Seven problems related to front air bag sensor control have been reported for the 2011 Infiniti G37. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Air bag passenger sensor defective, very common occurrence with Nissan/Infiniti vehicles. Sensor fails randomly.
Passenger airbag not active light on dashboard on all the time regardless if someone is sitting in the seat with seat belt latched . I have 25,500 miles on the vehicle and I am concerned the passenger is at risk if the airbag will not operate in a crash. Seat sensor defective per on-line forums and a $6,000. 00 fix to replace passenger seat w sensor built in to correct it.
The airbag control unit and sensor needs to be replaced. Looking online this seems to be a common issue and there have been recalls for the same issue on different models/years. The parts for this are extremely expensive, $6,800 is the quote I received from Nissan.
Takata recall: Infiniti recalled an entire line of cars with faulty air bags/seat sensors, but did not cover all cars. I have a 2011 Infiniti G37x with only 50k miles that I am being charged 7k to replace a seat cushion that has a failed sensor. This problem is widely known in a significant number of Infinitis, yet the manufacturer will not repair obviouly faulty parts that were installed. This presents a massive saftey issue if I cannot afford a repair that I should never have to make. Name another car of any make/model that has seat cusions fail. It is disgusting that Infiniti will not correct their error, and worse that a government agency that is aware of the problem doesnt support buyers who are obviously being taken advantage of.
A light came on saying the passenger seat air bag was not working. The vehicle was sitting still and the light continued while the vehicle was in motion. I took the car to an Infiniti dealer and he said the entire seat would have to be replaced to fix the sensor for an excessive cost of of $6,711. 08. This has been fixed on 2012 and later models, but there are thousands of 2008 - 2011 models out there that can incur this ridiculous high cost and owners have no idea of what it may cost tomorrow.
Infiniti should recall all affected G37 passenger air bag sensors. My Infiniti G37 journey sedan has an issue of "passenger airbag off light" turning on when even an adult sits on the passenger seat while the vehicle is moving. It seems like the speed of the vehicle does not change the result. The light does not come on all the time but it does come on often enough to concern me. My wife is about 110 pounds and the airbag sensor should detect her as an adult and it should activate in case of a collision. However, when the "passenger airbag off" light is on when an adult sits in the passenger seat, it is a safety issue and Infiniti should address it to insure basic safety of its occupants. . Takata recall, my car has experienced total shut down of airbags due to a faulty sensor in the passenger seat. After online research I have discovered that this is a quite common occurence and creates a public safety hazard. Due to the high cost of repair, $5000+, many citizens do not have the problem fixed, thus driving without any airbag protection. Also many people are reporting that soon after buying a used Nissan product that the same problem occurs. I think this could lead one to believe that this is a quite common problem underreported by the primary parties. This along with the fact of excessive repair cost is , in my opinion, is creating an unnecessary public safety hazard which warrants further investigation. I thank you for the opportunity to allow you to receive my concerns.
