Tire Sidewall Problems of Infiniti G35

Tire cracking in two places at inside sidewall / tread mold line. Mileage on tires < 24,500. Warranty 60,000. Tires stored as per dunlap recommendation during winter. Factory wheels. Tires mounted only once at purchase. Dunlap offered credit of $32 on $160. 00 tire - no replacement available - discontinued.

The contact owns a 2006 infinity G35 equipped with michelin pilot tires, size 225/40/r19. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, she heard a loud popping and a glass shattering noise. The vehicle began to veer off into a wooded area off of the interstate. The vehicle was brought to a stop and was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician stated that the tread on the front driver side tire had started to separate and the sidewall had disintegrated. There was damage done to the rim, front bumper and the under carriage of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN and dot number were unavailable.

New 2004 infinity G35 coupe purchased 12/11/03 skidded out of control 12/14/03 on expressway when light snow was falling and sticking to road surface. The tires sold with the car were "summer only" tires with an n/a traction rating on the sidewall. This fact was not mentioned by the dealership nor on the car window sticker nor in the brochure that gives the details about the car. When I made this problem known to the dealership they were indifferent. I have just spent $1400 to purchase 4 winter performance tires for this car. These cars are being sold in winter months without consumers being able to know that it is dangerous to drive them in winter conditions.
