The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz. While the vehicle was parked with the engine running, the rear liftgate opened unexpectedly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection, but they could not duplicate the failure. The failure recurred at least eleven additional times. The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer on three occasions. The liftgate power mechanism was replaced; however, the failure persists. The failure mileage was 1,000 and current mileage was 9,000.

2008 Hyundai Veracruz limited. Just picked it up on Friday. Prior to my purchase I read in an on-line Hyundai forum that the proximity key fob that is used to arm/disarm the vehicle, lock/unlock all doors, and open/close the liftgate has an issue that causes the liftgate to open by itself even tough the doors are locked. I went outside today to find my liftgate open . The key fob was in my pants pocket. I would like Hyundai to investigate a re-design.
