2 Body problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 11/23/2024

The sunroof’s drain ports clogging up is a known common issue to Infiniti dealers, as I have learned while taking my car in after the entire dashboard & electronics shorted out. The mechanic told me this is a common occurrence during the rainy season. Water may intrude the body through the clogged ports and the first location the water goes, happens to be the lower passenger side which also happens to be the location of the body control module (bcm). The car has stopped operating on me in the middle of driving, and also wouldn’t allow me to get out of the gear I was in. What could be a $50 - $150 repair turns into a $2500 - $2800 repair.

The dealer has provided me an estimate of $3,000 to repair the sunroof drain and the water damage to the body control module (bcm). Infiniti consumer affairs has been zero help. 5 Body problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/07/2023

Sunroof drain failure causing rain water from the outside of the vehicle to enter the interior flooding the passenger side going from the front seats to the back seats. Due to the sunroof drain defect, the flooding of the interior causes the water to get into the body control module impacting the electronics which can result in numerous failures in the vehicle making it dangerous to drive. There are numerous videos on youtube and posts on online forums describing this very issue which is extremely common with the G37. Infiniti dealer confirms the issue, but takes absolutely no responsibility. The cost of the repairs to the sunroof drain and body control module are completely placed on the consumer.

6 Body problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 05/04/2022

Sunroof faulty. I've had car less than 3 years. I work from home and keep car under a carport. After a downpour of rain when I was out of town the interior front sides and floor were soaked. I wash the car myself with hose because drive thru washes will have water come in thru side of front n back sides of the interior. 7 Body problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 02/01/2021

Infinit has issues with their convertible top mechanism. They run a metal to plastic gear that strips and fails. This causes the top to sometimes stop mid cycle and throw an error code. Then the owner is unable to secure the top. I had to drive to the dealer with the top in mid position, not safe. Frankly nor is it to safe to tow in that position. In my case this has happened to me more that once. If one googles "Infiniti convertible flap failure" you will see im not the only one. Infiniti hasn't reworked the parts (car was cancelled) or covered the repairs with the same defective part. Better yet these repairs are 2k per occurrence to resolve. And in my case fail every other year.

8 Body problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 11/27/2020

The firewall drain grommets for the sunroof drain line have needed to be replaced three times over the past 5 years. This is a well known design defect. Many Infiniti owners have complained about rain water ruining the interior foot wells on both the driver and front passenger areas and causing damage to electronics inside the car. The design flaw issue is very expensive to repair, and to add insult to injury, the costly repair does not last for more than a couple of years. These vehicles should have a recall issued, which is the only real way to get the Infiniti car manufacturer's attention. Otherwise, vehicles will continue to be sold with this known defect. Damaged electronics are dangerous because they are known fire and safety hazards. Infiniti needs to be held accountable.

9 Body problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/15/2019

The dashboard is melting. This creates ashine that causes a reflection off the windshield that makes it difficult to see during certain daylight conditions. I have never had a vehicle made with such a defect. I have been unable to stop this melting from happening & from doing internet research it appear many others have had a similar issue with their Infiniti's. The dashboard is all sticky, and anything put on it gets stuck like an adhesive glue is on it. I would like Infiniti to replace my dashboard with a lkq dashboard as a recall.

10 Body problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

The entire dashboard of my Infiniti G37, with only 25k miles, has started splitting apart from every inch of the dash, the driver's side to the passenger's side and many of the areas are never exposed to the sun. Every day new rips have appeared and my fear is that the airbag will break through and deploy without cause which could have a catastrophic outcome. I have not been able to drive my vehicle since this issue has progressed so rapidly. After calls to Infiniti to report the issue, they are not willing to assist in correcting this major failure. The only solution they have provided is to sell us a new car.

11 Body problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 03/23/2019

Fog lights have what appear to be burn marks on the inside of the lens. This problem appeared when stuck in traffic after about 1 hour. Next, the dashboard seems to have actually melted and become extremely sticky and has also started to crack. Finally, whenever it rains, water leaks into the cabin on the passenger side. I looked at what I could and the sunroof drain hose appears to be intact as far down as I could track it. The last two issues are a major problem especially since we live in florida.

Water leaking into the cabin of the g series vehicles , likely from the wearing gasket of the part known as 'plug-side trim'. 15 Body problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/03/2018

My driver's door will not open with either the remote or the key at times, especially when it gets cold. Other times if I get in, the door mechanism will not latch. Again, the remote does not fix this so I tried the lock button on the arm rest. That worked but then I could not get out. Not safe in the event of a fire, flood, or accident of any kind. I have had to climb over my console and I do not think I should have to with a car the caliber of an infinity. No other car I have ever owned has had this problem.

16 Body problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 12/26/2017

I also owned a g35 2008 Infiniti with the same problem. . The doors lock and I can not get in or out. The lock actuators fail. The doors can not be opened mechanically or electrically. The doors were locked when I went in the gym for 1/2 hour and when I came out I could not enter the car the doors were loced and would not open. After a while I was able to get the back seat door open. I drove the car home and was unable to get out of the car . All doors locked. The only way out is through the window. This is a huge safety concern,.

18 Body problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/03/2017

Takata recall: after finding an odor in my vehicle regularly, I took my car to the dealership in hopes of finding the issue and resolving it. I was informed that I have a leak in my car. The sunroof has drain to transport water to the outside of the car. There is a firewall with clips that allow for this to function properly. The firewalls in my sunroof drain have failed causing water to sit beneath the carpet of my car. The carpet is soaked as the water has no where to go and the smell is almost unbearable. In doing research and consulting with the dealership, I have found that this issue is not preventable. The material surrounding the clips in my firewall have worn out. The dealership can replace the clips and place another substance on it to prevent the issue from happening again. The cost to replace the slips, clean the carpet, and disinfect with labor is $1,200. 00. The longer that the water sits there, the longer the odor remains and the higher the risk of causing other issues and having mold in the vehicle. I have been dealing with the odor for almost a month now but I most recently was informed of the specifics.

19 Body problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/25/2017

Melting dashboard makes the surface sticky and shiny. The sticky surface makes everything stick and impossible to clean. The shiny surface creates a glare problem on the windshield when the sun or light hits. That glare is a problem because I can't see sometimes while driving and creates a temporary blind spot.

Travelling at approx. 25 mph on a surface street, the front right wheel dislodged from the vehicle, causing the vehicle to go out of control the wheel hit the side of a parked car, and my wife (driver) hit the side of the next parked car, before coming to a stop. Infiniti's inspector stated that the "knuckle" broke, and that is what caused the wheel to dislodge. However, as of now, Infiniti is assuming no liability in this accident.
