Wheel problem #1

Driving slowly on city streets, I began braking at a stop sign, when 3 dash indicator sensor lights came on. The abs, esc and the 4 wheel drive sensor lights. After stopping I continued and the car started to jerk and was difficult to control. It was trying to brake while I was trying to accelerate. I immediately returned to our driveway and had to cancel our outing. Called the repair shop and they diagnosed it as a left rear wheel speed sensor problem. The cost for the repair will be $550. 00.

Wheel problem #2

The tpms light continues to go on and off. So does the tire pressure light. The tires are properly filled. I see that I am not alone.

Wheel problem #3

2008 Veracruz that feels like my brake pedal is grinding and pulsating at speeds less than 20 mph. The brakes grind randomly and kick back towards my foot, and I have to re-brake. It only happens after the car is initially turned off and the first one or two breaks. Then, behaves normally. It will happen several days in a row, several times in a day and/or then could go weeks or months with it not occurring. We did new rear breaks. The dealer said the rotors and pads are find and told me it could be from water or something getting in there randomly (ie. Pollen). I tend to completely disagree as something simple like water would not make this significant of grinding/pulsating so continuously but yet randomly. This becomes very scary continuing to happen because I am wondering if something is about to snap and the breaks will not work or what is happening. I have reviewed several other people with similar complaints online with the Veracruz.

Wheel problem #4

Tire valve w/tmps fails. This is a simple and very standard but critical component to maintaining tire air pressure. The valve broke off in the simple act of removing the cap to add air. Break was the end of the the valve stem and prevent airing the tire. The Hyundai dealership service department inspected all wheels and found two more caps which they refused to try to loosen since they were out of valves to replace. This service department seemed to recognize their effort would likely have same result. They seemed to know this is a problem. A quick internet search shows this to be a common experience. The ability to pressurize the tire is a routine maintenance task which must have robust tire valve, since tire pressure is critical safety requirement. The typical user is very use to removing a tire valve cap and not have a problem. The valve design being used by Hyundai appears to be common design for many models/years. This is a very serious problem with a design for a critical safety component. This needs to be investigated and immediate corrective action taken.

Wheel problem #5

Wheel bearings failing every 30,000 or so miles. Have had the car in 3 times for new hubs in 4 years. I believe there is a manufacturing design defect in the hubs causing these frequent failures. Contacted Hyundai regarding trade in assistance to get me out of this car believing it might be this particular vehicle or the model but they are not interested in providing assistance. Bearing should last 100,000 miles, minimum.
