I own 3 Infiniti G35's (2006, 2006, & 2007) and all 3 had this same exact problem! the fuel gauge reads a level higher than the vehicle actually has causing the cars check engine light to come on and the car runs out of gas and stalls with no notice. One time it almost caused a crash! I have replaced 2 clusters and am now being told 3rd Infiniti cluster needs to be replaced. Obviously this is a major issue and very costly to repair amongst 06 & 07 Infiniti G35's. Please look into this!!.
I am having issues with the fuel system, gas gauge doesn’t read correctly, my car doesn’t allow me to put in more than $2 of fuel every few minutes, I have been stranded on the road twice now because the gauge doesn't read correctly, I have replaced everything to replace and the problem still persists, this is unsafe and very unfortunate to have to deal with.
Driving on the highway in fast lane during evening commute, my infinity malfunctioned - random engine shutoff. This malfunction disabled all features of vehicle - lights, steering, brakes, airbags, and more. (the previous section only let me select three affected parts) luckily I was able to coast vehicle to a stop on the inside of the highway without causing an accident, being injured myself or worse. Had to have vehicle towed from scene. Research shows that a variety of infinity vehicles from 2005 to the current year have experienced this same malfunction issue and there seems to have been a recall issued for later years. I contacted infinity regarding this issue and was told that my vehicle not covered. Request that NHTSA investigate cause of random shutoff (some sort of fuel sensor) and issue a recall for all infinity years/models to correct this issue. Infinity suggests I bring vehicle in for diagnosis but will be subject to hourly rate for diagnosis and replacement parts/repairs.
The vehicle is difficult to refuel. The pump bounces back during refueling and makes it difficult to fuel the car past half full even doing it very slowly. Infiniti sent a notification that evaporative emission vapor tube sometimes may get clogged and the symptom is difficulty to refuel. However the dealership says that this is probably a different issue. I found out that Infiniti released a service bulletin for another issue relating to refuelling with similar symptom itb08-041a however it is an expensive repair if the vehicle is out of warranty. With so many issues with the fuel system, shouldn't Infiniti do a recall to fix the defects with the fuel system. I am attaching both documents for your review.
