Wheel problem #1

The plating on the wheels is coming off causing a safty hazzard. The dealer will not do anything about it. Wheel could break apart causing a accident. Wheels are available for inspection upon request.

Wheel problem #2

Clear coat on the rims are fading and starting to dull. . . I only have 10k miles on the car and owned it for 3 months.

Wheel problem #3

During startup. When car is first ignition, while in neutral proceed to 1st gear an audible sound will be heard from right column and disappears. It will happen every start up sequence. I sent my car for service and they told me that it could be the electronic differential lock.

Wheel problem #4

Rear left caliper sticking when in reverse. Back left tire drags. Driving forward is fine, no issues. Start in March this year (2019). Not sure why this isn't part of the recall, as I've read several other complaints as well.

Wheel problem #5

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated while manually washing the vehicle, the contact observed that there was corrosion coming from under the paint of all four rims. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where all four rims were replaced with the manufacturer's original rims. The contact stated that the corrosion from under the paint looked like splotches and there was a clear coat that kept the corrosion from breaking through the surface. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the cause of the corrosion was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

Wheel problem #6

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. While driving approximately 60 mph, the front wheels seized and the electronic stability control indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to titus-will Hyundai (888-287-9396, located at 2255 carriage loop sw, olympia, wa 98502), but no failure was found. The contact called the manufacturer and the contact was placed on a five day waiting list. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000. The VIN was not provided.

Wheel problem #7

The Hyundai Veloster comes with very low profile tires and does not have a spare tire. The thin side walls on the low profile tires make them prone to blow out hitting very small pot holes. The 'inflator' that comes with the vehicle has never been usable for any of the 7 tire blow outs that have occurred in the last year or so of normal city driving, leading to frequent strandings and long tows. The nature of the tire failure means it is very dangerous at speed, the tires go from impact to being unable to drive in less than 30 seconds, leaving little room to get to safety. The combination of unsafe tires for anything but perfect road conditions and no spare and an absolutely ineffective tire repair system, poses a significant safety risk to consumers.

Wheel problem #8

While driving around 50 mph on a texas highway, the tire sidewall blew out on the front drivers side with no cause, the tires have never hit a curb, properly maintained. This almost caused an accident. The vehicle only has 29k miles and has routine maintenance, original nexen tires. These tires need recalled, they car is in perfect condition only 2 years old. The car now has all pirelli tires as the car would be a hazard with nexen.

Wheel problem #9

From 9/8/2015 to 11/14/15 I have had three tires needing replacement due to their sensitivity of minimal road conditions and getting damaged. Each time I hit a small pot hole, small enough to where I thought it was a dip in the road as I came upon it. But once there I couldn't safely maneuver around it to avoid it. The style of these tires are 18" wheels which leaves no room for cushion. I have never had a problem with my sports cars, so I didn't think to ask about tire issues when I purchased this one. I cannot continue to purchase a new tire approximately every 3 weeks, so on 11/18/15 I have to pay another significant amount of money to purchase a full set of tires that will hopefully not blow out at any bump or twig in the road. The roads I travel are city roads and aren't even hazardous roads with ultimately dangerous driving conditions. I purchased this car in July 2015, and to have to go through all this in less than 6 months is ridiculous. My paperwork is all through discount tire in auburn hills, michigan.

Wheel problem #10

I just noticed that on my right front tire there is a bubble on it's side wall. The car leased new back in July of this year. The tires are the kumho solus kh25. I've also noticed here on this site, I seen a complaint for the same thing. I'm have an appointment on Monday to see what are they going to tell me. As for speed control. This car cant go above 55mph - 60mph while on highway normal curves without the rear swaying while run over divider line on the pavement. Less speed when it rains. I'm really having doubts about this car once it starts to snow.

Wheel problem #11

Rolled backwards while parked in my driveway twice and vehicle was found out in the road by my neighbors. I was driving it a week ago and my rpm's were tacking really high but could not accelerate speed and I was in 6th gear and it was telling me to shift to 6th then 5th back and forth. Had it checked out at dealership and they said my clutch had abnormal wear and tear but wasn't covered under warranty. They did not check the parking break to see if it was what caused the malfunction of the clutch. The clutch never gave me any problems it was just the car lagged when trying to accelerate speed.

Wheel problem #12

I purchased my velsoter brand new with 33 miles on it in November 2014. If Feb of 2015 I started to notice that the front end was shaking a little. I took it into my local dealership to have it looked at and get and oil change. I had about 8k miles on it. Their was a small scratch on one of the rims about 1/2 long, but nothing that would have caused the amount of shaking that was happening. The serviceman said he rotated the tires and their shouldn't be anymore issues. When I drove it home it was not any better in fact I thought it was worse. I took it back in yesterday to figure out why it is shaking and have it fixed. I was told that their were several dents in 2 of my rims which was throwing it off balance. I have not hit anything, I have not driven at speeds over 50. Their is no possible way that these dents happened due to anything being hit during normal everyday driving. They aren't looking anymore into it and won't fix it. I am very upset that this has been handled like this. Their is obviously some sort of defect or something with these particular rims if they have dents in them that have been caused by normal road conditions. They need to look more into it to figure out what the issue is because I should not be responsible for something that I have not caused.

Wheel problem #13

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster turbo has a torsion beam rear suspension that when combined with the factory 18" wheels and stock kumho solus tires gives the car very unpredictable and dangerous handling characteristics over bumps where the rear of the car feels like it is "stepping out. " after talking to 5 Hyundai dealerships and having them perform various alignment attempts and technical service bulletins for road force balancing to improve the problem, it was still not corrected and nearly resulted in numerous crashes in the 1st year off ownership. After so many attempts to fix the issue and not having it resolved and seeing numerous other reports of it on forums and other review sites, I am convinced that there is a concerted effort to hide the problem and have made the difficult decision to file this complaint. Even the Hyundai service manager who most recently drove my car said "I felt it and I don't know what to do about it. " this was after the factory technician at the same dealership felt the issue and said "it is a very light car so it will just do that" and when I replied that a same year Volkswagen jetta with the same rear suspension design did nothing of the sort and even another model in the Hyundai line (elantra) did not have the same issue, he didn't reply. Most dangerous of all is if a rear tire becomes deflated at all on a snowy or icy surface. In my situation an left rear tire went down a few pounds and the car swerved much more wildly than most other cars would a little low on air. I went a year without letting anyone else drive the car out of safety concerns until I finally put winter tires on it in 2014 in a 17" size and felt an immediate resolution to the issue (so far) with both improved grip and over the road/ bump response. The factory low beams are dangerously dim also, again numerous complaints at numerous Hyundai dealer(s) ignored.

Wheel problem #14

I have had 3 tire blowouts on my 2012 Hyundai Veloster. All for the original Hyundai tires. 3 of the 4 tires have been replaced. The car only has 25,000 to date. I have never had any other vehicle with such consistent issues. .

Wheel problem #15

During moderate braking on rough roads the vehicle makes a loud bang. At this time the brake pedal becomes very difficult to depress. This vehicle suffered four flat tires during the 2013/2014 winter in michigan due to pot holes. Two of the wheels had to be replace during one incident. Tire profile is not appropriate for roads in this area. Dealer had vehicle for a week but did not find a problem.

Wheel problem #16

After only 18 months and 28,000 miles of leasing my car from Hyundai I could hear the front drivers side wheel was making some kind of clicking sound. After inspecting the tire, which is a kumho brand, I noticed that the inside of the tire had a long narrow thread of rubber hanging from it. I called for the car to be towed to my local Hyundai dealership (valencia Hyundai). When the maintenance department (richard) told me that both front tires were very worn and need replacing I expected after such a short period of time that they would be covered by the warranty. Apparently, they are only covered by the manufacturers warranty. I called kumho tires who informed me that the warranty only covers defects and according to Hyundai there was no defect just wear and tare. The point I'm trying to make is that maybe Hyundai should not be using kumho tires in the first place as they are obviously not very good tires. I made a complaint to Hyundai and suggested that they ought to at least go splits with me on the cost of the replacement tires, although I think that was too generous of me, I think they should replace them for free. So now I'm waiting to hear back from the complaints department.

Wheel problem #17

Car purchased new in 2011. Me - 50+ female, have driven 18k miles in 30 months. Current mileage approx 18,800. Blown kumho front passenger tire at 35 mph - rim and tire replaced by dealer at my cost in Aug 2013 at 14k mileage. Jan-Feb 2014, repeated visits to dealer due to tires losing air. Feb 21, 2014, back passenger tire replaced by dealer at my cost due to bubbling and rotated to front. (Aug replacement rim and tire now on back passngr side). Dealer states tire rated for 60k miles. Dealer states all tires thoroughly examined and good to go. Cost from Aug to Feb $1000 for two tires and rims. Eight days later, have driven 50-60 miles only since visit to dealer. On Mar 1, 2014 (sat), back passenger tire flat, car towed to dealer on Mar 3 (mon). Dealer says back rim (replaced in August) needs to be replaced again but tire is fine (????), also need front left tire due to bubbling. Will cost another $800. Total of nearly $2000 in rims and tires in 6 months on a car with 18000 miles. Calls to Hyundai. They are "working on it" but dealer is not responding to specific questions. Mechanic at dealer blames the road. How can a rim be bent in a week but the tire is okay???? call to kumho regarding tires. Tires are not rated for any mileage. Lie #1 from dealer - said tires rated at 60k. Currently in rental car at my cost while Hyundai and dealer play games. Seriously contemplating getting an attorney involved. I am providing personal information required by this website and expressly state I do not wish to be contacted with any offers, information, etc. Either by email or phone and do not give permission to have my information given to any third parties.

Wheel problem #18

The low rider rear tires were making loud noises - rear left went flat - cheap tires because the belts were showing through the tire - got towed to bangor, maine to nearest dealership - they replaced the faulty tire and told me the left one was also showing through the belts. So every 27685 miles I'll need to pay $390. 00 ?? that's right, they charged me that much for two tires and no this is not an escalade, (free towing from perry me) 120 miles to bangor woweee !!! told them the air bag notification light came on they turned it off, it was off for a short time - its back on.

Wheel problem #19

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, he drove over a speed bump and noticed a scraping sound coming from the front driver and passenger side tires. The contact noticed the tires had lost air. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated the front driver and passenger side rims were scraped and would have to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated the space between the front rims and the tires was minimal. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 300. Mah.

Wheel problem #20

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph over a pot hole, the tire pressure monitoring system warning light (tpms) illuminated. After parking the vehicle, the contact noticed that the front passenger side tire lost air. The contact added air to the tire but it continued to lose air at least three additional times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer advised that the front passenger side wheel was bent. As a result, both the tire and the wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified who offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

Wheel problem #21

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact was driving 67 mph when the front passenger side rim exploded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised the contact that the failure was caused by road debris, which impacted the tire and destroyed the rim. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 4,700.
