the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure and had not provided the contact with a specific diagnostic report. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 20v746000 (engine), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 44,000.
My car 2015 hyundia Veloster has been under recall since 2021 for connecting rod failure in engine and oil leaking around spark plugs that could cause a fire plus what the other recall is. Hyundai corp refuses to repair my car, it has ksds, oil consumption, refuse to do engine inspection, wanting to charge me for items related to a recall. My car as stated with you before eating oil, poor compression stalls knock loses power I recently had to pay 3200. 00 for catalytic converters so I would have a car only to find out it could happen again due to recall number198. I need someone to help me get this resolve. Why should have to replace my engine when it under recall and you can't sell your car due to that? I have been fighting Hyundai corp for two years I had oil around my spark plugs in 2023, black spark plugs 2024.
This has happened on 4 different occasions. I'm on the highway and my speedometer slams to zero and everything involving the brakes lights up in my dash. The car continues to drive but it's pretty worrisome as I drive 70mph around alot of traffic. I have been able to pull over every time but it's still beyond unacceptable. I've had my Veloster a little under a year and I don't know if the other recall involving the motor being replaced was taken care of. It was a recall associated with my VIN. I have a video of it happening but for some reason I try to upload it on the app and it won't allow me to. It is the proper format.
My car is recall for connecting rod bearing failure Hyundai gave us a extended warranty for this 15 years or 150,00 miles plus I have 20 year 200,00 mile warranty too my engine has oil consumption a quart every 2- 3 weeks been in the Hyundai shop October 2023 for oil around spark plugs jerking engine trying to stall I had my car tow they did a tune up charge me for towing and spark plugs said it was part of engine failure. Next in 04/24 engine light came on compression has been getting worse over two years car tow was told catalytic converters were clogged which is not covered so there another bill on me which I think at 124 plus mileage was due to engine problems but Hyundai corp denied this of course. They want me to drive the car until the engine light flashes in middle of nowhere all I want is my recall engine fixed so I will feel safe in my car there was a lawsuit on the connecting rod bearing failure recently nothing has been done I can't afford another car at my age.
Nothing has been done for the recall engine, Hyundai recall 198 which states damage engine can increase the risk of fire or engine stall increasing the risk of a crash. Why is Hyundai selling cars that are recall for engines . As stated before oil consumption, jerks, no compression, going up hills is rough, cabin gets warmer than usual Hyundai corp told me that the clogged catalytic converters were no cause by engine failure is this correct I have to pay for them. I have the recall for the brakes finally making a appt can you help me my engine is getting worse I'm afraid to drive it.
I was on the highway and looked at my speedometer and the mph was at 0. The abs and the brake light warnings came on and I couldn't accelerate and hardly brake. I pulled to the shoulder immediately. Took a couple hundred feet to finally stop. It was a very scary moment thinking my brakes have gone. I put it in park waited a moment turned it off. . . Waited about 5 mins and it turned over just wanted to get it home.
I noticed the engine was losing oil constantly and the exhaust was emitting black smoke often, I had to refill the oil about once a month, eventually the car broke down and took it to a Hyundai dealership. They said they needed to perform a leakdown/compression test on the car, and $585 to perform a diagnostic. Then they said the leak down/compression test showed the exhaust valves had broken and they would need to do a long block replacement. Also mentioned they needed to have Hyundai allow them to release that long block as it is part of a recall on other vehicles. Later was told Hyundai did not approve it under the warranty.
15 warranty repairs with less than 60k mileage that were discovered for the vehicle’s history. To date I have replaced: catalytic converter (discovered this is a common issue with the vehicle) infotainment front struts rear shocks motor mounts driver side window motor (previously repaired by Hyundai replaced by Hyundai 1/7/2020 at 56k miles, malfunction a 2nd time) windshield wiper motor (previously repaired by Hyundai replaced by Hyundai 10/7/2019 at 54k miles, malfunction a 2nd time) a/c motor blower oxygen sensor fuel injectors (common issue) driver side/passenger side control arms windshield wiper hoses due to dry rot all 4 ignition coils battery leads.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle started to decelerate independently, and there was a ticking sound coming from the engine. The contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 20v746000 (engine). The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The recall repair was not performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
Engine runs too lean had t/b and104898 mass airflow and O2 sensors replaced less than a year ago still same problem also consuming too much oil,.
Hvac system has failed twice, upon inspecting, connections are melted. This is a fire risk. Fuses constantly blow. Check engine light constantly comes on and after having auto zone diagnose, issues include power train system (p2261), anti-lock brake system - wheel speed sensor (all 4) show invalid/no signal. Constant knocking noise under the engine which related to the rod bearing recall. This car is a fire and safety hazard waiting to happen. My outlets barely produce power, my lights flicker constantly, my battery has been replaced multiple times, as well as the hvac once.
The car I bought in February in a used car lot was, per the salesperson, in excellent condition, had recently done oil changes, and had allegedly no failures. After less than 3k miles, I got stalled on the freeway with a knocking noise; frank Hyundai mechanics diagnosed it with a cvv oil sensor red flag. I then paid for the repairs after getting denied from both my Hyundai warranty and my extended warranty. This was neglect when I drove that car for just a few months, like a weekend car, less than 3k miles. The car was still stalling on the freeway, shooting smoke, and the check engine light came on. I miraculously made it in one piece to work; however, the car had to be towed back to frank Hyundai, where, to this day, they still have not been able to repair or precisely diagnose my vehicle, so I have been without my vehicle for almost a month and a half. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with this problem; I think it's unfair to pay for the past owner's negligence.
Engine blinking and smell burnt while driving, abs button turn on automatically.
Engine had no oil, starting making a knocking noise.
99% sure the vehicle’s rod bearing is what is knocking.
Spun rod bearings. Noticed that was the issue with play in piston doing a screwdriver test and noticing thru under the oil pan before tear down. Had to pry the bearing off with pliers and hit with a screwdriver to remove. I have plenty of photos and videos.
Rattling noise is occurring when accelerating and on cold start. This has been occurring for quite some time.
Rod bearing in the fourth piston is failing and there is an existing TSB for this problem on this year (2015) of Veloster however Hyundai is saying that it doesn't cover this engine model so we are going to be out $7,000 for a new engine. Seems like the engine is the same only difference is the turbo so seems like this model should be part of the TSB as well. The problem has been confirmed by a mechanic at his shop c&c automotive in fayetteville ar.
Three times now my 2015 Veloster has been in the shop for the same issues. Loss of power while driving. They did software update first time. That was a year ago. It has been actiing sluggish since. Then two weeks ago my husband was driving it made a loud noise and the power went to limp mode and engine light came on. Took 4 hours for a tow truck to pick up him and my car. I took it to the shop again, they had it for almost 2 weeks. Told me the spark plugs were bad. They replaced them. That didn't help. Then they said the catalytic converter was bad. So they replaced that. I picked it up today 4/20/23 at 2:00pm. I then drove 7 miles from the shop and heard a loud noise and the power reduced to 20 mph I could not go any faster it was in limp mode and I crawled it back to the dealership. I told them I got an extended warranty 3 years ago and I got notified my car would need a new motor. They told me it would take a long time to get a motor and they were sure it was not my motor. I can't afford a tow truck bill again and I can't afford to keep fixing things it may not need they are just guessing. They told me it may take awhile this time because they have no idea what is wrong with it. But it was scary doing 45 mph with speed of traffic and just lose power. My husband was doing 65 mph when it happened to him. I have babied my car since new and I only have 60,000 miles on it. I hardly have broken it in. I don't know what to do now. I don't want this to happen and have and accident because of it or a fire. I have grandkids in my car with me and I don't feel safe anymore.
We purchased the vehicle in March 2022 and in may 2022 the engine light came on and there was knocking in the engine until finally the engine quit while driving. Upon inspection of the engine it appeared to have blown as there was oil all under the hood. The car was towed and serviced at a Hyundai dealer and I was told it needed a new engine. They put another engine in the car. We got the car back December 31, 2022 with the "new/used" engine and that night the engine overheated and had to be towed back to the dealer that did the repairs costing almost $10k. They repaired the engine again, saying that they put another engine in and we got the car back in late February 2023. April 2023 the car engine light came on again and the car began to smoke. My son had been driving, pulled into our driveway, popped the hood to see why it was smoking and the car then caught fire! my son could have been seriously hurt or even worse! the car has been inspected by our insurance company and is now claiming a total loss. I have since emailed the pictures of the car to the service manager at the dealer where the work was done and he is claiming that he can't tell by the pictures what caused the fire. This is the second engine they put in this car!.
At this time failure is unknown. The engine has a knocking noise. There 8s a current recal for the 2015 and 2016 Hyundai Velosters and im told my car does not qualify because the build date is two days before the recall dates.
Have a rod bearing that has worn prematurely, was told that there are recalls Hyundai recall 198 for this problem with other vehicles of this same year, make, and model but min was not included. Hyundai motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Veloster, 2012 santa fe, 2011-2013 sonata hybrid, and 2016 sonata hybrid vehicles. The connecting rod bearings inside the engine may wear prematurely, which over time can result in engine damage.
Check engine light has been coming on and off for over a year, either comes back negative and goes away on its own or I’m told there’s a plethora of problems that need to be fixed. It’s been on now for about a month and I’ve been told again it could be anything. There is a recall on this engine and I was never notified.
As I was turning off a main road into my neighborhood at night with little visibility for oncoming traffic, I lost power steering and the car began to shake. I was able to coast into my driveway. As I coasted into my driveway I noticed my engine, battery, and water light illuminated. Upon parking my car, I returned to where I lost my power steering found my damper pulley/crankshaft pulley and the crankshaft bolt in the middle of the street where I lost my power steering. I called the dealership and they took a look at it and are saying the entire engine needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Veloster. The contact received notification of the NHTSA campaign number 20v746000 (engine). The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the recall was repaired however, the contact stated that while accelerated at 70mph, the vehicle speed inadvertently decreased to 15 mph. The contact stated that the vehicle went into limp mode and the engine stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact’s residence then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.
Engine failure outside of normal warranty period. However oil consumption is the cause. Hyundai allows for 1quart of oil loss every 1000 miles. There should be no oil loss. Before I could get an oil consumption test my motor started knocking. The dealership was supposed ask for goodwill assistance but never did. They found no compression in cylinder 4 and stated since it wasn’t a rod bearing failure they would not cover it. Also they are using third party bbb to turn down complaints which should be a violation of the consumers rights. They are paid by Hyundai to reject claims.
