3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 01/21/2022

While driving to work today on 1/21/2022 my vehicle was traveling at about 35 mile per hours when it suddenly began to slow and was unresponsive to my effort to maintain speed, and then several dashboard warning lights including the check engine light, charging system light, seatbelt light, and then the car began to have a loss of power and stalled. I did have my alternator and battery replaced in February of 2021 when this happened previously. Then I received a notice of NHTSA recall 20v705000 and had the remedy repaired completed in August 2022. I did attempt to have Hyundai USA reimburse me for my alternator repair and a previous repair I paid for related to the fault valve covers gaskets, but they refused my request for reimbursement. Now the problems and potential hazard remains. Thank you.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 06/23/2021

This vehicle has had multiple problems with the valve cover gasket since we purchased it. In 2015 we had the alternator and valve cover gasket replaced per the recall. The next year in 2016 we had to replace the alternator and valve cover gasket again, as the gasket was again leaking. In November of 2020 Hyundai admitted they were aware there was still problems with some gaskets, including with our car as we received a notice in the mail about a pending recall. In the last 7 months I have received 3 notices, but they all say that no repair has been implemented as of this time. This week we had to take our car in for the yearly required inspections in PA, and again our gasket is leaking. To pass inspection we had to replace it again, for the 3rd time. I called Hyundai and was told that I should have it done and submit my receipt for reimbursement because as of now there still is no fix. It is unimaginable to me that a company as big as Hyundai can be aware of a problem like this for more than 6 years and not come up with a permanent fix.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

Car has been repaired 7 times under a recall with no fix and has been sitting for 8 weeks dead waiting for a resolution. We would like the manufacturerer to buy back the car under the recall law as they can not fix the problem. Oil gas cap has leaked on the alternator again and car stopped while my child was driving it for the 7th time since 2011.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 01/24/2020

Manufactured from December 26, 2006, through July 24, 2012. The affected vehicles may experience an oil leak from the front cylinder bank valve cover gasket. If there is a sufficient amount of oil dropped onto the alternator, the alternator will be damaged causing the charging system to become inoperative. My vehicle was in motion and shutoff while driving on the road.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 08/29/2019

September 15, 2018 we had broke down on the interstate. Lost all control of car, no steering, no acceleration, no parking gear. Mechanical said there was an oil leak above the alternator. Fried the alternator. Yesterday, wife was driving, broke down on highway. I looked at the engine block and there is oil leaking from the valve pan gasket down into the alternator again. Hyundai says my model of 2008 Veracruz wasnt affected by the standing recall that is active right now. But I think my car has been affected by this problem with faulty valve pan gaskets. Vehicle lost power while in motion, all dummy lights came on. Engine shut off and would not allow is to get it in park. Mechanics checked the battery. Battery tested perfect. Said it had low voltage and wasnt being charged by the system.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 06/14/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Veracruz. The contact stated that while in the process of turning the vehicle around from a hill, while in reverse, once the gear was shifted, it was noticed by a passenger that smoke was coming out of the hood. The vehicle was shifted in to park, both the driver and passenger exited the vehicle as a fire started under the hood. The fire department extinguished the flames and provided a report number and a police report was provided with a report number. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v415000 (engine and engine cooling), 18v934000 (engine, fuel system, gasoline), 15v568000 (engine) however the vehicle exhibited the same failures as the recall campaigns. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer yet and was unable to be driven due to the vehicle being parked after it was towed to the college campus. The fire raged to the point that the dashboard melted, rubber hoses, winshield burned as well as it had fractured and the front seats melted due to the extent of the internal failure which resulted in a catastrophic fire. The manufacturer consumer affairs department requested information to investigate the cause of the fire and was to follow up with the owner to determine a response. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 04/09/2019

My car was in an accident and was totaled iand none of the airbags deployed resulting in injury to my daughter she was driving east on park boulevard and another car traveling the same direction was in the left-hand turn lane and decided not to turn and pulled out and she had him.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 04/20/2018

Nhtsa campaign #14v415000 was issues for recall of faulty valve cover gasket that can leak and short out alternator, causing loss of power while driving. Our Veracruz has now had this valve cover replaced three times since this recall was issued, twice now in the last year. This time, 4/2018, the alternator was shorted out and caused loss of power while vehicle was is motion on city street. Hyundai has repaired faulty parts again, however, they have yet to have a valid fix for the problem. The repairs have only been a bandaid, as same problem keeps occurring. I believe there should be an additional recall issued till Hyundai comes up with valid fix for the dangerous problem.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 11/19/2014

Leaking fluid on my driveway. No action on recall noted on Nov. 19, 2014 Hyundai repair invoice. Reference manufacturer recall # 197. It has been 7 years waiting for this problem to be remedied by Hyundai. This situation is ridiculous!.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 06/23/2014

On about June 23, 2014 my wife was driving her 2008 Hyundai Veracruz at about 65mph. It started slowing down even though the gas pedal was pushed. She pulled over and shut the car off while trying to decide what to do. She decided to turn the car back on and see how it drove. It seemed fine the rest of the way home. Before I could take it into the repair shop the check engine light turned off by itself. I thought maybe there was just a mistake with the light coming on and everything was fine. About two weeks later, while driving at about the same speed, it started slowing down by itself again. She pulled off to the side and shut the car off again. I had her turn it on a couple minutes later and everything was fine again. The check engine light has stayed on this time and I took it right to the shop to get fixed. I ran a code reader and everything sounded like it was the throttle position sensor. Well the shop tells me that it's the throttle body that needs replaced. I took it in on Monday, July 14 and they said they had to order the part and it would be here on Thursday, July 17. So Thursday we dropped the car off and waited for the call that it was done. Didn't happen!! we finally called them around 5:00 and they said that they were still waiting on the part and it should definitely be done by Saturday, July 19. Saturday morning they call and say that they don't know where the part it and that is lost somewhere!?!? now they're saying it will definitely be done by Tuesday, July 22. We'll see. I have seen numerous complaints about this same issue and the concerns that there is a design problem with the throttle body/ throttle position sensor but Hyundai doesn't seem to think so.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 07/04/2013

Battery warning light came on, followed by every other warning light on the dash, one by one (abs, air bag, check-engine, etc. ) drove car to a safe place and turned it off--and then it would not start again. Had car towed to dealer who diagnosed a failed alternator--and this is the fourth time on this car which has less that 60k miles on it. My parents also own a Veracruz and are on their third alternator. This is a known problem with Hyundai yet they will not engineer a good solution and fix it once and for all. This is the fourth time we have been stuck at the side of the road and had to be towed. This is not acceptable. Someone needs to step in and require that Hyundai recall these cars and find a solution that works for more than a few thousand miles.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 06/06/2013

This vehicle suffers from design/manufacture defect. The valve cover gasket is defective. It leaks oil which fouls the alternator resulting in catastrophic loss of electrical systems including transmission function and steering control. All this occured during ordinary driving resulting in near collision and total loss of power requiring emergency towing services. My service employee was well aware of this malfunction previously reported by other owners. He knew exactly what the problem was as soon as I described these events. I now have far less confidence in the reliability of this vehicle!.

17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 12/17/2011

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Hyundai Veracruz

Failure Date: 10/07/2008

The engine just quit while I was driving on the freeway during morning rush-hour. There was suddenly no response when accelerator was depressed. I managed to glide across 2 freeway lanes to exit freeway while car decelerated. This occurred on oct 7, 2008. I don't recall if at the off ramp red light, the car completely stopped and I restarted it or was barely idling. I do recall the car barely driving (it was trembling/rough idling) the few feet from the red light to the first gas station. I parked it and it would not start up. Hyundai towed it to their dealership. Mechanic diagnosed the problem was: "the throttle body has failed and needs to be replaced. " I haven't experienced this again--and had not experienced it before this incident. While I managed to avoid crashing into other vehicles going 50-70 mph when I glided across the lanes, this was a terrifying experience. (I am submitting this complaint 1-1/2 years after the mechanical failure only because of the serious problems Toyota customers have experienced w/sudden acceleration, etc. I just want to ensure that NHTSA was informed by Hyundai back in 2008 of my potentially deadly engine failure on a freeway during rush-hour traffic. I think they should have had a duty to report this serious failure to you, and if they did, great. In case they didn't, now you know. ).
