Two problems related to front air bag sensor control have been reported for the 2008 Infiniti FX35. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Not sure if related to takata airbag, but the passenger airbag sensor went out and only certain vins were recalled. When I started my car, the airbag sensor light illuminated and remained illuminated. When I spoke to the service guy, he said as long as it's not flashing, you can drive it. So I turned car on again to go to work, and the airbag sensor light began to flash. Service guy said bring it in, it's more urgent now. They ran the computer scan and noted the passenger airbag sensor has failed. Close to $5000 to replace entire seat with sensor. He said it's okay to drive you just don't have passenger airbag protection. I'm very concerned and disappointed that only some vins with the same issue has been recalled at this time.
Problem appears closer to recent recall of hundai sonata cars w/ steering wheel bags. While traveling down busy 4-lane highway, sensor light came on associated with seat and airbags. Roswell Infiniti , roswell, GA had to completely tear apart steering wheel column, work on airbags, sensors, and other items. I had just purchased vehicle from another dealer, but has only a little over 105,000 miles. Did not expect almost $4,000 in repairs due to this problem. I think it is a problem associated with other japanese models and should have a recall. Please investigate as soon as possible. When light came on I was very scared because I wasn't sure whether I should keep driving and I was over 25 miles from dealership by that time. Brought it in next day but took over 3 days to repair due to parts, etc.
