The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai Xg300l. While driving between 40-45 mph, the contact heard a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle stalled shortly afterwards. He was able to restart the vehicle and pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a goodyear service center and the mechanic stated that the engine was blown and the oil level was very low; however, the failure was not caused by a lack of oil. The manufacturer would not assist because the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact stated that none of the instrument panel lights illuminated to indicate any failures. The vehicle is currently located at the service shop and has not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 92,000. Updated 4/21/08 the rack and pinion was replaced.
