One problem related to rear seat belt buckle has been reported for the 1996 Infiniti G20. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When my daughter went to buckle her seatbelt in the back seat of my car, the buckle wouldn't latch. I tried it, too--the metal piece slid into the other part without latching. Then it'd latch; next try it wouldn't. I couldn't trust the seatbelt, so we couldn't let the children ride in that car any longer. Thankfully the seatbelt failed when we were buckling the child in the car in the driveway heading out--and not during an accident, or on the way home. I'm mad that the seatbelt could fail without warning like that. How can I trust that the seatbelt will work properly when it's needed???!! I called the manufacturer and they confirmed a lifetime warranty on the seatbelt. 11/26 I took the car to the dealer and they replaced the seatbelt mechanism under warranty and checked the function of the other seatbelts. I'm satisfied that they've fixed it. . . But still concerned if the other seatbelts will fail without my knowing, and concerned about all the other cars of my make/model out there, whose seatbelts may have failed and parents don't yet know it.
