Camshaft Position Sensor problems of the 2005 Infiniti G35

Seven problems related to camshaft position sensor have been reported for the 2005 Infiniti G35. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2019

The car shuts down while driving and a combination of light such as slip and vdc appear. This has occurred 4 times in less than three years costing me 2500 in repairs. Each time the problem is diagnosed with a camshaft sensor issue. I researched online and there are hundreds of complaints listed from other Infiniti and Nissan owners. There certainly seems to be a pattern and this is a very dangerous situation as the car shuts down in the middle of a highway with traffic going 60 miles per hour and faster behind me. Since I am not breaking, the driver behind does not see a break light and could plow into me. I called Infiniti and they tell me there is no recall.

2 Camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2018

While driving check engine soon comes on vehicle shuts off research its a 1 cam shaft sensor.

3 Camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2015

Driving car then it stalled. Tried to restart and all lights came on (engine, vcf, slip-light). Wouldn't start for 2 minutes. Once restarted, engine light stayed on. Drove car to get diagnostic test. Diagnostic says camshaft position sensor. Researched and found same happenings on 2002 & 2003 models; Infiniti has recall on those. Called about my VIN and Infiniti claims that my VIN is not included in recall.

4 Camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2015

The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti G35. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the camshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 115,000.

5 Camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2014

Approximately 3 months ago I purchased a 2005 Infiniti G35 for my daughter. Two weeks ago the car began to shut completely down while she was driving it with no warning whatsoever - regardless of speed. There would be a complete loss of power, including power steering, so it would be difficult for her to get the car off the road before attempting to restart it. This problem has continued to occur at random every time the car is driven creating a very dangerous situation; particularly, for a teenage driver. I googled the car's issues, and learned that Nissan has a recall on 2005 Infiniti G35's for the replacement of a camshaft position sensor which has been described as causing this loss of power problem. I called Nissan to see if my daughter's car was on the recall list and was told it was not. An Infiniti dealer ran a diagnostic on the car this morning and confirmed that the car's camshaft position sensor had failed and needs to be replaced. I believe Nissan should honor this recall on every 2005 Infiniti G35 vehicle - not just those vehicles whose VIN numbers appear on the recall list - especially those vehicles who have had the sensor fail. The repair totals $425. 00 and I am seeking reimbursement of that amount from Nissan.

6 Camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2013

My vehicle stalled while driving creating a very hazardous situation. Engine restarted with hesitation and vdc, slip, and service engine light came on and remained on. I was told by dealer that it was due to a faulty camshaft position sensor and parts and labor for a new one would cost an estimated $500. There is currently a recall on 2003 models for the same problem, recall #03v455000. As I have seen other complaints for this issue on other models, it should be investigated and an updated recall for other model years needs to be enforced. This is a potentially dangerous malfunction. This is unacceptable and could result in several lawsuits.

7 Camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2012

My car should be included on the cam shaft sensor recall 03v455000 the car stalls while driving with the vdc and service engine soon lights turning on.
