I started my car with my foot on the brake and it revved up to 4500 rpms. I took out my phone and had time to take two pictures of the meter. I turned the car off and it did it again, for a total of three times. The same thing had happened once earlier in the day. I also happens sporadically when I first start it in the morning. Sometimes I feel it is going to go throughout the garage wall. Fortunately to start it I must have my foot on the brake!.
The car has an erratic shifting of the 7-speed automatic transmission. In highway driving at lower speeds below 40 mph due to slow traffic, the transmission shifts on occasion into a gear where the engine rpm drops and holds at 1000 - 1100. If you accelerate slowly the rpm's remain at about 1000 unless you actually push the pedal all the way down to the floor board. At this point if you try to accelerate and pick up speed there is a great hesitation. I now have 15,000 miles on this car and the dealership has told me in the past that it can not duplicate the problem. I have seen several complaints on the edmonds. Com forum site that describe my car's problem and other drivers agree that this will cause an accident or possibly cost someone their life if this problem is not addressed. At one point the dealership told me that my car's on board computer is learning my style of driving habits and it will eventually be okay. I am seriously considering trading the car but in good conscience I am concerned about my legal obligation to divulge this problem to the next owner. This is a serious problem that needs to be investigated.
