general problems of the 2007 Hyundai Veracruz

I have had issues with my car being in drive and then when I stop not being able to get it to go into park. The esc light is also on.

Esc light came on, gear shift will not come out of park, drive or reverse unless gearshift release button is pushed. Esc light being on results in shifter not moving, no brake lights, no reverse light at any time. This recall was made in 2009 was repaired and the same issue has returned but Hyundai will not fix it because the recall is closed. It is campaign 092 stop lamp replacement. This problem affects brakes and brake lights so while driving other drivers have no idea when you are stopping or slowing down. This is extremely dangerous. The fact that it has been recalled once fixed and is doing the same thing again should mean another recall and different fix for the vehicles. Hyundai was notified yet refuses to fix it because it has already been fixed once. We were told to have it fixed and we could possibly receive a refund. This issue is continuous and happens while parked, on the highway, and city streets.

Abs, awd and esc lights coming on and staying on at 90,000 miles. The issue is a faulty rear wheel speed sensor. Dealer wants $1,200 to replace the sensor! they claim the sensor cannot be replaced without replacing the rear axle. This is a terrible safety issue to have over an inexpensive sensor. It is ridiculous that the axle must be replaced to replace the sensor.

My esc off light keeps coming on the dashboard causing the car to not shift out of park. There was a recall of the stop lamp switch which was performed in 2009. I read in a newspaper article that there is an update to this recall which will be performed starting in June 2013. Dealer refused to perform the recall work at this time and Hyundai USA states that the recall (campaign 110) is not valid for 2007 vehicles, only 2008-2009. I am very concerned, this is a serious safety issue and Hyundai refuses to repair my vehicle.

On multiple occasions I have had difficulties with the esc in my car. The first time the esc light came on and caused the car to not shift out of reverse. After multiple attempts, it finally worked but the esc had to be fixed. In summer 2010 I was driving down the road and the esc light came on, the car completely stopped in the middle of the road, steering locked up, and no power to accelerate the car. I had to turn the car completely off (while still in the middle of a busy road) and turn the car back on. I took it straight to the dealership and they again replaced the esc stating the button needed replaced. After almost a year, last week I was driving down the road again and the exact same thing happened to the car. This time, the dealer states its throttle position sensor and accelerator pedal issue and both are going to be replaced. I reviewed information on the internet for the same issues I was having and found that the Hyundai sonata 2007 model has several complaints for the same reason and the car stopping, locking up with no steering, and having to shut the vehicle off and back on to get it working. At this point, while they are telling me the car is fixed and safe, I do not trust or feel comfortable driving. The safety feature of the esc has now become a safety hazard and I cannot trust it will not happen again.
