Nine problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 2003 Infiniti G35. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
As I was accelerating to access highway, I was not able to accelerate my vehicle. It was as if I was running out of gas. I kept pressing the gas pedal and it slowly started to accelerate and seemed fine. A few minutes later when I was sitting at a red light, the car died. I put it in park and restarted and it was fine. A few days later the same thing happened as I was in the carpool line at my daughter's school. Car was running, while I waited and it suddenly shut down. When I restarted, the check engine light was illuminated and remained on. I checked my manual and thought it could be the gas cap wasn't on tight enough or bad gas. Filled up my tank and a few hours later check engine light went out. Today the car died as I was pulling into my driveway, however immediately restarted. Researched recall information and contacted Infiniti and was told my vehicle was not part of NHTSA campaign number 03v455000.
I had pulled up to drive thru window at the bank and put my car in park, with the engine running, when I finished my transaction I tried to put my car in drive but the gear shifter wouldn't move. I finally shut my car off and waited a few seconds and started it again and the shifter worked. It has also happened to me when I have started my car and tried to put it in reverse. It is intermittent. I also have an air bag sensor light flashing and hope they will include my VIN # in the recall but they haven't so far. Even in the expanded recall. I don't know why. When does our safety become important? my stereo/cd player also stopped working and I had to replace that. What good does all of these repetitive complaints do if the auto companies aren't made to repair all of them?.
Consumer has experienced car a few events since early '10 of vehicle being reluctant to stop, even when brakes were applied down to the floor. The last event occurred today (9/18/11). Today's event was more scary than the previous events, in that the car accelerated far ahead of our destination and could have possibly hit another driver, if a driver had been present. The brakes are functioning properly and are not worn. At this point, I am gravely concerned about this malfunction, and it feels like I am at great risk of having an unavoidable accident.
Was driving my Infiniti G35 2003, while passing a vehicle going slow my accelerator went to the floor, beyond my control, I hit the gas pedal hard with my right foot while panicking trying to release it. I was coming to an intersection I had to stand on my brake pedal. I don't know how fast exactly but it was over 100 mph. It happened very fast, I did try to put it in neutral but missed and hit reverse I then went sideways and my car made some very weird whining sounds. I then shut off the ignition. I should've done that first but in that situation you just panic. After coasting to a long stop I started it again. Same thing still 8k rpms, pedal still at the floor, I shut it off and inspected my pedal it was stuck to the floor. No floor mat grabbed it (like infinity insisted happened) and I am 150 percent sure I did not depress my pedal then or ever to the floor for which it could stick.
I was driving my sister-in-law to macarthur airport in islip, NY. We came to a red light just outside the airport. I took my foot off the gas pedal and put it on the brake pedal, but I felt the car was still trying to move as though there was another foot on the gas pedal. Fortunately it was not that much thrust involved. I kept pressing harder on the brake, but the car kept inching forward at about 2 mph. I wasn't sure if I could stop before hitting the car in front of me (fortunately I always leave lots of room). So I put the car in neutral. Because my foot was pressed very hard on the brake, there was a sudden jerk as we stopped suddenly. Luckily we all had our seat belts on. It has not happened since. I don't think there is anything wrong with the pedal. Maybe there was some type of electrical interference from the airport that messed with my car's electronics?.
2003 inifiniti G35 sedan lurches forward when car is stopped. The car accelerates until brakes are severely depressed. This has occurred at stop signs, stop lights and in my garage. This problem is a dangerous issue. My car has been damaged due to this issue.
The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. While approaching an intersection at speeds of 55 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle began to abnormally accelerate. She attempted to apply pressure to the brake pedal to no avail. A pedestrian was in her path when she forced the vehicle into the park position to avoid hitting him. Immediately, there was a sudden and abnormal increase in the engine rpms accompanied by a loud noise. She shut the engine off and restarted the vehicle and within a few moments, the vehicle was functioning normally. The dealer could not duplicate the failure. No repairs were made. The manufacturer would not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 78,000.
I have a 2003 G35 sedan with approximately 13,000 miles on it. While traveling down a sidestreet at 35 mph approaching a stop sign at a major four lane cross street, removed foot from accelerator pedal to begin slowing down the vehicle when the car spontaneously revved at high rpm (over 6000 rpm). Had to apply the brake forcefully to attempt to stop the vehicle and the car powered through the stop sign and into the first cross lane of the four lane street. A car on the cross street had to swerve to avoid striking our vehicle. The car could only be stopped by throwing the shift lever into neutral. On two previous occasions when the vehicle was about one month old, experienced a sudden spontaneous revving of the engine while stopped at a signal. The two previous occurrences did not result in loss of control of the vehicle. On the most recent occurrence, I had the vehicle towed to our servicing dealer (autoplace Infiniti), where they claimed to have conducted a thorough diagnostic. They reported that they were unable to find any defects, computer error codes or manufacturer service bulletins on this problem, and, of course, were unable to duplicate the problem. I have written to Infiniti consumer affairs about the problem as we are terrified to drive the vehicle and it has been idle in our garage the past three weeks awaiting a response from Infiniti as to this serious problem.
