This is related to a repeat failure of recalls 121/197 of the 2011 Hyundai Veracruz. Oil leaks down from the top valve gasket onto the alternator causing a random and erratic electrical disturbance and failure that can happen at any time causing serious risk of safety. With the alternator being damaged in this form also put other potential electrical systems at risk of damage. This is either the 3rd or 4th time of repeat failure. Previous time has damaged the battery. Luckily this time it went out in a parking lot just before was going to drive and had complete loss of power. Vehicle had to be towed into dealer service center. Upon inspection the alternator and valve cover gasket had to be replaced out of pocket as service center claims these are not covered. Tried to escalate the issue to Hyundai motor corporation to be reimbursed and was given a case manager. After a couple days I was told the original 121 recall is to old and not covered under warranty anymore and repairs were already made. I explained that recall 197 is a continuation of the previous 121 and she had to check back with the service center. A couple days later she reports back that they still will not cover the costs as the repairs have already been done before in the past. This time when received vehicle back from service center turns out the steering wheel tilt and telescoping module no longer functions. Costs of alternator $1832. 99 costs of valve cover gasket $313. 31 totaling $2146. 30 that is suppose to be covered due to the recalls. Not repaired because of hassle between service center and Hyundai motorcorp refusal to reimburse anything is the steering wheel tilt/telescoping module quoted at $1096. 06 included photo is taken of the alternator prior to being towed and clearly shows the over time build up of dripping oil all over it.

This complaint is for NHTSA recall number 20v-705/Hyundai recall number 197. This recall notice has been out for almost 6 months now and there is still no remedy or any help from Hyundai corporate or local dealerships. My car has been sitting un-useable for the past month because of this recall and no dealership will take my car. I have called Hyundai USA and there is nothing they can do for me. This recall has gone for far too long.
It has been over 8 months after I received 1st recall notice last 11/2020. Hyundai motors America keep sending interim notices only, so I brought my SUV to Hyundai dealership at dublin last 4/2020. The one of mechanic informed me that he couldn't provide recall services since there are no remedy yet. I think it should be enough time to get remedy but they just don't care about customer's safety at all. Thank you.
This vehicle I purchased is having a leak from the gasket rocker valve cover and it has leaked into the alternator. I'm afraid my vehicle will stop running putting my family in danger.
Passenger side interior door latch snapped in two. The vehicle was stationary at the time of the breakage. Safety concern about the jagged edge of the broken plastic piece, as well as the concern over having to exit the vehicle in an emergency.
While driving to work at 55 mph my 2011 Hyundai Veracruz made a clunk sound from the engine area and starting dropping speed to around 20mph the check engine light illuminated as well. When I pressed the acceleration it would not accelerate but the car still stayed steady at 20 mph. I pulled over to get out of traffic and turned the car off. I started it back and pulled out and it seemed to correct itself? after another 4-5 miles at same speed it did the same thing once again bit this time I was in heavy traffic on a very busy hwy. I limped to the next exit and turned the car off. I had my car towed to dealership ($225) where they was unable to reproduce the problem?? they said that they could not find any codes? took car back home and sure enough, the same thing happened. Took back to Hyundai in hickory, nc and once again they could not find the cause and tried to say it could possibly be bad gas? they did offer to keep the car overnight so they could drive it. They called the next day and said that it did the same thing with them on a test run and recommended that I allow them to service the throttle body. I agreed, car was ready the next day, drove home and. . . . . Yes once again the same exact thing. I have paid over $700 counting the tow and still the same issues. Took it back to dealership and they said they needed to replace the throttle body????? now I am usually a very easy going person but they just too $484 from me for a repair that did nothing. They did offer to take $100 off the labor so bottom line is I had no choice. Car was ready two days later since they had to wait for the part. Drove home and all is fine $862. 91 to repair the throttle body. Two days later, same issue.
Since I purchased this vehicle brand new , the tpms light comes on intermittendly . Took the car in multiple times and Hyundai said they cannot fix it unless the light is on at the tome of repair , looking around the web , just about anyone that owns this vehicle has the same issue , this is a distraction while driving and if my wife is driving she freaks out , one day the will be a problem for real and it's just a accident waiting to happen and I will hold Hyundai responsible , why wait for that , please look around the web and you will see that most Veracruz owners have the same issue and Hyundai is doing nothing about it thank you for your time.
When opening the door, the interior driver's door handle was catching on the door panel. This went on for several months until I pulled the mechanism to open the door and the handle broke. The plastic part physically broke. I now have to roll down the window electronically and open the door from the outside. Exiting in an emergency would be extremely difficult.
