Tl- the contact owns a 2008 infinite Ex35. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the steering wheel electronic tilt had malfunctioned and the driver was unable to properly re position the steering wheel. In addition while turning in either direction the steering wheel exhibited excessive play. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering wheel tilt motor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA recall campaign number 15v054000(steering). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 68,000. Local dealer was not notified. Jft.

Lost steering completely. Steering wheel would rotate 360 degrees freely without affecting wheels. While driving down road at approximately 40 miles per hour, began to have play in steering wheel. Slowed down while play worsened. . Lost steering and stopped at an intersection. Had no steering whatever; steering wheel would free spin 360 degrees. Vehicle towed to dealership.
