37 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 08/07/2014

Randomly after pulling up to a stop in my garage, I cannot move my shifter from drive to park. I can only move it back and forth from neutral to drive. After turning the car on and off multiple times in neutral it allowed me to put the car into park. I could not back out of my garage, nor could I put it into park, a serious safety concern. I called Hyundai corporate and they told me the recall for it has already been done, but it is doing it now every time I want to put it into park. The esc off light comes on without pushing the button and the car is stuck in drive.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 01/04/2014

Driving less than 40 mph and multiple lights came on, almost simultaneously. First esc off, abs and parking brake lights. Then momentarily afterwards check engine and tpms lights came on. Took it to stealership, said the brake control module was bad and needed to be replaced. Car kept in excellent condition with freq oil changes and proper tire maintenance. Est cost to repair $2,800. Out of warranty and was told that they haven't seen anything like this in their shop.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 08/03/2013

The vehicle will occasionally not shift into or out of park. The esc light also comes on. There is a recall for this model of car, but the dealership is saying that the VIN shows that it is not subject to recall, despite the fact that the dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty stop lamp switch. The exact problem with the vehicle is what is described in the summary section of your website. I'm not sure why my vehicle is not subject to recall.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

On 8/1/2013, while driving at 35-40 mph, the car lost acceleration (engine was running but pressing gas pedal had no effect on engine rpms, brakes and steering functioned correctly), and "esc" (not "esc off") dash light started flashing. Stopped and turned car off and back on and the car accelerated fine. Took car into tempe Hyundai, but they could find "no error codes in computer". About 2 weeks later, problem occurred again. Returned to tempe Hyundai, and they kept car over night for a technician to drive home and back, but problem did not occur for them. On Saturday, 8/17/2013, the problem became constant, and I found that (while it was happening) I could turn esc off and the problem immediately stopped, until I turned esc back on. I drove to tempe Hyundai, and their technician went for a drive with me and saw the problem occurring. Tempe Hyundai replaced what they called the steering control sensor (said it was reading 20 degrees when set at 0 degrees) and my wife picked up the car on Wednesday, 8/21/2013. On Friday evening, 8/23/2013, the problem occurred again, and the car was returned to tempe Hyundai on Saturday, 8/24/2013. Again, they were unable to find any error codes, but kept the car to allow their "expert" technician to check it out. The internet is rife with reports of many makes/models of cars manifesting this extremely dangerous problem, and it's scary to think what may happen if this problem occurs while in rush hour traffic and/or on a busy freeway with speeding semi trucks all around. The cause(s) of this problem needs to be determined and the fix provided to all who are at risk before someone gets killed or maimed!.

41 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 05/25/2013

While driving down the highway (approx. Speeds of 65 mph), while raining, the vehicle started to stutter, speedometer jumped around, and the esc off, abs and awd warning lights flashed and then stayed on. Once the lights stayed on (no longer flashing) it seemed as though the vehicle drove "normal. " after a day of driving with the lights on they would turn off and problem wouldn't come on again until their was some sort of moisture/precipitation happening; and then once dry would turn off again. Had dealer check vehicle (at the time of check no lights/symptoms occurring) and they said it required a new hecu unit and a new wheel speed sensor (approx. Cost $3,200). They could neither explain why it only happened when it was wet and did not want to troubleshoot beyond the basic code check. Hyundai was contacted and they offered no help - it was only 1,000 over warranty by the time we were able to have it looked at by dealer (which also took 2 weeks to set up appointment with Hyundai tech). Dealer cleared codes and put dielectric grease on the connections. Had no problems for 7 months, and then problem reappeared. Only now the problem is a severe safety risk to myself and others around me. There is no telling (can occur at any speed and doesn't matter how long car has been on or how far driven) when the systems mentioned will fail, and when the lights start flashing I have no ability to accelerate the vehicle until all the lights turn steady and stay on. If this were to happen when pulling out/across traffic it could turn fatal. A quick check on the internet and one will find a host of complaints relating to this same problem. A recall needs to be issued before someone is injured!.

42 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 05/06/2013

At random times, I cannot move my shifter from drive to park and it seems to correspond with the esc light turning on without pushing the button. I can only move the shifter from drive to neutral and have to leave the car ignition partially on and cannot lock the vehicle. Obviously a safety concern! I have brought it to the local dealer only to be told there is nothing wrong with the esc control even after the recall bulletin. The dealer just did a fix relating to the oil leak issue and told him it was also doing the shift issue. Picked vehicle up 9/25/14 as everything was supposed to be resolved but only to have the shifter and esc issue again on 9/27 and 9/29/14. Called dealer and am bringing in vehicle again today 9/29/14.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 04/26/2013

My esc off light keeps coming on the dashboard causing the car to not shift out of park. There was a recall of the stop lamp switch which was performed in 2009. I read in a newspaper article that there is an update to this recall which will be performed starting in June 2013. Dealer refused to perform the recall work at this time and Hyundai USA states that the recall (campaign 110) is not valid for 2007 vehicles, only 2008-2009. I am very concerned, this is a serious safety issue and Hyundai refuses to repair my vehicle.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 05/21/2012

Traveling on dry pavement approx. 45 mph. Clear, sunny day @80f when had to stop suddenly. The dashboard light up showing "esc off", "abs" and "brake" lights continuously on after incident. Next morning upon start up the lights still remained along with improper speedometer function. I decided to take it to the dealership where it was diagnosed as "hydrolic module" failure (p/n 589103j950). This resulted in loss of esc function and other possible hazards. Being an integrated part this will effect more than one system of braking. This is not a cheap part and vital.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 08/08/2011

Normal driving habits on the 2008 Veracruz. After hearing a large clunk going speeds variable from 5-45 mph, the accelerator is unresponsive and vehicle is unsafe. Restarted engine multiple times to work "normally" again. It appears that Hyundai is aware of the issue and suggests replacing the throttle position sensor ($41. 00) and an upgrade the the vehicle. This needs to be a recall because if this happens at the wrong time, someone could die from it.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 06/30/2010

On multiple occasions I have had difficulties with the esc in my car. The first time the esc light came on and caused the car to not shift out of reverse. After multiple attempts, it finally worked but the esc had to be fixed. In summer 2010 I was driving down the road and the esc light came on, the car completely stopped in the middle of the road, steering locked up, and no power to accelerate the car. I had to turn the car completely off (while still in the middle of a busy road) and turn the car back on. I took it straight to the dealership and they again replaced the esc stating the button needed replaced. After almost a year, last week I was driving down the road again and the exact same thing happened to the car. This time, the dealer states its throttle position sensor and accelerator pedal issue and both are going to be replaced. I reviewed information on the internet for the same issues I was having and found that the Hyundai sonata 2007 model has several complaints for the same reason and the car stopping, locking up with no steering, and having to shut the vehicle off and back on to get it working. At this point, while they are telling me the car is fixed and safe, I do not trust or feel comfortable driving. The safety feature of the esc has now become a safety hazard and I cannot trust it will not happen again.
