1 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2014 Hyundai Veloster

Failure Date: 06/18/2024

I purchased the 2014 Veloster turbo on December 21st 2013 at beaverton Hyundai in beaverton ore I was a new car priced at $23,373. 00. When driving the car it would die often when taking off after a stop. After some time I took it to the dealer and they told me I needed to give it more gas and baby the clutch. I have had it die in intersections and had a many near misses as I soon realized I never would know if it was going to die untill it did. This problem was never fixed. The instrument panel gave many false readings, I would like you to get the problems from the dealer, they said the replaced the computer at one point. I was notified in sept 2023 of the recall #251 for the abs brakes to this date there is no remedy. After 5 months of not being able to drive my car safely or park it in the garage, I ask for a rental car and a dealership who could keep my car safe untill the remedy was available. Whitnel Hyundai in salem or was the place to go. In March they said I could park in the lot and they gave me a loaner, rental paid for by Hyundai. I spoke to them in may and they still had no remedy. I ask them to let me know when the remedy was available and not to do anything to my car without my ok. I was told that I would by notified by mail when it was available. Today is June 18th 2024, I just checked the recall info on NHTSA site and it says, there is a remedy for some Hyundai cars but the Veloster and genesis will come later. And we will be notified. I am currently undergoing cancer treatment and am very busy with treatments. I am considering returning the car of theirs and picking up my car as I read on the NHTSA recall site that the remedy for most of the Hyundai cars is to put a fuse in to prevent a fire. As you know the abs system is in or under the engine the solution is a new engine not a fuse. My Veloster was built in korea and shipped here, and some parts form 2012 or 2013 could have been used in it.

2 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2015 Hyundai Veloster

Failure Date: 09/27/2023

My cars lights (headlights, gage cluster lights, dash lights, radio screen light, etc. . ) and screen for my radio and back up camera, all turn off by themselves, for maybe 1 second or 2, while driving. This happens randomly, no warning, no special conditions, just out of nowhere, and for no reasons. Since I bought the car in September of 2020 (used, as is) it has done it now 7 or 8 times, with tonight being the most recent occurrence. I don't know how to have it checked or verified by a technician because there's no forewarning before it happens. It's completely random and unexpected. It's very scary, especially with my children in the car.

The electrical system was faulty since day one. When a turn signal is on and you turn the steering wheel that direction the light will turn off. This is so dangerous. The speed is also very iffy every time you break.

6 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster

Failure Date: 12/12/2019

Shortly after I purchased the vehicle, used from carmax, the lighting on the steering wheel stopped turning on and would randomly come on while driving, usually after about 10-15 minutes and while turning. . It no longer comes on at all and none of the steering wheel buttons work anymore either, nor does my horn.

7 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster

Failure Date: 12/08/2019

The knob on to the ac and heat in the vehicle burned out and doesnt work. According to main websites, this issue happens alot and continues to be an issue for many even after it's been replaced.

8 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster

Failure Date: 11/04/2013

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster turbo has a torsion beam rear suspension that when combined with the factory 18" wheels and stock kumho solus tires gives the car very unpredictable and dangerous handling characteristics over bumps where the rear of the car feels like it is "stepping out. " after talking to 5 Hyundai dealerships and having them perform various alignment attempts and technical service bulletins for road force balancing to improve the problem, it was still not corrected and nearly resulted in numerous crashes in the 1st year off ownership. After so many attempts to fix the issue and not having it resolved and seeing numerous other reports of it on forums and other review sites, I am convinced that there is a concerted effort to hide the problem and have made the difficult decision to file this complaint. Even the Hyundai service manager who most recently drove my car said "I felt it and I don't know what to do about it. " this was after the factory technician at the same dealership felt the issue and said "it is a very light car so it will just do that" and when I replied that a same year Volkswagen jetta with the same rear suspension design did nothing of the sort and even another model in the Hyundai line (elantra) did not have the same issue, he didn't reply. Most dangerous of all is if a rear tire becomes deflated at all on a snowy or icy surface. In my situation an left rear tire went down a few pounds and the car swerved much more wildly than most other cars would a little low on air. I went a year without letting anyone else drive the car out of safety concerns until I finally put winter tires on it in 2014 in a 17" size and felt an immediate resolution to the issue (so far) with both improved grip and over the road/ bump response. The factory low beams are dangerously dim also, again numerous complaints at numerous Hyundai dealer(s) ignored.
