Steering problem #1

Driving on the highway in fast lane during evening commute, my infinity malfunctioned - random engine shutoff. This malfunction disabled all features of vehicle - lights, steering, brakes, airbags, and more. (the previous section only let me select three affected parts) luckily I was able to coast vehicle to a stop on the inside of the highway without causing an accident, being injured myself or worse. Had to have vehicle towed from scene. Research shows that a variety of infinity vehicles from 2005 to the current year have experienced this same malfunction issue and there seems to have been a recall issued for later years. I contacted infinity regarding this issue and was told that my vehicle not covered. Request that NHTSA investigate cause of random shutoff (some sort of fuel sensor) and issue a recall for all infinity years/models to correct this issue. Infinity suggests I bring vehicle in for diagnosis but will be subject to hourly rate for diagnosis and replacement parts/repairs.

Steering problem #2

Loss of power steering under normal driving conditions. I first noticed the brake and battery light on. When I attempted to make a left turn to get off of a major road, I realized I no longer had power steering. Fortunately, I was near a shopping center and was able to drive the car off the road and into the parking lot. Here's the end result. The dealer service center said the belt tensioner seized which broke the belt. In my case, the belt also tore off the front crank seal and engine oil was everywhere. My car is 2007 G35 sedan with 13,000 miles. When I retrieved my car, the service rep indicated Infiniti was aware of the problem and they subsequently redesigned the parts. Claimed I should not have the problem again - boy I hope so. I could have been in a serious accident because of the known defect. Why this isn't a recall issue is beyond me. I am reporting it so others will know of this issue. Is this another case of repair as needed rather than recall?.

Steering problem #3

Infiniti g 35x 2007. At 20,000 miles, the power steering belt broke during speeds of 60 mph. I was told the belt was defective. At 25,000 miles, the belt broke again on the freeway at 60 mph. I had difficulty maneuvering the car off the freeway and am traffic heavy with no shoulder. The dealership replaced the belt again but was unable to state the cause. They stated they replaced parts surrounding the belt. I now have approx 28,000 miles and a wheel bearing and the differential had to be replaced. Nissan, the parent company is aware of the power steering issue but states that this has never happened with any of their vehicles. I believe I have a lemon vehicle but washington state lemon law states too much time has elapsed to be covered under this. We received no assistance from Nissan corp. I consider this a safety issue.
